The Forum Crush

How many people here have had a "crush" (an admiration/interest/obsession with no realistic expectation of reciprocation) on another forum member or a person you knew only online? Is it rare or does it happen to you all the time?

Did you ever contact your crush or reveal your thoughts to them? Do you think a crush would lose its importance or fantasy potential if it is revealed? Is it the secrecy and the lack of response that makes it interesting, or is it only fun if you can develop it into a flirtation? Has any flirtation ever moved offline? Is that a guarantee of ruining something that's fun?

I can come up with a dozen more questions about this idea. I've got a story going with this at the core and I'd really love to hear other people's experiences and thoughts.

Yes, only one. Never before and never since.

It does not happen to me all the time, but I have had the occasional crush. I don't often tell the person who has caught my attention. Mostly I admire from afar.

On the occasion I do tell someone of my crush, it's usually because we've talked for a while and we've reached a comfort level that allows such revelations to be made without one or the other of us feeling too vulnerable.
But everyone loves McKenna! :D

Well, do you think admitting/revealing a crush ruins it? Or is it a chance worth taking? (assuming all you are aiming for is an online flirtation or something similar)

It does ruin that lovely, intoxicating feeling of being terrified you're making a complete ass of yourself.

In an incredibly well turned phrase, YES!

I love you. That's such a perfect way of putting it.

(Not a crush; I sincerely adore Carson for all of his wonderful qualities. :D )

Awww, shucks. *digs ground shyly with hoof*

I  Cloudy. :)

(In a carefully respectful way that entails not being eaten by a dragon.)

I have a crush on this board. It's all kept in perspective though. It's a simple, innocent crush and I never leave the realm of reality.

She doesn't know in so much as I've never said anything about it, but if I were to tell her, I don't think she'd be too suprised.

Hi, you all seem to know each other and I'm not a regular here but the question is interesting so I'll plow in...

I'm a seriously married woman and crushes scare me a little because I'd be afraid they would interfere with my commitments. I joined Literotica many years ago (with my husband's full knowledge) and one of the first guys I met I fell in crush with. My natural way of handling the crush was to avoid him like the plague, interact with him only on the board and not in PM. He's a very manly man (none of this metrosexual stuff) and wantonly, animalistically sexual. In retrospect, I think that I allow myself to fantasize about him because he's not a real person to me, just this sort of monolithic cock-y guy (pun intended) who happens to be atrociously intelligent but a bit brusque and too self-absorbed for my tastes...so he's not perfect, but he's extremely desireable and hot, IMHO.

Yes, I have a long-standing crush on a Litster who posts erotica.

Thanks for asking :)

I imagine that having a Un-Valentine's day event might be interesting around here....to arrange for someone to send anonymoud virtual roses to various crushes....

Mine knows (along with the rest of the fucking world.) I don't have to worry I'm making an idiot of myself because I know I am.

Well, at least you aren't making an idiot of yourself with no one watching...although, somehow, I can't imagine you making an idiot of yourself in a way that would make someone else THINK you were being an idiot.

Or something like that. You don't make that impression. I may have to go diagram that sentence to figure out what I said.

If you're going to be a fool, what better reason is there?

Can't imagine one, myself. As long as no one makes you wear a costume that chafes....

*sigh* Does that avatar make me look wanton and easy?

As to the crush question: no, never, none. HOWEVER, that sentence has really gotten my juices flowing. ;)

Mia, I for one enjoy seeing new faces about.

I think cruches scare any of us, really, whether we're married or not. For me, they make me feel uncertain and just a little bit out of control. I think that's also why I try to avoid them.

Keep posting, I enjoyed reading your views.

I've never had a crush on anyone online, although I've met quite a few people that I woudn't mind being friends with and hanging out with if we were ever to meet offline. It's not really a rare occasion . . . I suppose it depends on my level of 'net activity at the time. That whole "opportunity" factor being what it is and all.

It's okay. You can tell me. ;)

(no really, pm me and tell me who it is cuz I'm nosy!)

crushes?

RL I've had lots and made a complete ass out of myself every time, or just got shot down.

Online?
Hard to say. I mean the written word to me is the best way to convey anything. So when I read some of the posts here I do form opinions about people and sort them into who i like and ignore, but to quote Hugo I'm a bit sporadic in posting to have any true crushes and I seriously doubt anyone is crushing on me.
