The Cliche Game Thread

anal retentive

Priggish, prudish, wound up so tight they can't even loosen their bowels. (sound familiar anyone?)

Sunshine patriot

sunshine patriot

This is, i'm almost positive, from the time of the American Revolution. It means someone who supports his country only in the good times, only in the sunshine times.

I know it's your game, Mistress, but you can't really just ignore someone's cliche and pass it by, can you? Least not someone you *know* is a good player, like Mensa, and not just some flake who happened by... right?)

It is foolish to procrastinate.

I wasn't ignoring hon, I said I didnt know and when I first started the game I noted that if someone didnt know a cliche they could move onto another as long as it began with the same letter. Thank you for clearing it up though, now we know. :)

Can't see the forest for the trees.

Can't see the forest for the trees

You can't see the big picture because you're getting lost in all the smaller details.

The writing is on the wall :
Yes, Sally, Mommy thinks you're very artistic but she get a bit upset when you draw your pictures on the wall instead of in that nice coloring book mommy gave you.

The writing is on the wall

Your fate is sealed, there is no escaping it.

Pride goes before a fall.

Yes, the writing on the wall is from that, um, one book all those Christian people read..
Yes, and so is a "Pride comith before a fall" it had something to do with that one angel (he has horns now I think) falling down because of pride.
Anyway, Pride comith before a fall means.. that, pride comes before you fall.

I guess it's sort of self explanatory.. But, if you ever read the issues of Supergirl 1 to 51 (Hmm, at $2.50 an issue that's $125 bucks - maybe you can get it in TBP) you'll get a wonderful exploration of that theme by writer Peter David...

Okay, okay I'm leaving! I don't need your stupid thread anyhow...

Ok. Ok I'm leaving, I don't need your stupid thread anyway:-

The Literotica equivalent of,
"I'm taking my bat home" or,
"I've thrown my dummy (comforter) out of the pram"

Penny wise, pound foolish

Responsible in the small stuff, extravagant and foolhardy with the big stuff.

There's no place like home.

There's no place like home.

Prosaically, no place compares to the comfort of being in your own house. More appropriately, nothing compares to being surrounded by your own stuff, be it your home or your office or back in your own country after foreign travel.

Big as life

Big as life - you can't miss it, there it is in your face, you can see something (usually the truth) clearly.

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Take the struggles and hardships that you face and turn them into opportunities.

No pain, no gain

No pain no gain - you get in what you put out. If you don't give an effort (pain) you won't get the desired results (gain).

However hard you try, the forces of nature are always greater than you.

Hmmm... i've heard this as heading for a fall. Nonetheless, the def is still the same, i think.
