There was this red head I used to sit in line next to every so often. He'd talk about his girlfriend and job in construction, and I'd talk about my cat and how remedial college classes were going. One day I actually got up enough nerve to ask how badly his sun burn hurt. He laughed and pulled up his sleeve to show that it wasn't a burn, it was just where all of his very red freckles had massed together in self defense. The edge was most definitely not a tan or burn line, too spotty for that.
