Yes, but think how much of our technology today was developed or invented by the Nazis? Rockets? the Glock? for that matter, semiauto handguns exist because of the Luger P08. How about most of modern aerospace technology? Companies like Messerschmidt.

nuclear power? scientists trying to escape the holocaust. Volkswaagen? While not specifically attributed to Hitler, he did propose the idea of a car for the people, well engineered and inexpensive. The UN? Wouldn't exist at all if not for the Nazis. It's kind of disturbing how much of the modern world wouldn't be around without all that bloodshed of World War 2.

That's also technically true. They say necessity is the mother of invention, so in order to save their country, the forerunners of the Nazis had to invent so much. Of course, the fact that they went overboard and became militaristic is also true.

I'm not saying they're the cause. Merely that even though most of the world sees them as deranged madmen, many constructive things were either invented by them or invented as a result of their actions.

The fact that you are detached enough from WWII and the horrors of the nazis to look at it from some impersonal perspective doesn't make it any less analogous.

I can't help my objectivity. I know the things that happened, and I know why they happened. But I also know that, like with EVERYONE, there's more than just madness to the Nazis.

Most people who are lactose intolerant can handle goat's milk. I love the stuff and biologically is is so much closer to human milk than most other animals.

However, consider that one of the few things we have always done a population is learn. It doesn't follow that if WWII hadn't happened we would not be advanced. What does follow is that war over the millenia has dramatically shaped the direction of our technological pursuits - as has commercialism post WWII.

Consider for a moment what those advancements have been in (if you consider the ability to blow the world up multiple times as an advancement) and now consider what advancements could have been made had we had more altruistic motivations behind them. I'm not so thankful for WWII when considering the issue in that light.
