The Hypochondriac Cafe

So, you gonna tell me about it or what? okay
Where is it? legs, feet, hands
Are there raised blisters? yes, irregular shaped with red border (not ringworm which is concentric like a bullseye)
Flat rash? no
Red? yes
Purple? no
Deep itching or surface itching? itching is itching....
Does it burn? sometimes
Does it feel good to scratch or does it hurt to scratch? both

the doctor says its "allergic reaction to an unknown agent." he gave me 2 rounds of cortisone and it went away, but came back as soon as the steroid stopped... he can't give me anymore so told me i had to see a dermtologist. and from there probably an allergist :(

OK, I'm not a doctor, but I'll tell you what I think.
Your rash is following a classic pattern of a person with an over-taxed liver.
Your liver cleans out your body, is responsible for removing toxins from all of your systems.
It's not uncommon at all for your liver to get kind of ... tired, over-used, etc. When this happens, it starts sending those toxins out to your dermal system (your skin). The result is a rash, a very itchy, blistery rash that starts on your extremities and comes inward.

My unprofessional recommendation is a minor liver cleanse. Not as painful as it sounds, I promise. If you're interested, I'll post more. It's mostly a temporary and slight diet modification, increased fluids and some herbs. Let me know and I hope it's helpful!

Liver problems? but I quit drinking two weeks ago. that's not fair :(

:)
Not liver problems, per se. Just an over-taxed liver, easily repaired with a couple of days of herbs and super-hydration. And then you can go back to your heathen lifestyle.

By the way, most western medicine doesn't believe dick about the liver causing rashes, and such. If you want a more professionaly opinion than mine, check with your local Chines Medicine Practioner. Did you ever start acupuncture? Cause that would help too!

Maybe you're pregnant. He probably overlooked that one simple test. When I was pregnant I had a horrible rash the whole time. go pee on a stick and tell us if that was the problem.

You too probably had a stressed out liver. Very common in pregnant women.
And neurotic beer-drinking writers.

From what the midwife told me it was a reaction to one of the pregnancy chemicals.

I'll let everyone know what the dermatologist says.

Yeah, that's the common thought about it.
But a liver clense can really straighten a rashy girl out.
If you get pregnant again, we can talk.

If the dermatologist doesn't have an answer, or simply prescribes more cortisone or steroids, let me know, OK? You need to treat the cause, not mask the symptoms...

I hang out on this site too much.
I hope you are feeling better. When I had chicken pox, my mom made me bathe in baking soda water. It really helped the itch. Don't know if it'll work the same, but you could try it.

Haha. No, that would be Batman.

Update: Now I have a cough, just like I suspected I would after going to dinner with my germy nephews. :(

I'm going to quarantine myself like Howard Hughes one of these days. Fall allergy season starts in about two weeks. Maybe by then I can have a severe chest cold and allergies!

I still itch pretty bad, but I go to the doctor this morning. I hope he can make it stop.

Good luck! Sure it's not poison Ivy? you hanging out in the bushes again checking out guys swimming in speedos???

I have kind of a low-level sinus headache thing.
And Dar, I think I caught your nose sore.

I'm in a sadistic mood this morning. :D

So I feel great! No aches, no pains, no rashes, nothing. :p
