I don’t mind Dick Cheney telling a Democrat to fuck off. That’s my usual first reaction to most politicians — and not just Republicans.

Other than for its value as humor, my only real objection is that seemingly nobody in the Bush Administration can give an honest answer.

Obscene = offending accepted standards of decency

Nothing wrong with an obscene exchange dealing directly with an unpleasant matter.

I just wish they could be frank about calling his “f-word” a fucking obscenity.

This sounds to me like a "frank exchange of views". The two men argued about several subjects and one told the other one to go fuck himself. Presumably, they were frank during the discussion and you can't get a much more honest and direct opinion than having somebody tell you to go fuck yourself.

As for being offensive, some people are offended by "Gee whiz, oh golly". I am not offended and I would like to be in a position to tell all politicians to go fuck themselves.
