I think it's more accurate to say it's possible our gods were born out of hate, but how is that NOT the ultimate land dispute? The definition of a land dispute is two or more people fighting over the same piece of land. Jerusalem is the very embodiment of that.

I said before I was talking about resources.
The fact that a conflict has gone on for a long time doesn't prove your point.
Land, water, forests, metals, and other resources.
These were the original conflicts.
And the original sources of dehumanization.

But you want to blame the world's issues on religion, feel free.
It oversimplifies the situation, and makes resolution impossible because there's no real udnerstanding.

True, but the Brits were particularly notorious for their expansionism. Makes me ashamed of much of my heritage, actually.

Shame doesn't help anything. Looking at what remains of colonialism within yourself and actively working against it. That helps. Looking for ways to undermine "othering" in the world around you, that also helps. Its not like colonialism is a thing of the past, its an active concept behind oppression and we all participate in it.

The point is that the bloodiest and one of the oldest conflicts in the world is a religious land dispute. It's not simply cultures that are fighting over Jerusalem, it's religions claiming that it's their holy land, and that everyone else should vacate. Maybe there have been real issues at stake in the situation at some point, but it's been of a religious nature for so long that no one even thinks of anything else in the conflict.

A more interesting way to look at it is this. Look at polytheistic and nontheistic religions. None fight over land, at least, not claiming it to be Holy Land. Various gods of war still have actual conquest reasons, not "Our god is better than yours", but the majority of conflicts over land that are of a religious nature are monotheistic religions fighting.

As much as I detest colonialism, the reason I like the idea of furries is that it plays on that concept. Separating the "animal" from the "rational" deprives people, imo, of their vitality and there is both power and intensity in bringing it back. As many things in literature are, a hybrid of human and beast is a metaphor. It is capable of bundling this intensity and releasing it as the story progresses.

If I did ever play a furry, it would be feral, dangerous, and vibrant, freeing everything that society makes it inappropriate to express. There's the rub for me.

Soft skin, yeah, estrogen does that just fine.

Give it a couple of weeks and try again, love. If I've an animal, its of an altogether different sort, its its likely to change as I grow.

I confess to having met a wonderful man who has turned my life upside down, but in such a good way. One that has taught me many things, like being truly loved, cared for, cherished, desired and much more.

Sad to think before now I thought I knew what those were like, but they do not compare to what he showed me. Taking time to know every detail about myself to the point he knows me better than people that have been with me for years. I just truly hope the future paths we lead will bring us together!
