D.C. Press Breaks 140-Year Tradition in Snub to Trump
after trump. puppet vance and general White House toadies declined invitation to attend, not wanting to be with "those people."

The Beltway media thumbed its nose at President Donald Trump on Sunday.

In a subtle dig, reporters at the annual Gridiron Club dinner—which brings together prominent members of the Washington, D.C. press corps each year—broke with a 140-year-old tradition by declining to toast the sitting president. Instead, journalists raised their glasses in support of press freedom.
“A toast to the First Amendment,” said Gridiron President Judy Woodruff, a former anchor and managing editor of PBS NewsHour, according to the Washington Post.

"The government's not being terribly cooperative at this point, but I will get to the bottom of whether they violated my word and who ordered this and what's the consequence," he said.

When Boasberg asked if the DOJ could vow that the Trump administration would hold individual hearings before they deport anyone under the AEA to confirm they are members of Tren de Aragua, Deputy Assistant Attorney General Drew Ensign declined to make that commitment.

"No, Your Honor, I don't have authorization to do that," he said.
this poor sap goes on to make it perfectly clear he understood the judge's order and its intent, relayed this but people higher up from him made the call not to obey it. Good for him, though he'll likely be demoted or lose his job because of telling the truth.
"Can I ask you now how you interpreted that statement when we had a conversation on Saturday?" Judge Boasberg asked. "Did you not understand my statement during that hearing?"

"I understood your statements and relayed your directive to the clients, which I have done,"
Ensign said.

"What did you understand? Did you think that that was hypothetical, not serious, that it was going to be modified? Or did you understand that when I said do that immediately?" Judge Boasberg asked.

"I understood your intent -- that you meant that to be effective at that time," Ensign said, appearing to undermine the DOJ's arguments.

'Cancellations and missed deadlines': Kennedy Center in 'free fall' since Trump takeover

According to a column at MSNBC by culture critic Rebecca Ritzel, the president has been proposing a slate of plays, including "Cats," Camelot,” “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Hello, Dolly!” seemingly unaware that there are no touring companies presenting those plays from bygone days.
More importantly, Ritzel noted, is that the center normally announces its schedule by the second week of March and nothing has been forthcoming with the end of the month looming.

As she wrote, "Life at the center has been a tumultuous free fall ever since, with a series of cancellations and missed deadlines," adding, "Across Washington, venues like The Anthem and Shakespeare Theatre Company are fielding calls from artists and organizations looking for somewhere else to perform. Most notably, the producers and creators of the musical theater juggernaut “Hamilton” announced they were canceling a two-month run, which most likely have generated more money than any other show in the 2025-26 Kennedy Center season."

‘This is not your grandmother’s Easter Egg Roll’: White House seeks corporate sponsorships for Easter event

Hahaha!

The White House Easter Egg Roll brought to you by the South Korean Egg Producers Association! Because you may want to tariff the shit out of imports, but you need more fucking eggs so people will stop bitching about them.

It’s a catchy slogan.

I keep wondering where the line is. The line where people say, "OK, you had my support but this is going too far!"

I buy lots of fresh fruit from TurkiYe ( Kanye rename).

But eggs? Sounds like salmonella distance to me.

For those of you with concerns about the economy, here is one to read. Trying to turn off the flow of federal dollars through payments or payrolls will have unintended consequences. From individuals to small businesses, the net effect of the 'concept of a plan' approach is going to hurt us all down the road.

Consumerism drives our economy. Reduce the availability of take home pay for the average American, less spending on the horizon.
