How do we know the jewel is feminine? Are you sure the jewel is not something passed between people for a while, to some more than others at different times? and when the person is passed the jewel, do they become the jewel for a bit? and must they pass it on to another?

Maybe it comes in the night, through voices, to be shared for a time before moving on?
