The Democrats Have Abandoned Rural America

SO, what is the Party going to do about this subjugation by Republicans and the Corportists? They are whining and blaming others rather than recouping with the real power of the people. This calls for action not sniveling.

"A New Deal with a Fresh Deck" is what should be the Democratic Banner, not, "Yes Master, Anything you say Mistress."

Invigorate the Veterans with real veterans support in jobs and community support. A hell of a lot of Vets are adrift with out a job and with no light at the end of their tunnel. These guys will follow a leader and do the job, but you can not bullshit them.

Support small businesses to rebuild our infrastructure, Get funding for these programs by making them talked about everyday and build popular support for diverting the funds from the Pentagon and make it up by cutting a few unneeded Generals and Dept Sec Def slots and fewer F-35s, a Carrier Battle Group or two and it adds up.

To bring back a Democratic catch phrase, "It's the ECONOMY, Stupid!"

You tell me, Jack. For the past eight years the GOP has obstructed everything the Dems have tried to do. The primary accomplishment the GOP has done in the last eight years is legislate reproductive rights for women to prove their family values, when they don't give a shit about family values. They shut down the government as Cruz read Green Eggs and Ham on the Floor, and refuse to convene a Supreme Court nominee. And then a supposedly apolitical FBI director pulls a fucking election stunt 10 days before an election. Meanwhile, Trump was elected, and the bastard is still tweet whining. And you view the Dems as sniveling whiners???

No Jack, the elections turn out the way they do because the electorate is dumb as a rock.

Too dumb or just dissatisfied with their hand in the game? I didn't see much help from Democrats in 2010, 2012 or 2014 elections. Democrats were fucked due to the reapportionment, true but that just means that they had to tailor their presentation.

Th DNC made a choice to run an "Establishment, Same as always candidate" and the people said, "You have got to be shitting me, I need the Change, Obama promised."

Eight years of deadlock because the Democrats couldn't win in 2010 and gerrymander their own ascendancy.

Losing, Loser, lost. Just last week the Demo's were fat dumb and Happy, and then the bread they had cast upon the water came back a soggy bread.

Congress ranks lower than Used Car Salesmen in approval. Senators are scarcely better. How about recruiting some winning candidates for the House as a start, you've got a year to select and groom them and a year to sell their story to the electorate. Maybe in 2018 you could shift the House and control the Budget?

"Draining the Swamp," is a good slogan. and make 'gator stew of the usual suspects.:)

And for the past eight years the Democrats haven't been able to take the House back. The DNC's is focued on the Top, but the power comes from the bottom, the State Leg, the House and the hearts of Americans, Black, Brown White, and what ever.

There were 21 Senate Republican seats running for Senate and the Democrats only picked up 2. 10% is a not a passing grade. (-1 for the DNC.)

It's very hard to win three terms in a row. In the new world of the 24hr news cycle the last republican president eight years ago seems longer than a lifetime. You can argue that the republican dominated congress hamstrung Obama but the fact shown by the disintegration of "the blue wall" was shit just hasn't got any better in the mid-west. Warren Buffet and corporate America kept getting richer while the average wages were stagnant.

Along comes an orange headed larger than life celebrity telling the nation he was going to get the jobs back, cut taxes, cut the deficit, stop the foreigners from taking America for a ride and make America great Again. Strong on slogans, while the detail is non-existent. Clever really, your opponent can't attack your policies because really you don't have any.

Add in the Hilary factor, and the shit hits the fan.

Still Trump has come in with a big list of jobs to do and elevated expectations. As a semi interested observer of US politics I'm going to be fascinated to see the Republican house that has railed against increased debt for eight years reaction to bills cutting taxes and authorizing spending on huge infrastructure projects. How high will they let the debt ceiling go?

I think there is more involved in this issue, so we can agree to disagree.

Political parties exist to tote water for their elites. Neither party gives a shit for working stiffs. So we toss each party out every 8 years or so. Trump wont change things. Its been like this since the pharaohs.

As a liberty fan opposite of a red I share a lot of your sentiments but I think the solution is to take the government handcuffs off of those farmers, small bidnizz owners etc. Not throw 'good' government after bad.

It's just my personal belief that the US Government should be there to protect everyone's right to do what they want. Be it their religious practices or commercial endeavors to live the life they want to live as long as it's not a public threat or an infringement upon others right to do the same.

It shouldn't be their job to decide who gets to live what kind of life and how they have to do it. But somewhere along the way it's become a legal weapon used to be assholes to and needlessly with each other.

It's total over involvement (imo) in marriage for example...what an insane waste of time and anguish we've expended and continue to expend on this issue.

At best the gov should just be record keepers and arbiters of cohabitation and family laws that don't give a fuck if you're married or not. Then EVERYONE get's to have whatever kind of dysfunctional weirdo family they want. With freedom every single consenting adult in the USA wins, gay, straight or poly.

It's not at all difficult, yet people of most political flavors find it totally insane.

LOL

Oh well, this is why I like sci-fi....imagining worlds where stupid and difficult for no fucking reason at all aren't mandatory.

i agree with much, but fall green on social issues of child and elderly welfare. also education. you have to pay for that somehow.

Uh hua, and I clearly never said anything about DNC operatives like you did here when you went running about with your goalposts. ;)

*shrug* everyone has their reasons.

that they do.

Rural America comprises 19% of the national population and is shrinking, growing poorer, and both aging and becoming more ethnically diverse. Those undocumented shitworkers in Kansas chicken factories are rural. Urban America is a more lucrative source of votes. Follow the money.

it becomes more diverse as populations are displaced out of inner cities by revitalization and the rich's desire to live in a centrally located downtown. the suburbs and smaller towns are absorbing this migration. when you follow the money, you lose the people. shit. once you get to oklahoma, you find children totally educationally neglected, because their constituents don't believe in taxes benefiting children. as red as they claim, people don't give enough to nonprofits to ensure future generations are educated and on there best footing for the world of tomorrow. those are your votes. there's your medicaid. sorry. that was a tangent.

Would you expound on that, because if my son had died in Afghanistan, it wouldn't have been Hillary I would have blamed, it would have been gw.

that's just what i've heard from mouths of mothers. it is not about how you would feel. it is about how they feel. yes. people share your opinion. after it happened and hillary made her statement, she came off as a cold bitch. it was a lock in the door, justifying what they already believed about her. imo. i am not pretending to write for anyone person in particular. just thoughts as they escape. take them for their internet value.

Political parties exist to tote water for their elites. Neither party gives a shit for working stiffs. So we toss each party out every 8 years or so. Trump wont change things. Its been like this since the pharaohs.

it's time to bring back the unions.

And I'm with you on certain welfare for those that can't (not wont but can't) take care of themselves, infrastructure, R&D, security, law and order etc.

But the shit' we've been doing? LOL

Not even close to hitting the mark....so I hope it all burns.

I hope Trump crashes this bitch and MILLIONS of hipsters starve to death.

America is a piece of shit all around and I can't wait to GTFO.

Too dumb. They sent the same folks back to Congress they had reason to be dissatisfied with and they followed a huckster who did everything he could to alienate the voters, flip-flop on his positions, and show that he wasn't going to give his supporters a damn thing that he was luring them in with in the way of promises. Americans have become zombie captives to the entertainment industry.

Hillary offered them the same neoliberal crap that's been fucking them over for the past 40 years.

Who's dumb?

Our leftist got their start in rural Canada. Social Credit, the CCF and the NDP successor all came out of western rural ridings. Now the heartland of the Conservatives is rural areas and the west.

U.S. Representative Tim Ryan said on Thursday he was challenging House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi for the post of the chamber’s top Democrat in an election set for Nov. 30.

Ryan, 43, who is from Ohio, said Democrats had only been in the House of Representatives majority for four of the past 18 years, “and last week’s election results set us back even further.”

“Vote for me and I will dedicate all of my energy to lead us back into the majority,” he said in a statement.

Democratic Leadership disintegrating? About time.
