The bar (Closed for Initiate_me)

Simon was sitting at the bar, sipping his scotch. It had been a long day at work. He worked as an architect in a small company, that was currently designing a concert hall, a big step for the company. He was in his mid-thirties and began to doubt he had made the right choices in his life. He had dated a couple women, but never gotten engaged or really serious with one of them before.

It was about 9pm when he noticed a women in a dress sitting not too far away from him, alone as well.

Katya stared into the crimson blackness of the wine, in a trance-like state of deep boredom. A new job in a new town, and no friends to relax with at the end of a trying week. The chatter around her was irritating, a reminded of what she had, willingly at the time, left behind. Twenty-five had seemed old enough to get away alone- uproot herself from home and re-plant somehwere new, but without her friends, acquiantances.... and fuck-buddy, she was alone.

Simon decided to go talk to her, she seemed like she was alone. "Excuse me, is this seat free?" he asked and pointed at the chair next to her.
"My name is Simon, Simon Beaufort"

"By all means, take it,"She replied, gesturing him to be seated. She quickly appraised him, and it was clear that he wanted more than just the chiar. Sure enough, he introduced himself, quite politely.

"Hello SImon, I'm Katya. And... I don't just hand out my surname." She winked at him, and took another sip.

"Hello Katya, nice to meet you. Can you tell me why a beautiful woman like you is sitting alone at the bar?"

"Well, perhaps she has rather foolishly left all of her friends and family behind, many miles away, to chase a silly job that she almost no longer wants. And you?" She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, a little embarassed at her own response.

"Impressive. I work as an architect in a small company, nothing special. So, what's this job that made you change your life?"

Katya was a little surprised to have someone approach her and begin asking her questions, but really it was what she had been waiting for at the bar.

She kept a casual tone, hiding her satisfaction at finally having company. "It's a research job, at the local university. It seemed like an amazing opportunity, but.... I don't know, I don't really feel I fit in. Hence.... I'm here!" She raised her glass to him and emptied it.

She put the glass back on the counter and Simon waved at the bartender, requesting a refill for her. "Don't worry, it's on me".
She seemed a bit cold, but maybe it was her strategy to throw off guys that randomly talked to her.
"I know how you're feeling, I went through the same several years ago. I left everything I had and started a new life, but it turned out to be the right decision. Just hang in there, don't break down."
