The Crafting Thread - Show Us What You've Made!

This is so cute! Did you follow instructions or did you come up with the design yourself?

I’d never be creative or bold enough to combine patterned fabrics like that but it looks absolutely great!
I bought the little patterns but I chose the individual fabrics. It was fun but a little nerve-wracking. I completely ruined 4 attempts before finally figuring it out.

Kudos! I think the selection of the fabrics is the most ingenious part. Really cool, inspiring!

And like I said, I’d never be creative or bold enough for something like that. I probably would have used solid colors and the end result would have been much blander because of that.

Choosing the fabrics was the most challenging part. I wanted to match seasons and holidays. I spent way, way too much on fabric!

I started knitting a wool petticoat in the fall, but Xmas preparations took over 2 months ago, and I haven't had energy to pick it up again.

This isn't the latest progress though, there's a lot of more red. Anyway, won't finish it this winter. This is just part 1/3 of the whole petticoat.

Oh, that's really cool! It's gonna be awesome when you finish it. :)

This will be great when it’s finished! I only dream of being able to knit something like that! ❤️

It indeed will be marvelously warm! I wish I had finished it already, this winter is freezing cold (we've had like 2 weeks of 2-digit figures negative Celsius already).
Hah, the weather sure has kept me motivated to knit my hat. The wind chill has been absolutely insane here over two weeks now. You’re not supposed to get “feels like” temps of around -27 celsius (-16F) in this part of the country for this long.

Of course now that my hat is finished, we’ll be back to much more manageable temps.

Project Beanie has come to a happy ending!

It’s not perfect because I’m still a beginner knitter and my knitting is not very even, but I’m pretty satisfied with the end result. I’m able to wear this outside without people pointing and laughing, which is what I had a dream about. 😂

And naturally now that the hat is finished, the weather is supposed to get a bit warmer.

I love it! I'm horrible at knitting so I stick with crochet but I've yet to master making beanies!

I’m a lot better at crochet as well. Or at least I find it a lot easier to do and to understand why things happen the way they do.

The first thing I crocheted after my childhood trauma of trying to crochet a square potholder (it turned out so bad, misshapen and cup-like that my teacher labeled it as a hat for a doll among everybody else’s potholders 😂) was a pair of mittens, which I did without any real instructions or anything. I just winged it as I went on, and came up with a pattern by myself as well. Crochet somehow makes sense to me and if I think logically, I can usually get to the end result I want.

I would not dream of just winging it if I were to knit a pair of mittens.

This looks cool, I’m looking forward to seeing it finished eventually. Is that a special crafts room you have? Very nice and organized!
I turned my office into my crafts room. Once I quit my job, I went to visit my sister for a week. When I got back, my husband had turned my office into a crafts room... well, he painted it, got rid of my old furniture and had it read for me to organize it.

Now that’s an exemplary husband! ❤️

(Edit: supposing you wanted a craft room and he knew it and didn’t push you into becoming craft person 🤣)
