The 'How To' Contest Support Thread

Thanks. :) I figured I was the only one with those issues and it was really nothing more than a way too revealing and personal piece that people would simply backclick out of.

Are you kidding? I seriously think you're fulfilling a deep need with yours. We can all use more confidence in ourselves and our "naughty bits."

I guess cuz we rarely talk about it, I really thought I was the only one. Kinda enlightening for me, actually.

I love the front page of the "how to" contest... all those tools... fun :) (Although it still says "Earth Day" at the top of my browser... oops!)

You guys rock! I'm RCVing today... Already did Sophia Jane's, which I want to give a shout-out for... highly recommend!

Thanks.

my story is up. yay. now i'll go put the link in my signature so you can all klick on it...

So, I just got a really nasty pc on my how-to, and surprisingly, it's signed. I'm conflicted on whether to write him back and offer a little debate on his opinions (in a polite way cuz everyone is entitled to their opinion) or to just leave it alone. Thoughts?

If you do decide to write back, invite him to the AH. ;)

I responded to him... in the comments section... for his benefit, but for others reading, too...

remember, his comments say a lot more about him than they do about your essay, SJ...

Oh, I know. Because there's nothing at all sexist in encouraging women to enjoy their bodies and their sexuality, particularly since men so often benefit from it. He probably only read the title and description.
I started to respond to him in my comments but I decided not to. At least not yet.

When's huntin' season open on that flying puddy tat? :catroar:

Sophia Jane, your entry may not win, but you done did good. The low physical self-image most women seem to have has always puzzled me. In one sense I'm grateful for its existence for otherwise the wife-unit would no-doubt have made a much better match.

That's an issue I'm trying to touch on in my WIP Nude Day contest entry. Unless a "How-To" inspiration comes along, I'll probably give Lit readers a break and not enter this one. BUT, I will be keeping an eye on you folks.

Rumple Foreskin

I hope you'll come up with something, Rumple. Don't leave us out in the cold this time. ;)

What were you going to do?

And elfin, I was serious about someone doing a piece on titles and descriptions.

Bluff called, I suppose. I'll try and sketch out something short by the weekend but then I'll need you to glance through it for me - OK?

Struggling

Is anyone else struggling with this contest?

I just can't get into it. I want to but I just don't like the format. The instructional essay style is not me.

Even the entries, although they are great (please don't think I am slating them - I respect you all a whole lot more for being able to do this) they are just not my thing. I can appreciate that they are well written and informative but the style doesn't particularly interest me. I've tried and tried but can't motivate myself with this one.

Is anyone else in the same frame of mind or am I just being a mardy bum?

I actually really like this contest... I enjoy the how-to's and have read a lot of the ones already written (not for the contest) for info... to each his own, right?
