The demons of Ashcroft Manor (closed)

“Ma’am.”

Michael! Stacy wasn’t sure she was ready to see him, but she had little choice in the matter now that he was here.

“I wanted to apologize for last night. I don’t know what came over me…. Came over us. I don’t know how to describe it but it was like I somehow lost control of myself. I’ve never had that happen to me before.”

“Michael,” her fingers quickly closed out her writing program and she found herself getting out of her chair, giving her dress a little tug as she did so.

“You have nothing to apologize for. So, please don’t. We are all adults here and we all participated last night.”

“Not that I didn’t want to…. It’s just….. not like that.”

She had little to none experience handling situations like the one she found herself in right now. Stacy cleared her throat.

“Michael, I owe you an apology. I inadvertently placed you--- I know you’re engaged to a lovely young lady. I’m sorry for my part in getting you to be unfaithful.”

Hearing Stacy mention that he'd been unfaithful felt like a knife turning in his stomach. He'd of course recognized it himself but hearing her say it further solidified it in his mind. It was something he'd never imagined himself doing.

Though Stacy seemed to be accepting the blame as her own Michael couldn't help but think there was something else at play here. The dreams, what happened the night before. None of it seemed normal and it certainly wasn't something that had happened to him before. Looking at Stacy, she didn't seem like that type of person either so it had to be something else.

"But, have you noticed anything strange going on here?" he asked, wondering if it was truly only him. "I mean, I think something is going on."

Stacy frowned even as she gestured to the empty chair on the other side of her desk.

“What do you mean, Michael? And please, have a seat.”

She sat back down in her chair, turning it so she sat facing him and frowned in concentration. Something going on? She wasn’t sure what he meant by that. What could possibly be going on? Stacy was truly puzzled by his words. Her fingers steepled in front of her lips. Her eyes were fastened on his face. She couldn’t help but notice once again that he was a handsome man, one she had had in her body, pounding into it just the night before.
