Katerina
Ethaniel came to me, wrapping his arms around me, laying his cheek against mine.
"You are my sister Katerina. I shall not abandon you. Not for the all the riches upon this land, not in the face of the blazing sun, and most certainly not for any mortal."
I sighed, shivering involuntarily. I stood there, letting him hold me, though feeling like I should push him away. I felt as if I were about to crumble into his arms, and I hated myself for it. I had only ever reviled my deepest thoughts to a few certain people, and in one way or another, they’d all betrayed me.
“You say these things now, but everyone has a way of forgetting. My father gave me similar promises once, and I never saw him again.”
