I should be writing my little paws off... I've got deadlines galore... and 8 open pieces... ahhhhhh!!!

so why am I eating peanut butter on graham crackers, drinking mint tea and lingering on Lit? Hm???

Anyone have a cure?
"Selena," my dear,

Is not posting your question here a bit like planning an AA meeting at the local pub? Or, inviting your friends hooked on porno to meet for therapy on the Internet? Hey, now that I think about it ... count me in! ;)

Sky!

Great to see you!

(And would you get up outta the snow? Every time I see that AV I cringe!) :cathappy:

got about 700 words written night before last, and nothing yesterday. I'm going to make myself finish this segment today, damn it.

When I'm hopelessly stuck on a story, I step away from the computer (I know it sounds crazy, but it can be done) and continue the story in the special notebook that I have set aside for that purpose. I just write whatever comes to mind to continue the story, both good and bad, make changes and when I return to the computer (hours, even days later), I feel ready to continue and I'm also armed with the words***eas to use to further the story. :D

Does that help?

I do almost the same thing.

When I'm hoplessly stuck, I get my notebook, and write it out longhand. For some strange reason, it seems to work.

I guess it's because the Internet is such a temptation. Pleasure Island for the wicked Id in all of us. ;)

Writing vs. Writing Effectively

When I'm 'in the mood' it seems I write more effectively. If I force myself to write, it normally turns out ineffective. So, in my mind, I'm better off writing when the mood strikes and taking a hiatus when the mood is absent. If a story feels 'forced' you're not doing anybody any favors.

Yeah, that's true. Welcome to Lit, by the way. ;)

Glad it works for you...I would need to take a class in Egyptology, and hieroglyphics to decipher my handwriting....I should have been a doctor...I have the prerequisite terrible handwriting...
