The Isolated Blurt BDSM Thread

Well I even posted those Christmas parcels off, but on the way thought I still had 2 family members I hadn't attended to and thought a nice calendar of The Netherlands is always appreciated. LOL, I picked them up on the way for a good price, then found out it would cost 2 1/2 times (each) the price I paid for each of them to send....I brought them back home to debate whether to send or just take them in my luggage for free in January.

Catalina:catroar:

I'd do the luggage thing. It cost me $56 to post the two parcels I had - next year Sir said to just send money and let them choose their own gifts!

Last year the kids were here for the wedding so I gave them their gifts to take back themselves - lol I must have forgotten how expensive postage is in two years

I'm also sorry to hear that cutie's gone :( She had some interesting things to say and made some great contributions to the boards here. In any case, I hope she's happy :rose:

Nope, nothing so dramatic but I'm not saying anymore except I am very disappointed.

Catalina:catroar:
Whatever her reason(s), I like and trust CM enough to feel that if she felt this action was necessary at this point in her life, I can accept that. Of course, I'm disappointed that it seems we may be bereft of her wit and wisdom, because she has/had a great deal of both, but it was and is her wit and wisdom, and therefore hers to do with as she wishes.

As far as posts "belonging" to Lit once posted, it seems to me illogical to assume that, since Lit does provide one the ability to delete one's posts.

Interestingly, not all boards allow this. I'm on another board where you can only edit your posts for 20 minutes after you make them.

I will miss the mouse.
I think the majority of us will miss her. I do wish her all the best in her life, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to have been able to know her (even from the limited viewpoint of online/forum) and interact with her. She's a class act.

Personally I don't think that the posts belong to Lit once they're posted either. Once in a while things happens, and you have to take some actions to change stuff.

I also think that the siteowners have that opinion, since this it in the forum guidelines:

12. We will not remove your posts or your account. You have the ability to edit out any text and remove any attachments on your own. The administrators will not delete your posts just because you changed your mind about what you said. You can edit your own posts as you see fit. Please do not contact us about removing your posts.

ShyGuy, thank you for clarifying that for those of us either too lazy or otherwise incapable of looking it up. (NO sarcasm intended! I fit in the first category ;) and given the efficacy of the search mechanism here, it's quite possible we'd *never* find that if we tried a search for it. {And I wouldn't have known where to look [STILL don't know!] to find the forum guidelines, either!})

You're quite welcome

And A hint, look at the bottom of each page of the forum, there's a nifty little link named Forum Rules ;)

LOL...not quite that difficult....bottom of each page under Lit rules. Why I say it belongs is maybe not so much a letter of the law, but on the vein a thread posted does not belong to the OP, it becomes something which is there for all on Lit (by Lit standards). I see it as similar in a way with posts...yes, edit if you feel a need to around that time, but I think it a shame when things are permanently removed at a much later date which make threads difficult to follow, or even in this case, removes valueable links and/or information which had no reflection on the posters life in any way. It just is sad and does damage the forum in that way. It is not the first person who has done it, and it will not be the last I expect, but is one of the reasons I become more and more cautious about taking people who come here at face value immediatlely as this is not a new person, in most circumstances, these things have always been done by someone who has been around a significant while, who has gained trust, become part of the community in a big way and then done an about flip. I cannot change it, nor will I try, but it does just remind me to be less trusting once again.

LOL - a *long* time ago, I belonged to a BBS that had a short edit period, so if you later noticed (or had brought to your attention) that you had inadvertently said "not x" when you meant "x," or "x" when you meant "not x," you had to put in a later post with the correction, e.g., "In my 16:32:47 post, I inadvertently said, 'Thus, we can see that the experiment will give a result of not x,' but I *meant* 'Thus, we can see that the experiment will give a result of x.' Please forgive the error."

At some point, certain smartasses came up with the idea of slightly modifying the correction post "format," e.g., "In my 16:32:47 post, I inadvertently misstated my position. Please delete the 293rd word of that post," or "In my 16:32:47 post, I inadvertently misstated my position. Please insert the word 'not' between the 292nd and 293rd words of that post."

Fortunately, that BBS is long since defunct, and hopefully any forums now operated by the same moderators/operators have liberalized their rules regarding edits.

I would imagine as a moderator that you probably see it differently than I do. I don't really see it as that big of a deal. She contributed what she did and she has every right to take it away if she wants to. I'm sad that her wisdom is lost, but I respect her decision. As, far as trust goes..well again I don't take it as seriously as a moderator would. I mean she didn't do anything personal to anyone on here. I love Lit and I spend as much time on here as anyone...but at the end of the day it's a forum. Real life should take first priority. The needs in her life should come first..not what's best for the forum..no matter how harsh that may sound.

I miss her already & I never even had the chance to get to know her as well as everyone else. <sniffles> :(

----

On a totally different note, I feel like screaming bloody murder! I can't get this stupid website to look the way it used to. I flipped through all the options at the bottom & got it stuck somehow on the big font thing. I can't see anyone's avatars & everything's so wonky looking I'm thinking about just skipping the board because it's too hard for me to see.

Actually this is another situation that has nothing to do with being a moderator, just another poster on a forum. It has a lot to do with disappointment in the actions of another which for someone like me says more than the surface action does. If it had been someone who posted here on and off for say a few months at most, just posted when they felt the urge, it would be a little different..point is it is someone who took a big and active part in the forum as a whole over a longer period of time, formed friendships with people, built trust, even gave us the opportunity to be supportive when it was needed....stupidly I always think when you do those things with others, online or in person, it has a sense of being real and you do not just disappear and take all you had with you without a word of thanks or goodbye. I have spoken to CM and wished her well and meant it, and she knows she is welcome back here anytime, but I am still disappointed, probably more so now than before. Bit of deja vu involved as well which some of you would not have been here long enough to have known about...it all adds up, but it is life and life will go on thankfully.

Catalina:catroar:

I have spoken with CM as well, and she's making the right decision for herself right now. She's abiding by the forum rules, and she's doing what's best for her. I am disappointed that her wisdom is gone, too, because I have had so many wonderful conversations with her and learned so much from her, and I think she made a wonderful contribution to the board...but she's doing what's right for her, and I have to respect that. It's not my decision or anybody else's whether her posts should stay, it's CM's and CM's choice alone.

Also, given the nature of the sort of relationships we hold to on this board, CM may have been ordered to do so.

This is speculation, by the way. I know I called it in the "Annual Round Up" thread, but that was more a matter of intuition than any sort of foreknowledge that she was going to delete her posts.

ETA: I am well and truly going to miss her. Just today I was talking in PM with someone new to the boards, and CM's was the first name I mentioned in a list of folks whose posts were Good Stuff.

*hugs the mouse*

So will I sleep tonight? LOL, doubt it though I am tired....off to get my new lens tomorrow morning and if lucky take some pics in the town where we are buying it as it has some beautiful typically Dutch shots to be had which I hadn't seen last time we went there. Let's hope the weather is great.:)

Yay! Got the new shelving unit up & already in use. I so love being able to do a lot of things myself. :) <sends many well-wishes to the mouse>
