I had one last week -- right down to wanting the quiet chain saw to remove parts of the brain -- and just cursed everyone who told me 'you'll grow out of them.' Mixed blessing, they've become less frequent with age (about the same age as yours) but that seems to make them harder to deal with... Can't win situation...

Hope you got some rest and broke the cycle cause the cycle sucks in a bad way...

Thanks to all who sympathized and empathized with my poor head. Damnit, I'm two years *past* the point where they're pretty much supposed to disappear, yet the last eight months or so, they've increased after years of decreasing frequency! Pbpbpbpbpbttt! to the statistics!

But yes, the migraine is gone - I'm just left with the "hangover" symptoms, feeling as if that part of my head was bruised and battered into mush. I know from almost 40 years of them, though, that this too will pass within a day, and I'm finally functional again, which is a good thing, because I have some deadlines I *have* to meet over the next six days. I'm going to have to scramble some to meet them, but I can do it... but it'll likely mean a reduction in my time here for a few days.

Again, thanks, y'all... the support one gets here, no matter what the issue, is one of the big reasons I lub dis place!

Ugh, my father suffered from such problems, only his were an almost daily event and were with him until his death. He would get so bad he would have to retire to his bedroom which had specially fitted blinds and extra thick curtains to block the light and lay there holding his head until it subsided. It was difficult to watch as you knew there was nothing you could do and yet he was in such bad pain for hours and days on end. He had all the tests possible and they could never pinpoint a reason why he suffered so much.

After a cluster of migraines, I went to my doc and was put on Topamax. Well, generic topiramate. I've found it very very helpful in reducing my migraines overall. Perhaps you shold consider it. I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better. Even the ones I get aren't as bad - I hardly ever throw up anymore. Just a thought. I've even toughed a few out without medicine! Since I'm only allowed to take Tylenol or my migraine med, I tend to try to wait it out.

That my husband and I can still cause each other so much pain is hard, and what makes it even harder is that neither of us want to. That we still care makes it worse and better at the same time.
