In 2012, the world ended. Just like the Myan's predicted it would. Or maybe when they predicted it would. Early in 2012, NASA revealed that they had been tracking a very large comet heading directly toward Earth. A month later they announced to the cheers of populations that the comet would not impact Earth and miss us by a safe distance. The only danger and unpredictable event that would occur was that the Earth was going to orbit through the comet's tail, possible exposing the world to unknown radiations.

As a result, people began to hunker down as best they could for the three days that the Earth would be in the comet's afterpath. Bunkers, bomb shelters and all sorts of other methods were used by people in an effort to protect themselves. Canned goods were stalked up and stored with ammo and weapons as well.

Nothing worked.

The Earth passed through the comet's tail in a span of five hours and in that five hours everyone on Earth fell asleep. Those that awoke, awoke to an empty planet. In five hours Earth's population went from over 6,000,000,000 to less than 1,000.

James Temian was one of the people who woke up.

That was five years ago.

Before the Event, James had worked for the military as a mechanical engineer. He took apart tanks and put them back together. In combat he fabricated vechicles and armor in order to best suit the situation. James was very good at what he did. In a world were everyone was gone, he was one of the best people to have survived in his own mind.

He knew he couldn't stay alone in a big city. Not because of fear of monsters or any nonsense like that. But for the sake of his sanity he knew that being alone in a place meant to house millions of people would potentually damage him. So he set about work on building a capable bigrig machine to drive around the country looking for anyone who may have made it through. Hell if he had lived, then surely there were some other people left.

He fitted a long-nose 18-wheeler with a giant steel shovel off the front so he wouldn't have to get out and push cars to the side of the highway, he could simply run through them. He made armor plating he got from a tank on the now abandoned military base and re-enforced the cab, turning his rig into a armored driving machine.

Driving around the country wasn't much of a problem. People had vanished, but gas stations still had plenty of fuel to use. In some places the automated power planets were still pumping power through the towns so James was able to make real food in real restaurants.

Though he hadn't seen a town with power in at least a year which meant the plants automated systems had finally shut down. It had been good while it lasted. Behind his rig James had attached a motorhome trailer with which he also mounted armor on. A year in the cramped cab took, it's toll on him and he caved in order to get himself a real bed. On top of the camper he had mounted a 500mm-gattling gun. Though in five years he had never had to defend himself, except from a couple of wild pigs. Better safe than sorry.

After five years James was starting to get lonely. He hoped that he never found a woman though, his military record wasn't exactly clean, and he feared what he might do to a woman after being so fucking horny for five years. He wasn't a bad guy, but there was a violent side to James he needed to keep in check. At least he used to need to keep it in check. Now there was never anything to get angry at, so no need. Plus firing a few rounds from the gattling gun into a Wal-Mart was a wonderful was to blow off steam.

Jax was in the Wal-Mart stocking up on supplies. It had been 3 years since she had seen anyone. Though 3 years hadn't washed the distaste of Kaleb from her mind. Kaleb had helped her break out of the penitentiary when the world had disappeared. It was odd to find that her cell hadn't been locked that night and even odder to find everyone gone. She figured it was the Revelations, but hell, she had deserved to be left behind. She had managed to get away with murder for 15 years. Unfortunately, Kaleb thought she was too pretty to be as ruthless as she was and once he decided that No didn't mean No she gave him two warning shots of her pistol: to his face.

Sometimes she wished she hadn't killed him, but just shot off his dick so she wouldn't be so lonely. She was starting to think maybe she was going crazy. But crazy people don't think their crazy. Right?!

Jax had just filled a duffle bag with canned goods and drinks when the first shot went through the window. She fell to the ground grabbing her AK and lifting it when she saw what was a ... what military fucking tank shooting at her. She quickly made her way to the bullets section of the store and stocked up on guns, flares, and bullets and it slowly dawned on her that the person wasn't firing at her. They were just firing at the store as the bullets didn't follow her and seemed to only be at one portion of the store.

Jax made her way out a side door and walked back towards the front of the building stopping well away from the tank. She was going to take off when she saw the bed and wondered if maybe she could hi jack the damn thing. She was still thinking when a door opened and she stared into it. She had her gun in a relax position, but knew in less than a second she could raise it and fire accurately. Her duffle bag was at her feet. She could still jack the damn thing. She knew she could.

Jax stood there with her jacket flapping behind her. Black jeans hugged her curvy frame and the knee high boots made her 5'5 frame 3 inches taller. The shirt was ripped under her rib cage, but she didn't have huge breasts hers barely being larger than a B cup. Her caramel skin was slightly tanned and her hazel eyes searched through the dark opening of the vehicle wondering if there was one person or two she would have to kill.

James had seen a lot of things in his life. But it had been so long since he had seen another living breathing person that the appearance of this one had him puzzled. It was a woman no less. He smirked and thought about the future of the human race, if it were ever to survive it would need a woman to house the next generation.

He dropped into the cabin and peeked out the window. The woman was coming toward the trailer, unable to resist the possibility of getting to talk to another person no doubt. James was excited, and he quickly moved to open the door for her.

Then he saw her weapons and he paused, his hand over the handle. Perhaps this woman wouldn't be as glad as he had thought. He could smell danger on her, she was deadlier than she looked and James had no doubt that she would slit his throat if given the chance.

If he was really smart he would have driven away. Just packed up and left her ass on the side of the road. But he was lonely, and crazy psycho bitch or not, James wanted someone to talk to. As she approached James opened the cabin door, but hid in the shadows as she came closer.

Pulling a pistol from the table James waited on her to get to the door. Still he did not move, wanting her to come inside the trailer where he would have all the tactical advantage over her.

When she approached the threshold he threw himself forward, forcing her hands against the frame of the door. In the same motion he brought his gun around to her forehead. "Drop the gun." He said flatly. "There are barely any of us people left, no reason to thin the herd any further."

Jax normally wouldn't have approached the vehicle, but no one was coming out. She knew it was a trap, but obviously couldn't help herself from getting closer and closer. Her duffle bag was left behind, but her gun stayed close to her hip. She also kept a knife strapped to her thigh and she felt the weight of it as she walked; giving her confidence and a bravado she felt was slowly waning.

"Hello?" She called out into the darkness of the frame. She didn't want to go inside not knowing what waited. Obviously, that was close enough as a man grabbed her, slammed her hands against the frame of the door, and had his own gun pointed at her head. She arched an eyebrow not in the least bit scared or worried.

"You're the one who ambushed me. Twice. First by shooting into the store I was 'shopping' in. Than when I tried to approach you even if it's to see another human being you grab me and put a gun to my head. My only question is why?" Jax smiled softly letting her eyes go wide with a touch of innocent happiness. "If it's because I have a gun well it would be stupid of me not have a weapon being one of the few women left in the world. You could be a rapist or a killer. So again I asked why did you approach me with hostility instead of with friendliness?"

Jax was a great thinker and debater. It was why she had gotten away with murder for so long, managed to work her way to the high ranks in the jail, and had gotten only 10-20 years in jail instead of life though she had managed to murder 20 plus people. Jax held onto her weapon, but took a step back. "If you are going to be like this then it was nice to finally speak to another human being. I wish you well." She turned her back, counted, and started to walk away...and waited.

James didn't trust her, the way she spoke like she was trying to come off differently than she really was. After not seeing a person for so long, she spoke to him like he was a new neighbor. That was a major red flag, any other person would have been delighted to finally be face-to-face with another human being.

He knew it was all a ploy, and yet he couldn't let her just walk away. If she was crazy or dangerous it was a risk he needed to take. He didn't want to be alone anymore. He lowered his gun but didn't put it away, "Hey wait."

HE sighed and shook his head, "Look I'm sorry, it's been so long since I've seen another person that I uh...I don't trust easily. Where are you heading? Maybe you could ride with me for a little while, some company would be nice for a change I have been talking to a fucking volleyball for the past year." He waited for her to come back or to turn around.

That spark of rage ignited in him. IF she was just going to ignore him, leave him to be alone the he would put a bullet in her head and fuck her body. It was her choice, she could be a spiteful bitch in the old world, but this world played by a different game. His finger tightened on the trigger as he waited for her to turn back toward him.

Jax smiled. She turned and nodded. "It's okay. I've been talking to myself and I must say," she laughed gaily. "I feel a little crazy. I'm Jackson, but everyone calls me Jax." Truth. "I used to be a bartender back before well before the comet." Half truth. Jax walked over to her duffel bag and picked it up. She dragged it to him. "What's your name? I can tell we'll be good friends." Lie. Jax had every intention of killing the man as soon as he dropped his weapon.

Jax slightly pushed past James as she entered the vehicle. It was roomier than she thought and she eyed the weapons laying around. James wasn't a dope. She could drop the 'friendly' persona. It wasn't going to work. She turned and for the first time saw James as she should have. He was desperate, but not entirely where he wouldn't hurt her. He had the capability to kill and from the weapons had done so. She let her duffle fall hearing a clang as her own metal weapons hit the metal of the floor.

"Okay," she said her voice hard as she spoke. "Obviously neither one wants to be alone. We need to trust eachother. I don't want to be raped and you don't want your dick cut off. So we're at a stalemate. If you don't try to fuck me I promise not to try to kill you ... quickly." Jax cocked her hip and knew with a flick of her wrist her gun would be up and in firing range just as quickly as he could pull that trigger. Hell, it wouldn't be the first time she had been shot. "So what do you say?"

James eyed her as she stepped into the trailer. He saw her demeannor shift as she saw his weaponry. Jax went from friendly to revealing at least a part of who she really was. James shook his head and smirked, "Not trusting me is your right. But fucking with me would be a mistake you will not live through. So I will make you this promise instead. I will not let you kill me even if I rape you. Which I probably wont."

He smiled and stepped to the trailer door. "Kindly join me in the rig so we can get out of here. Leave your bag you dont need it to ride shotgun."

He shut and locked the door behind them, taking care to never have Jax at his back. "Im Kevin by the way. Before all this shit went down, I was a military engineer which how I turned a motor home and Optimus Prime into these monsters," he patted the steel siding.

Once they were in the cab he glanced over at her. "The reason I wont rape you is this. The way I see it, weve both been out of human contact for a long time. I need a good pussy and I bet you would like a hard dick, unless you was one of them lesbians. Anyway you can keep your gun, but id be more comfortable if you took it out of your holster and set it on the floor at your feet. Please."

Jax smirked. He was doing what every guy did which was underestimate her. She let that smirk turn into a smile and she simply arched one eyebrow as he spoke. If he touched her wrong she wouldn't hesitate to put her knife through his throat. The only thing she wasn't sure how to operate this beast and if she could see how he drove would be much easier than her trying to figure it out on her own. She had tried to steal a big rig once in her life. Much harder than driving a regular car and all big rigs were sticks; which she could drive just not when there were like 3 gear shifts.

"I'll join you," was all she said as she defiantly picked up her bag and hefted it onto her shoulder. No man will ever tell her what to do. Especially now that she could make her own choices. She had flashbacks of being locked up and this wasn't boding well for the man who was as sourly as she was. She leaned against the entrance noting that his eyes kept glancing to her; not in a sexual way, but in a cautious way and that made her smile even wider.

"So Kevin are we the only two people in this monster contraption." She assumed they were and having only heard of the Transformer movies and never seen it she missed the Optimus Prime joke. Military huh? But only an engineer which means he's probably not much of a shot. Though he did have some training so he might be worth having around. Jax let her bag fall at her feet as she climbed into the passenger seat.

"Yup. I'm a lesbian," Jax chirped as she looked around ignoring the rest of his comments. She wasn't putting her gun or her knife down. He had to be mad if he thought she would. She bent one knee putting her foot on the seat and wrapped her arm around her knee. She had easy access to her knife and she undid the clasp that held it. Now if he made any wrong moves that knife would be slashing towards his chest while her other hand would easily lift her gun up to finish him off. This wasn't her first rodeo.

"So if you're done with your requests let's go. There's slim to nothing in that Wal Mart and I heard the next few towns over would have people in it." Now how did she hear that. CB radio. Which... hey! Jax leaned forward fiddling with the radio as she spoke. "I picked up a station a few cities back on an old radio. The batteries went dead and your little shoot up the store splintered the one I had, but ..." Jax stopped moving as a voice came over the air.

...there's food, water, running water and shelter. We're trying to make a new community. One without violence. A utopia. A fresh start. Come to Cleveland, go to the highest point, and there you'll see blinking lights. This is a recording, but we are here. Static then the recording starts over again. Jax had a destination in mind on where she wanted to go. And she wanted to pillage the shit out of them.

James didn't think she would drop her weapons so easily but it had been a hope. Now he was going to be forced to pay more attention to her, watch the body language like when she fiddled with the knife that she thought he hadn't seen. It was good though, she thought him a simpleton of something. He couldn't understand the motivation for her in doing that.

Did she like the solitude? Did she get off on being utterly alone. Clearly she enjoyed the looting, the question was had she met anyone else in the past five years and why weren't they with her?

She played the radio broadcast and James frowned, "I've heard many like this before. Vegas, Austin, Salt Lake, they all end up the same. The people are dead, probably from the solitude making them crazy. Or something. The group in Salt Lake all had their throats cut." He explained.

"But," he put the beast into gear and they started off, "I suppose it is as good of a place to go as any."

They drove for a while in silence, the road desolate and lonely. Yet oddly even in the silence James felt good having another person there. It was relaxing.

"Wanna tell me about yourself at all? What you did before the comet? Anything?"

Jax shrugged and didn't comment more. Two of those cities she had visited before as well. The Salt Lake one was her doing. She sat back her hand still caressing her knife as she thought about those poor people. It was only a handful, but enough. She thought she could change and be like them: sweet, kind, a sap. It worked for 2 days before Mr. Tibbons hit on her. She told him no, but he kept pushing or well actually he had said 'Come on', and that just pissed her off. Don't beg! So she took a butcher knife and -SWIPE-! She was staring at a pool of blood gushing down the front of his shirt. So beautiful. Too bad that kid Terry saw her and she had to shut his ass up, but his screams were heard and after an hour they were all gone. She hadn't meant to laugh as she looked at them all; dead.

"Huh," Jax said as she realized James had been talking to her. She blinked as he repeated the question and she shrugged with what was fast becoming a habit for her. "No I don't. You wanna talk be my guest. Tell me Mr. Military Man what does an engineer do for the military. Fix shit right? So why did you survive the comet? What makes you so damn special."

Jax finger nicked the blade and she felt the pain, but made no outward emotion that she felt it. She rubbed her finger against her thumb and felt the slickness of her blood. She pressed her finger hard against her jeans knowing that it'll stop but the pain was bliss. Besides it kept her from stabbing the nosy, bossy, asshole beside her.

James wished that he could relax, but it had been too long since he had any human contact he couldn't rest with her here. He felt like he had to be on his best behavior or some shit. Like she was judging him constantly. It was maddening and he just wanted to punch her lights out.

No that was a dark part of him that he didn't need to accept. He sighed as he pulled onto the highway and slammed through a bust Jeep in the way.

"I did special projects. I was hired because of my designs. I could fibracate anything they wanted. We were working on a new type of tank that could hold a smaller version of a railgun. The goal was to be able to zap plates out of the sky no matter how fast they were going. It was armored to the teeth as well, a direct hit by a Tomahawk missile wouldn't have dented the thing."

"I used some of that tank to make this rig." He told her. "It paid well and kept me out of most combat, though I still had to do all the training."

He glanced over at her, "So you don't wanna talk, but you wanna tell me anything about yourself? Maybe your favorite food before the comet or something?"

Jax thought she saw some sort of emotion flicker across his face, but she couldn't fathom what it was. She watched as he demolition derby his way through the debris and she could feel a happy high coming over her. Destruction was fun. She turned slightly as he spoke listening to the resonance of his voice. It was pretty cool what he was describing. Military life. Maybe if she had a stricter upbringing she wouldn't have turned out to be how she was. Oh, well.

Jax thought of all the different personas and decided on the one she liked most. She took it from a woman she met just after the comet had passed. It seemed she saw more people back then. Probably because the weak ones who did survive were also the first to die. Only the strong survive and from her best calculations it was pure luck to be living past the comet's tail. Jax turned to James.

"I was a boring old receptionist for a company called MGM. I did paperwork, type, that sort of thing. Nothing excited." Except MGM was one of the biggest companies in the before-world. Not only did it have its own theme park at Disney, but some of the biggest casinos. Oh, Jax knew alot about gambling. She had done it all her life. Too bad she ended up paying with it. She often wondered why she didn't get the electric chair.

"My favorite food was Werther's Caramel candies." Jax laughed as she thought of a memory. "Man, I loved those things. Could eat a whole bag in a few hours. Just love sucking and sucking on those things and when it was gone, grab another." Jax laughed again. "Hell, I once ki-!" Jax stopped talking as she realized what she had almost said and sat back against the chair.

"How long do you think it'll be before we get there?"

James glanced sideways at her as she told her story. Which was a barrel load of fucking bullshit if he ever heard it. IT didn't add up to her personality, or at least not what he had seen of her so far. She was too slick, to poised and battle-hardened for lack of a better word to be a simple paper slinger. The Event was only five years ago and solitude wouldn't turn a person violent like that, Jax had been violent before the event.

MAybe she had been a cop or something, but James put his money on criminal. She handled her gun well, and knew enough about danger to arm herself, but for know he could play along with her bullshit.

"We have a good eight, nine hundred miles ahead of us at least." He answered, "What about for fun? Did you ever go to a UFC fight, football game? You look like the type of girl that would like watching men punch each other in the face." He smiled at her as if teasing her. "I loved UFC, man I would watch the shit constantly on SPIKE, even if it was a rerun I watched it. My secret project before shit with to hell was building a fighting robot. I have gotten the framework finished and was just try to figure out how to best make it moble. It would have won me a noble fucking prize if the world still existed."

(((sorry for the delay. lost ... alot. back)))

Jax wasn't paying attention to see if he believed her or not. She didn't think he wouldn't. Why wouldn't he? Than again it's been a while since she bs'd someone she might not have used the right inflection and tone. Hell, she didn't care. They were on a new mission. Find the city, blend in, kill them all, and steal Jame's really cool vehicle. Jax slowly smiled at the thought before she realized she wasn't listening to him again.

"Really?! Damn that's a long way." Jax sat back with a huff and groaned as she listened to him talk about UFC. She had never truly gotten into the sport. She realized he wasn't going to shut up so she decided to share something real. Something that was a part of her life before the comet. Something that wasn't made up or someone else's life.

"Football. I liked football. I used to play. Tackle even. I learned how to tackle too. Bend low and push up; get them when they lease expect it and Boom!" Jax jumped forward her palms slapping together loudly. "They're down for the count." Jax laughed. "I played with guys alot until tackle football took on a new meaning." Jax laughed again, but this time it was deep and sensual.
