The Isolated Blurt Thread XXXVII: You're Welcome, Fuckers

Damn, I was watching clips from Who's Line Is It Anyway were Richard was on. He was always such a positive soul. I don't think he was EVER negative. Hope he went peacefully.

Considering disassembling the whole bird feeder thingamabob. They're fun to watch and all, but the stuff that goes in it (and them) is getting a bit pricey.

you could grow the millet and sunflowers maybe?

the sunflowers i've grown this year were the wrong ones, with the heads being stupid small at only maybe 2" across without the petals. Next year i'm growing the giant ones.

and looking up about the spuds and carrots in the ground... the spuds can stay in the ground for up to 3 months so long as they're not getting too wet, but the summer season carrots have to come out as the hot periods will make them bitter.

guess i might be out there early tomorrow lifting and tasting some to see if they've all gotta come up at once

Night shift?

Night shift?
nope

i'll lift a couple and check for texture and flavour... supposed to get some decent rain between wednesday and next weekend, so they might do better after that. we'll see.

Hence, the reason our Alaskan carrots are so sweet and tasty.

i did notice the difference in flavour when i got here: all the carrots in the stores plus those we grow definitely have a less-sweet profile... not that we grow them late and maybe we should. I thought it must be the soils but the temperatures make much more sense, given the cooler climes of blighty.

I threw my back out? I think at least, by sleeping wrong. My arm also hurts. It feels like when I hurt before from an old job.
This is gonna affect our trip to ceder point. I'm basically paying to watch other people have fun.

I had something else but I lost my train of thought.

They make oxycodone for such occasions! If I wasn't an addict, I'd take 10 every day!

which arm? it's important

you may easily have thrown your back out, though, just turning in bed. i know i have before and it's a bitch.

the cucumber relish this year has been a disaster... got just enough cukes (after eating some earlier) to make a full batch of relish, and when the cukes are small like this i leave the seeds in and they're fine. this year? nuh huh And the heat has destroyed the plants so we're not getting any more.

must be to do with the heat but no matter how many hours i've cooked this damned relish down, even having to top up the liquids, they stayed inedible. I skimmed as many off as i could but it meant plenty remained. So i left it on low in a final attempt to soften them enough for about an hour. Now the fucker's all burnt. His mum is down in the kitchen den but her sense of smell has failed her and for some reason i didn't smell it up here where the sugar/vinegar liquid started sticking to the base. f.f.s. a waste of produce AND a waste of time.

oh well, it is what it is and at least the new fridge-freezer's being delivered tomorrow so i won't have to keep trekking downstairs to the basement freezer or through to the other fridge in the 'new' room.

Why doesn't she just admit that she grows and harvests human bodies? All this 'vegetable' talk is pointless.

By the way, that's not deer jerky she's serving! o_O
