I just got word that my brother is on the standy list for deployment. His entire company will be in Iraq by wednesday the 12th, but at any moment they could call him and tell him to have his ass at the base and ready to ship with in an hour.
I've known that this has been coming for a while. But it's just hitting me that my baby brother is going into a war zone and I may never see him again. He actually hugged me when he was up here, he never hugs anyone but his baby girl, I've barely seen him touch his wife, but he hugged me before he left and held me for a min, both of us not saying anything. And now he's leaving, he's really leaving.
I guess part of me thought that this was all some sort of dream and he wouldn't really go to Iraq, something some where would stop that from happening. I mean my brother's military career hasn't exactly been a typical one. He was in AIT for a year because he snaped a tendon in his leg. He has some sort of back problem that they're not sure about that got him on the do not deploy list, but he got yanked off of that with in 24 hours, they said they'll fix him there. He's been on a delay for a week now because his baby is due on the 20th, but now it's sure, it's offical, they're packing up his stuff and the house so he can go at a moment's notice.
my baby brother is really leaving this time.
