Wind farms in the Atlantic are estimated to be able to power the entire East Coast alone, without any fossil fuel.

Exactly. The donors to trumps campaign and graft, from the fossil fuel industry would lose additional revenue on a bigly scale none the likes anyone has ever seen. We continue to march... backwards in so many ways. We could have learned from the Dutch and their windmills from so many years ago. Instead we have to suffer from someone that believes windmills cause cancer.

You know, I think the hate for wind turbines and renewables in general from the current US administration is due to a fealty to petroleum interests, whether they be the Bored of Peace nations or the domestic petrol-industry.
Keeping the world addicted to fossil fuels keeps existing power structures in power.
Why else would they want to kill clean cost-effective alternatives?
I know many people who have electric cars who charge them from their own solar power systems. They aren’t getting pinched from high gas prices.
Imagine how different things would be in Cuba now if they had been able to invest heavily in renewable energy sources.
Renewables localize production and make it so consumers can produce their own energy. Who is that bad for?
