Gas Prices Up Nearly 80% Since Biden Took Office​

When Biden moved into the White House on January 20, 2021, a gallon of regular gasoline cost an average of $2.37, according to gasbuddy.com.

In early March, the national average rose to as high as $4.34. Today it’s nearly $4.20, the American Automobile Association (AAA) reported Monday.

“To be fair, gas prices moderated modestly toward the end of April, but remain above $4.00 a gallon,” Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the American Action Forum, said in a statement last week. “Since the start of the Biden Administration, gas prices are up over 80 percent.”

Addressing Biden directly, Holtz-Eakin said: “This record of futility drives home the basic economics of the situation: Either admit you want gas (and other carbon-based fuel) prices higher and sell it politically on the merits, or take some real, permanent action on domestic production that stands a chance of increasing supply enough to reduce gas prices.”

A chart compiled by gasbuddy.com shows that less than two months after Biden took office, the average price had jumped from $2.37 to about $2.85. A gallon topped $3 in May 2021, then soared to $3.25 by October. At the end of 2021, with the price nearing $3.50, Biden announced the U.S. Department of Energy would release 50 million barrels of crude oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR).

The nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created in 1975 after the Arab oil embargo caused fear and angry gas-station lines across the country. The underground reservoirs, believed to be the world’s largest, were intended as an emergency oil-savings account for an actual energy crisis threatening national security.

The SPR was not intended for a political crisis when Joe Biden’s Democrats face midterm election annihilation over inflation and outrageous gasoline prices above $6 a gallon caused by the same president’s ideological war on fossil fuels.

Biden’s announced “plan,” which drew considerable criticism, is to draw down a million barrels a day for 180 days from the country’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve stored in vast underground salt caverns in Texas and Louisiana.

Since each barrel contains enough oil to produce 44 gallons of petroleum products, that’s a lot of fossil fuel flowing into the market.

But it turns out, contrary to what you might have thought and hoped with all the Biden administration hype about easing gas prices for his countrymen, the consumers who will directly benefit from using up American reserves are not Americans.

Tariffs are just another way of taxing the people. Prices of imported goods will rise. Domestic suppliers will see that as an opportunity to increase their profits. As prices rise people buy less which means that more people will lose their jobs. In short they are a way of transferring wealth from the working man to the rich.

It will take a while to filter through. Over here, they are calling the tariffs the Hokey Cokey tariffs because they are in, out, in out, and shake it all about. The steel tariffs have only just been announced. The US doesn't have the steel and aluminium capacity to replace all the imports, so like it or not in the coming months, you will be paying more for items made from steel or aluminium. Right now, you are buying stuff that was produced from materials that were already in the US. Buying american ain't gonna help you much because very few things are 100£ US made. You can buy American beer but you don't know where the steel or alumium used for the can came from.

If Trump get's his government cuts though,your unemployment is going to sky rocket, and consumer purchasing will drop. Add in the tariff's and Trump has started the US economy down a dangerous road...if you're not already rich....

there was a time where american foreign policy helped fund projects and economic growth in central america. there wasn't a flood pf people at the border then. funding was reduced and poverty rates grew in central american countries. the migrants moved
