One thing I’m VERY concerned about:
Imagine if the Iranian regime (or some radical faction inside Iran, etc) realized that they could destroy America / the west (the economy at least) simply by TRULY blocking the strait (sinking multiple ships in the choke point of the strait).
The "opening" of the strait could ultimately lead to a massive premeditated terror attack involving the sinking of multiple ships right at the choke point of the strait: An attack that could / would potentially block the strait in near perpetuity.
I would be very hesitant to encourage the resumption of “normal traffic” through the strait for the foreseeable future. The situation is FAR from stabilized.
