"Fuck!" came the concerned voice of special agent Alysa Newport while she dropped the empty mag and slammed another fifteen shot in to her 9mm pistol. Her eyes roamed the area but her gaze searched the shadows for any sign of the perp. "Calm down Alysa, breath," she whispered to herself as she pressed herself up against the side of the brownstone. Her chest rising and falling with each deep breath she took, "What the fuck is going on?" She asked herself as if she knew the answer and was withholding from herself!

She peered around the corner, her pistol held up to her chest, ready to be unleashed into the perp if he happened to be there waiting for her. The relief was obvious to anyone whom witnessed the heavy release of air and the closer of her eyes. Her fear now back in her belly instead of her throat like it has been most of this night. She was now wishing she waited for backup before chasing this sleek perp into the dark alleyways, but with the current case she has been working on, she really didn't have much choice, or did she?

A slight shuffle or scraping upon the blacktop brought Alysa back to what was occurring now. She took a deep breath before turning slightly to her right side so that she may look around the corner with a minimum amount of exposure. Her heart pounding in her ears peaked as the sound got closer to her. She shifted her weight as the fear rose up in her once more, her mind taking her back about ten minutes when she unloaded her entire clip into this perp and he still managed to grab and detain her for a few moments before she was lucky enough to dead drop her weight and catch the perp off guard and fumbled his hold upon her.

Now here it was about to happen once more! She had enough of this as she whipped around and leveled her gun ready to fire but instantly pulled her weapon up! "Get out of here it's dangerous to be here!" she voiced to the stranger whom only stared at here with a cold blank expression...

Jack was impressed to say the least. Ever since he got on the trail of the Circle, as the cult he was after liked to be called, he didn't expect one member of the local law enforcement to even get close to what they were inspecting. When magic was involved, they were usually off by miles. Leaving him to go after the real criminals.

Now, he was only half-correct. Special Agent Newport was not any typical local law enforcement. She was FBI, smart though young, and very keen on what she investigated. She had no idea what she was involved in. though she did pick up on the fact that the victims all had something special. Something in their blood. Jack had to say he was impressed. Though he also expected her to be dead already. The fact that she wasn't already spoke volumes of her skills.

Normally Jack wouldn't interfere. He did not want to draw normal people into this. But she had someone stepped right into it, and now... she was about to be killed by a Ghoul. A half-dead enthralled beast of what was once a man.

Ghouls were not undead... not truly. They were caught somewhere between life and death. Enslaved by a powerful magic user right at the moment of their death, more feral beasts then anything else. Though some did retain a bit of logic, like the one that was trying to tear her to pieces right now.

Sigh. Jack had no idea why he was stepping into this, but he just couldn't let her die.

He stepped out of the shadows, the concealment spell he had weaved over himself vanishing. She noticed him right away as she dropped the Ghoul. She leveled her gun at him, but was well trained enough to not just shoot him where he stood. Again, amazing skills.

"Duck." He said as he brought forth his focus, a red crystal orb in his hand as he channeled fire and kinetic energy though his body, and into his focus. In less then a second, a ball of red energy shot forth.

Again, she was good, Alysa ducked and the ball of flaming energy slammed into the Ghoul, and instantly erupted into an inferno of screaming body parts as it also went flying backwards into the brownstone building behind it.

He walked quickly to Agent Newport, grabbing her by the arm. "You have no idea what you have gotten yourself into. But if you want to live, come with me now!"

Fear, yes it was there gripping her like an iron vice making her wish that she had waited for backup but that point was gone and no need to keep kicking herself about for what is going to happen is going to happen. She couldn't just sit back and let others die. Her eye followed the length of the barrel, over the sight to his center chest. Her mind picking up that if he wanted her dead she would be dead already so she held her ground holding the situation at a standoff or at least she thought it was till he screamed at her to duck!

What happened next was mind locking beyond her understanding. Was she dreaming this whole encounter? Her mind reeled in confusion as the little orb blasted past her and erupting into a fireball sending waves of heat searing over her body. She turned and looked at the burning heap of screaming flesh. Without wasting time she spun to face the man once more. Her deep blue orbs looked upon his handsome frame. 'What he hell are you doing Alysa?' her mind asking her as her eyes finished the inspection of the man before her.

She was about to pull her eyes from him when his words reached her ears. Not to mention the pulling grip of her arm as he pulled her to her feet. She could only look at him and nod her okay to his statement of going with him if she wanted to live. What she just seen could not have happened but how else did that man burst into flames she asked herself. A question that she had no answers but this man had some and she wanted to know everything he could tell her! Starting with what the fuck is going on!

She followed the man down several alleyways, two kitchens, three more alleyways and then into an empty garage, where she pulled away from him."What the hell did you do to that man!" she yelled at him, her weapon pulled and down at her side. "What was that red Orb!" she eyed him, "Are you military using some high tech crab out on the streets?" she tried to place what happened into a logical answer..

Jack declined to say anything until he looked around. His eyes glowed for a moment as he focused all the light in the dimly lit garage to his eyes. No movement... no magic. Other then what he had used to hide his ride. With a wave of his hand a beat up red Ford F-150 from the 80s appeared before them. He was about to pull her in, but after taking another look around he sighed.

He might as well explain as best he could. "Technology can do many things, but what I do is... more primal, more ancient, more in-tuned with the world." He brought out the orb again. His focus. It actually changed color to a light green, and some of the weeds that had found root in the cracks of the old garage started to grow in the bright green light. "Its magic. Pure. Simple. For those that know how to harness it."

He could see he was losing her, and he sighed. "Look, you can believe me or not. But I promise you, I won't hurt you, you picked up things even my eyes attuned to the magical waves could not. That's why the vampires sent a Ghoul after you this night." He changed the color of his orb to a deep red and black, as a crackle of energy flickered across his worn out blue jeans, up his gray shirt and brown leather coat, and around his dark hair. "And we really don't have time to dick around. There-"

Jack was cut off as two more Ghouls accompanied with a Vampire stepped into the garage.

"Ah, Agent Newport, we were hoping to just kill you, but now you have led us straight to our old friend Jack. Jack... The Circle misses you. You should never have left us."

Alysa listened to the man with an open mind, for so much has happened this night that she didn't know what to believe in anymore. Her brow arced above her eye when his little display with the glowing ball began, but only smiled for once she seen a man make the statue of liberty disappear, no that was impressive. She was about to say something, but before she could he whipped out the believe me or not statement which stirred another emotion in her that she decided to keep it at bay, however she should not think ill of the mental case for they could not help it, but she could call for the padded wagon to get this guy some help.

She smiled at the little antic of the light show and wondered size of batteries the mircofiber wires required for kids would love to have this light display with sound effects, but this smirk additude changed when he claimed they didn't have enough time to dick around. His seriousness took her back a little and made her rethink over everything that has happened in this case. She looked into his eyes as what he was going to say was cut off by yet another voice. Her gaze followed his to the small group making themselves known.

Her weapon came up in an instant,"FBI! Do not take another step closer." she ordered them ignoring what lthey said to them except the part of Jacks involvement with them. She lightly turned so that she could see both parties..."Fuck me! Next time wait for backup!" she hissed as she took aim at the one speaking to them,"Who the Hell are you and what is this Circle you speak of?" her fingers fingered the trigger nervously....

The vampire, as Jack knew what it was, smiled showing his fangs as he stared at Jack and winked towards Alysa.

"She doesn't know does she. Ah the fantastic world of TV and tween romance novels. They cannot believe what is right before them." The Vampire turned to Agent Newport and bowed. He was wearing a open black vest over a white tank-top and golden cross on his chest. "I am Quinn, 5th Tower of the Circle. A pleasure to meet one so divine and smart as you."

He turned to Jack and chuckled. "You know, we were planning on indoctrinating her. Her skills and abilities have allowed her to rapidly travel the ranks of the FBI, but she is so stubborn. It was given that she must die. You... well since you left us Jack, it was a given."

"Agent Newport." Jack said as he focused his mental energy to form a shield between the two of them and the three villains before them. "I suggest if you are going to use that gun.. aim between the eyes on his two meat puppets. It'll be the only way you can take them down. As for Quinn... leave him to me."

A spark of black and red dots shot forth from behind Jack but were shot down by blue and white balls from Quinn, as the Vampire laughed. "Ah, this is going to be fun." Quinn said as his two Ghoul servants rushed Alysa.

'What the hell is all this?' Alysa's mind screamed confused,'How does he know my name? What the hell is up with the halloween antics!?' she questioned herself like she was surpose to know the answers of these inquiries, but what she did take in was the name Quinn and the fifth tower of the circle. She also stored the fact, if it was right or not, was that there are four other towers in this pentagram order.

She heard the statement of Quinn and only arched her brow in a quizzical, but yeah right look upon her face but before she could inquire or respond Jacks voice cut in giving her instructions on what to do. She could tell by the tone in his voice that it was all very real and if she wanted to live, she would best do what he said at this time. There would be plenty of time to ask what the hell is going on later!

It was a good thing she listened to Jack eariler and had her weapon already drawn and readied, for as jack called them, the meat puppets came rushing her just like the one she ran into eariler. Her mind reliving that moment caused her to hesitate just for a few seconds before putting her first shot into the center of the puppets eyes. But the second shot had to be rushed due to her hesitant moment and it only grazed the right side of the puppet's head spinning it just enough for her to get the third shot off, hitting the puppet where the second shot was surpose too, but still the creature had the momentum enough to hit her full forces sending her sprawling backwards and landing on her ass, with a disgusted look on her face she pushed the body off of her. Her eyes shooting up to see what was going on with Quinn and Jack..

Most battles fought between two of magical powers were often long, drawn out, and usually destroyed everything around them. Energy, especially magical energy had a way of doing that. Bolts of energy shot across from each other. Some hit the walls, some nearly missed Alysa.

The lights of the garage, were off, but as both of them drew power to each other, they began to flicker and blow into thousands of shards of glass showered everyone with shards.

Jack normally could have taken his opponent out quickly, but he had put a shield around Alysa to protect her from most of the magic being slung around. It wouldn't have stopped the Ghouls, but she had taken care of them, as if Jack had any doubt of that. So half of his mental focus was being drawn away. He just needed one moment to pull that away and attack in full force. Quinn knew this. He would sling a bolt of blue energy at her, coming from his cross, only to be deflected by Jack's Shield.

Neither man moved. And they might just end up bring the ceiling down on them. "Alysa. I need you go shoot Quinn. Right in the heart. Can you do that?" It was the only way. It wouldn't really hurt Quinn, but it should be more then enough to distract him for Jack to truly end this before more of the Circle showed up.

This was crazy! Was the thought running through Alysa's mind as she made several combat rolls around dodging the rays of light. It almost seemed like a battle scene in a Star Wars movie with all the streaks colored bolts. This situation was giving her one hell of a serious moment of confusion that she just wanted it to end as soon as possible. Her mind deciding that she must be dreaming this. Finally coming to a decision she voiced out, "So let's test this!" as she walked toward Quinn, deciding to put an end to this madness once and for all.

Upon her walk toward the man whom claimed to be named Quinn, a bolt of light was flung from a wave of his hand in her direction, but instead of trying to dodge this, she was going to let it hit her. The blue bolt of energy was deflected off an arc of reddish-black swirling colors . "Nice fireworks!" she laughed in her dreamstate existence. How in the hell can this be real! She yelled out hoping that the loud shout would wake her!

She turned at the words spoken to her by Jack, giving him that enough look upon her face. "Guys if this is a military testing site I get it! I will not investigate further! Just let me out of this bullshit!" she yelled looking up and around for the cameras. It was then that her mind really fucked with her, for she wondered that maybe she was in one of those dream machine things that the military uses to see how law enforcement would react to a resident evil situation! "Fuck this! They want a GI Jane response! They will have it!" she dropped down to a supported half-prone position, flipped her safety off, and unleashed the whole magazine into the face of the one called Quinn, "Game over bastards! Now get me out of this shit!" she screamed as she stood up, slapping her last clip into her weapon, she turned on Jack! "Your turn!" she pulled the trigger....

Jack could see that Alysa was not taking this very well. She seemed to still think this was some kind of high tech demonstration. Well at least she shot Quinn. Granted in the face, and whole clip in fact. Quin's face was still one of glee as his face exploded. Not the way Jack would have gone to take out a vampire, but at least it ended that situation. One of the few ways to kill a vampire was to remove its head from its body. You could also set it on fire and hope it didn't put itself out before it turn to ash. But having the head literately explode from gun fire was a new one on Jack. Close enough for government work and all that, he guessed.

He just didn't expect her next move was to turn on him, and pull the trigger. The first shot hit him in the shoulder, breaking though his shield. His reaction was out of desperation to protect himself and her. He formed his shield into the shape of a hammer, pure kinetic energy, and sent it flying into her gun before she could hit him again.

As the gun went sprawling away, Jack clubbed her with his kinetic-hammer on the back of her head. She dropped to her knees as he was on her pulling her as he grunted from his wounded shoulder. "Agent Newport that was not very smart." He grunted though his teeth as he hauled her to his truck and tossed her into the passenger side.

Getting in he started his old beat-up truck and ran over the remains of Quinn and his Ghoul minions. Jack didn't want to know if Quinn survived or not. He just wanted to get away. He glanced at her as she started to come too. "I am here to help. Shooting me was not very good way of showing gratitude."

He drove them out of the city and into a nearby wooded area. He had a cabin there. Cloaked from magical sight. It would be a good enough place to try and hopefully explain to her what was going on.

The images of the mans head exploding weighted heavily upon her more now that the anger was spent through her pulling of the trigger multiple times. She had enough of this game for there were real people out there that needed her to do her job in bringing down the heavy criminals, not play some petty mind altering testing for the military!

She watched the facial expression of Jack as the round tore into his flesh, his body's twisting motion followed the bullet's impact momentum which saved him for the second round that was fired. Her determination to show these clowns that she was one not to be fucked with! She had had enough and if being a total berserking bitch so be it.

What she didn't expect was the response she recieved from them as an unseen forced smashed into her hand, the pain was obvious that this was no dream state device but of something else, but what was more on her mind now was her weapon's location and could she get to it. She turned to go for it but a painful jolt from the back of her head cause bright white stars to pop up in her eyes only to be followed by darkness.

The pain was still there in the back of her head while she peered hazily through her partially opened eyelids. She moaned as the pain responded to her coming more alert to her surroundings. Her hand moving to feel the big lump on the back of her head! 'Ouch! Fuck!' she hissed as she instantly pulled her hand away from the now throbbing lump. "What the hell is going on and where the hell am I!?" she hissed as she realized that she was lying on a sofa in a living room. The sun was far and to the west indicating the day has come and gone. The scent of fried chicken filled the air...

"Ah, good, you are awake. Thought you might want something to eat. I am not much of a cook, but a farmer not far from here raises the best chickens. With a bit of trade in helping out with his crop, he gives me a few." Jack said as he walked out from the small kitchen with a plate with a plump cooked fried chicken on it. He handed it to and placed his hand behind her head. "Don't move. I am just checking your head... yeah sorry about that." He said as his hand touched the bump he had given her.

Point to his shirtless chest and shoulder, "It could have been worse though." The wound was already looking like 2 month old scar instead of a recent bullet hole though his flesh.

"Eat the chicken. It'll help with the bump. Trust me. Some very hard to find herbs and spices are mixed in as I cooked it. It'll help." He sat down on an old beat up wooden chair in front of her. "And once you have eaten, I'll answer any questions you have. And once you have heard the answers, I'll take you back to the city. But you will have to heed this warning. The Circle knows about you now. They won't stop till you are dead."

He leaned back and sighed. All he was wearing was a pair of old washed out blue jeans. On his chest were other scars, and a few odd tattoos as well. He was well built, but he was more of a thinker. But that wasn't going to stop him from at least keeping in somewhat shape.

Alysa forced her eyes open, took a few moments for the room to stop spinning before she could focus enough to look around the place and realize that they were no longer in the warehouse, but in a cabin style home. She instinctively began to look for her weapon, she gave a heavy sigh when she witnessed it on the fireplace mantle which was across the room.

She looked the way the voice was coming and wanted to make a dash for her weapon, but before she could! the one called Jack entered into the room carrying a plate of food, which he handed it over to her, it was the chicken she smelled earlier as she woken from her unconscious.

She pulled back from the half naked man as he touched the area of her head that quartered the bump. She glared at him but then focused upon his wound with a complete loss of control. "How long have I been out?" her voice near panic as she ran her hands across her body to make sure all was still upon her. She didn't understand what was going on but came to grips that if she don't go at this with an open mind it will make her go insane. She refocused upon what he was saying to her, her gazed dropped down to the chicken as he explained about the healing herbs that he used and how it would help. She declined as she placed the plate down upon the sofa table.

She looked at the wound once more,"Is that spice what you took?" she had to admit that this was the strongest evidence he had so far to back up his words. She wouldn't still have this bump or headache if she was drugged for a long time. She began to fear what was happening. "Jack, is this shit for real?" she finally whispered out..shaking her head lightly, his final words hitting her the hardest... Her death..

Looking over his body at the scars and tats.." What the hell..tell me the story!" she picked up the plate and began to eat, to her surprise it was really good...

"How long have I been out?"

Jack responded with "17 hours, 12 minutes, and 37 seconds." He winked at her, but was disappointed when she placed the plate down and didn't try his chicken. Well, she didn't like fried chicken. Great. I'll just have to remember that. But Jack knew it was she didn't trust what he put in the chicken... yet.

"Is that spice what you took?"

"Yes, and no. Yes I had my own chicken, but I have to channel positive energy into them as I cook. Its, hard to explain how magic works, just trust me when I say the combination is what does the healing. The Herbs just have a way of making the healing process be a lot easier." He could have put positive energy into a candy bar, but it wouldn't have been as effective. He just declined to tell her that. For the time being.

"Jack, is this shit for real?"

"Very." He sighed himself as she whispered that. She really didn't want to believe but at the same time she was trying. At least Jack could see her cracking. It was never easy to have the wall of reality come crashing down around you.

"What the hell..tell me the story!"

He laughed. Well at least she was eating. "Its... hard to explain. And I have never been good at explaining how magic works, mostly because it is actually different with everyone. It depends on how they approach channeling energy, their focus, it can by the Dragon's Eye that I use -the crystal ball, yes its a Dragon's Eye, just don't ask how I got it- to a very hard to use language, like ancient Latin, or Quinn's cross. It is something important to them."

He shook his head and sighed. "But instead of explaining how to channel magic, let me tell you why it is that no one believes... well really believes in it. Over a 1000 years ago, with the rise of the Christians and their Church, the dark ages, we hid ourselves, and most of the powers and those that wrote history, just made us into a fable." He looked straight into her eyes as he spoke, never breaking contact. "Many of the creatures you believe to be nothing more then a bed-time story actually do exist... in one form or another."

"Magic has been around since the time man first discovered fire and the wheel. Though back then they would have been more Shaman then the Mage or Witch you will see on TV. It was primal, but it helped man-kind survive. After a while, as we became more adept at the primal energies of the world, a group was formed. The Circle. In most cases, The Circle was just more of a way to help train, harness those that had a gift in magic use.

"But of course like all things, those with power are feared by those that did not have it. The church didn't want 'pagan' beliefs anymore, Not the Christians, not the Muslims, not the Jews. At least not outside of their structure, so they waged a war upon us. It also didn't help that these Prophets and Messiahs were... something else. Don't ask, because I don't know where to begin with them. Lets just say that after a while, The Circle decide it would be best to just hide, and not be a major factor in the world. And in many ways that has been a good thing. Look at the technology that has come about. Had we still been in power I know we would still be riding horses... or at least magical infused flying carpets." He chuckled at this, but then began very serious.

"So we helped make us into legends and fictional stories so people would forget us. There are groups out there that hunt us, that know we exist, but other then quiet wars, you never hear about the contacts between us and them. But to get to the main point. About 100 years ago, The Circle changed. It wanted back in. It helped some very bad men come to power in hopes that they could use them as figure heads for a new world that they could control.

"But we lost those attempts... and now they are planning something else. Something I wanted no part of. The total and complete enslavement of man and woman. So ten years ago, I left." He paused for a moment. He looked at her. "How old do you think I am? Late 20s, early 30s?" He shook his head. "I am 126 years old." He let that hang for a moment.

"Anyways, for the last 10 years I have been doing my best to fight against them. You are the first to get so close out side of those that do know about us, to see what is going on. Granted you didn't know what you were following, but you did hit on the blood. Everyone else thought it was someone playing at vampires. But amazingly you knew there was something special about their blood. You would call it a blood disorder, we call it fuel for our magic." He sighed as he rubbed his wound.

"I know that is a lot to take in, and I didn't mean to preach. I just thought it was best to get as much out as possible."

Alysa.'s gaze drifted from the handsome form of the half naked man before her to the wooden floor beneath them. Her solid blue orbs stared into nothingness but appeared as if she was studying the strange crack formations in the wood, but in fact, she didn't even see the floor after the first few seconds of staring it at. Her mind blank, her heart felt as if all humankind was betrayed from time long ago to now being hunted to extinction.

Those deaths were not the homeless, nor the unknowing, they were the hunters that jack told her about, the ones that are hunting down this Circle. She looked up at him with a little concern in her eyes. "Those people that were killed wasn't homeless or just victims, they were hunters that were being killed and their blood taken for some strange reason." she was making a statement of fact instead of a question.

Her eyes dwelled deep into his eyes as he did to her earlier, but it wasn't to indicate a strong point like his was, but a searching move for a stable ground for them to stand on, trust. " Why take the hunters blood?" This whisper was for her ears as she tried to put the information that jack told her into a motive, for if you find the motive you find their goal, then the means of how they are getting this done comes into view.

She chuckled for even if she found this path! How in the hell was she going to explain this to Langley! She looked way from him for a moment to digest all that she was computing inside her mind. She even tried to come up with an action plan but had no idea where to start.

"So, they want me dead for they think I know too much?" This put the fear in her but she pushed it down quickly. "Can I assume there is five towers in this circle?" and they all want you dead.."So I ask you do you have any friends at all in this mess?"

Jack sat there and stared into those blue eyes. The more she knew, the more she would get into trouble. Her asking him if he had any friends brought a lump in heart for a moment. He couldn't tell her about that. Never would.

He got up and looked out the small window that was behind him. "I have a few friends. Most though are not members of the Circle anymore. 50 years ago we found out what was going on. Many left, I stayed for as long as I could to see if I could change things. Many are dead. But a good few are still there, waiting, doing what they can. Or keeping their heads down."

He turned to her his arms crossed along his chest. She was pretty. He had to admit. Was it her confidence or her can do attitude? "The Blood of these men and women, their descendants, is special for many reasons. They were touched in a way that I cannot explain."

Should he tell her. The other reason they targeted her. Yes it was true because she had caught on. She just didn't know the other reason. She was too highly placed for them to go after her so soon, but her involving herself in all this shifted their plans. Screw it. She had a right to know.

He walked right up to her and leaned down to her face. "Just like you are touched." He placed his hand on her shoulder. "You have the same blood in your veins. Special, magical. With it, The Circle can finally take over the world."

Her question about others looked like she hit him with an Abrams tank on steroids as he reeled inwards to hide the reaction, the look on his face was one of remembering something painful, his hard swallow was the lump in his throat threatening to choke the very life out of him, his instantly getting up to hide the lingering pain from her told her there was more to the story that he wasn't telling her.

She started to get up to give him comfort but second guessed the wisdom in doing so. She herself knew of loss of loved ones, but this pain was more as if he blames himself for this tragedy. She could not go that far into that area for her partner survived and didn't blame her for her rookie mistake, a mistake she has never repeated till today... She over estimated her skill and was caught off guard. She would be dead if this man didn't come to her aid, which now made her wonder why, for now she knew it wasn't a military experiment but something more serious. Then why?

When he turned back toward her he had transformed his look of pain back into the serious matters at hand face. His arms holding a position of 'this is how it is' appearance unsettled her a little as he dumped more information into her already confused mind. She eyed him when the fact came out that these hunters were special but couldn't explain why or refused to explain why gilled her slightly, but she didn't push the matter.

She pushed back in her chair as if it had wheels and she could get away from his grasping hand. She bite her lip in fear as she remained still and waited for whatever was to came next and it was a good thing she was sitting down already!

"Whattt? What are you talking about?" She shot her gaze into his eyes with even more confusion settling in. "I think it's time for you to take me back to town so we can get all this out in the open in my safe zone." she eyed him closer, wondering what angle he was trying to get her in..

Jack knew he shouldn't have said anything. She wasn't ready. But damnit, they didn't have time. She needed to know. But he needed to make sure she was willingly to listen. Sigh.

"Alright. Lets go. I'll take you wherever you want." He said as grabbed a blue shirt and his brown jacket. Putting them on he turned to her and raised his eye brow.

Following him out to his truck, Jack noticed she kept her distance. And was awful quiet. Sigh. He just let her open her own side and get in as he got into his own. He tried to crank the vehicle, but it wouldn't turn over. Sigh.

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about old engines, do you?" He sighed. He had no doubt she would think this was some kid of ploy. It wasn't. And none of his traps he had set up around his cabin had gone off, so he doubted it was a trap from the Circle. "I hate this truck."

She watched how he reacted to her wanting to put things in zone of comfort, and was caught off guard by his reaction when he was so willing to go wherever she wanted, definately not a reaction of someone whom had an angle to work out. However, if she had her choice right now between one man compared to fifty heavily armed swat members, it was a no brainer choice, or was it. She swirled this thought around in her head and what kept popping up was the fact that if all this was true, and these people were so strong, they would have members in every law enforc... She froze.

Her gaze followed Jack along with her body but her mind was focused on running all of Jacks facts across all the facts in her life. Testing the waters of this new information, she analyzed how people acted, reacted to her. Her pace slowed even more as things started to fall into place that she never understood why they happened but just went with it as acts of life, but now, it all took new meaning to her. Jerry, Sara, Jennifer, Mike they all seemed over protectant of her since day one of her joining the Bureau.

'fuck!' her mind screaming that she is just correlating with him and seeing things that supports his facts. How can any of this be! She would have been told by her..she nearly fell over when the most important aspect of her life just hit her. She walked as if she was just zombieized without the craving of human flesh. She got into the truck and stared at the floor board of the truck running the information through her mind once more.

When Jack asked her about knowing anything about engines she only responded with, "I was adopted!" her parents were killed when she was just an infant and was adopted only weeks after her parents were killed according to her findings that she done long ago. This would explain her not knowing any of this! She felt sick...

Jack had been resting his head against the head rest of his seat when she blurted out the one thing he really did not expect. "What?" Was all he could say at first. He looked at her, staring down at the floorboard. This was information he had known about. But the way she just came out with it, it was easy to say he was more then surprised. Shocked, and slightly confused.

And in an instant he could understand some of what was going on. Why she had followed him to the truck so quiet. She was processing all of this, and coming up with things. Heh. She had one analytic brain on her. He leaned in so she could see his face out of the corner of her eyes.

"Well... ah." He said. She was still in something of a fragile state. He bet she was better at taking down a drug dealer or mobster then she was sharing this information. So he needed to take this carefully.

"I know. They took your parents long ago. A friend of mine though... saved you and hid you." He didn't want to tell her more. Not now. "I am... actually surprised you knew about this. The people.. that raised you. They told us they would never tell you that you were adopted. How did you know that?"

Alysa's mind ran down her timeline, the events, places where she went as a child with her parents, her high school years and all seemed normal except a few things that now seemed out of place but made sense now! What a mess! She reeled back from her thoughts in anger, feelings of betrayal consumed her more now than the day she found out that she was adopted. "WHY did they do this to me!" She retched in anger, strong emotions ripped at her gut fueling the retching motion of her throat.

Tears of long ago joined the here and now betrayal tears that filled her eyes and slowly ran down her cheek. She fought back the logic that this was done to protect her for the pain of betrayal was intense. The love, the feeling of comfort of her parents ripped from her as not just one secret they held from her but two! who were these people! Just drones sent to watch her! To keep her blood from....NO! NO! Her mind screamed! "Fuck You! ... Fuck You!" she hissed at Jack, fury filling her eyes, her body trembled with raging power that she has never felt before. She breathed heavily, taking in deep gulps of air trying to calm down, but her mind continued to process everything and it was overwhelming!

She wasn't a hunter like she first thought! No! She was more important! Her eyes shot up to Jack, the rage burning in her eyes, her breathing control all but gone, for now all was coming together! "You fucking know everything! You wasn't staying back to fight the Circle! You was waiting for me! For this fucking day! This is why we are out here so far from everyone! Fuck You! I don't want this!" she screamed, she could feel the power surging through her body, wanting to explode, wanting to release.

Then fear hit her just as hard as the rage! She twisted with pain as the energy grew stronger within her...

Jack could feel he static in the air. Taste the ozone on his tongue. Smell the burning iron in Alysa's blood. Outside clouds were forming, light gray at first, but quickly becoming dark ugly blobs of black. A bolt of lightning struck a tree nearby.

Alysa was somehow tamping into her abilities. And it was frightening awesome. Jack had no idea she would be so strong. So able to pull so much engery into herself from the outside world. Many Mages could pull energy from another source, but it was as if she was pulling energy from everywhere. Even him.

"Alysa clam down. Calm down!" She was untrained. If he didn't stop her now she would kill both of them. "Yes. I was waiting. I was waiting because it was the right thing to do. If I and my friends came to you sooner... they would have come after you."

Another bolt of lighting struck right in front of the truck. What electronics it had were fried in an instant and Jack was barely able to keep the shock from hitting him. Alysa just sat there scared, angry, and still the energy was building up inside of her.

He decided on one quick coarse of action. He slugged Alysa in the chin. Her head snapped to the side as his fist connected. Hopefully that would snap her out of it. "I am sorry. You have to snap out of it. Calm down. You would have torn yourself up if I hadn't done that. I know this is a lot to take in..."

Jack sighed. He never was really good at explaining himself. He always screwed things up. The pain of his lost- No he couldn't dwell on that now. "Are you able to listen? Are you able to understand why you need to calm down. Look outside. See that storm cloud. That is you. You need to calm down!"

Red turned white for a few seconds while the pain expanded across her face from the point of impact. Her eyes witnessing the white stars that so many assaulted people claim to see. she closed her eyes momentarily while she fought to gain control of her senses. Her hand cupping the impact area while her gaze locked onto Jack's eyes. Her rage broken from its heightened level but remained due to the punch, but restrained upon the words that were spoken to her.

She followed his command to look upon storm clouds, but got confused when he informed her that the storm was her doing, then the smell of burnt wood mixed with the scent of burning wires filled her nostrils. She hunched her nose up with the strong odor. "What the hell just happened?" her eyes telling the story of her not recalling what just occurred, "and why did you hit me?" she recalled that he stated that he had to hit her or she would have killed herself, but she didn't understand how? Or why this was happening . she only knew she was more confused now than before.

She turned toward him as she recalled that he was going to explain something then at the last moment pulled it back under his protection. She shook her head slightly indicating her annoyance of this secret keeping. She lowered her head from his blank stare to the floor board. "So can you at least tell me why they want me when it's obvious there are many of you...you whatever you consider yourselves to be?"

Jack sighed. "I hit you because you don't know how to control your powers. You were able to pull more in to yourself then you can currently handle. It actually scared the ever loving crap out of me." He swung his truck door open and stepped outside. The dark clouds were now a few spots of white fluff in the sky now. But the smell of the burning tree nearby and his ruined truck was heavy in the air. Damn she was powerful.

Looking back at her, he saw her looking at the floor board. She was so lost and scared herself. Something she was not use too. He could tell. She liked to understand things, have rational thoughts for them. He told her too much. He was a god damn idiot.

"Get out of the truck. I promise you, I won't hit you again." He sighed waiting for her as she obeyed. He looked over at the burning tree and nodded his head towards it. "To explain why they want you, I want you to focus. Focus on putting those flames out. Clear your head. Just... see the flames die, kill the oxygen that feeds them. Come on. I know you can do it. Just... feel the tree, the fire, the air, and yourself. Pull the air away from it. You have the power within you."

Crazy? Had to be was the feelings that was coursing through Alysa's mind while she glared at the black surface of the floor board. Mages, vampires, all this shit belonged in fairy tales, but yet here it was choking her sanity with each passing moment. She tried to put a logical method of how this could be but it was past that point. As Spock said on her favorite old tv show :Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.

She looked up from her mental assessment of herself gaze of the floor board to Jack whom at the moment held that key of understanding and still held things back from her. Was it fear? If so, what was it? Was it the Circle? Or something else that goes much deeper? Or could it be that she is reading more into this than what was there? No, he said they wanted to take back control so it wasn't reading more into it but uncertain of the means of doing so, but Jack knew and wasn't saying. His spoken words for her to get out of the truck beckoned for her to continue down this path he was leading her.

When she stood next to him, his words almost made her laugh upon hearing them, but the tone they were said in was nothing to laugh about. He was trying to answer her question the only way that most people would accept and that was through sight, seeing meant believing and that was a painful fact right now for it has been shoved down her throat since opening the file to this case.

She did what he told her, she stared into the flames, felt the heat from them. She became the tree, she felt the burning of the flames, heard the cry of the tree as it snapped and crackled from its assault. She felt the air feeding the flames as if it was a mother feeding it's child, cold careless of what happens to any of them for it had no enemy except a barrier that it could not break, she thought of a sphere. She wanted it all to end, the air, the fire, and the pain of the tree so instead of just killing the flame she removed all life from the sphere...
