IC: I am Ella, a powerful sorceress. This is my story of how I came to have a Knight as my personal servant and our life together.
There was a war raging between a demon race called the “Sanguinans”. Translated from Latin to English it means “blood thirsty”. And these demons were indeed blood thirsty. They were the result of a cross breed between Vampire and Werewolf. They were powerful, fast, vicious and strategic beings. But, they never changed from their outwardly Were appearance. Yet, they also had the fangs like the Vampires. Once caught by these merciless hunters, the victim was drained of all blood and then the body was eaten. Even the bones were gnawed at. It was not uncommon for an entire body to be consumed; only leaving hair behind.
They also bred at alarming rates. Gestation was only 3 months. And these demons were full grown within 10 years. They were unstoppable. The Vampire race and the Were race were nearly wiped out by these demons. The Human race was in grave danger. If the Vampires and Weres could not defeat them, there was no hope for the Humans. They however fought valiantly. But, there numbers were dwindled down quickly.
At that time I was the most powerful sorceress around. Other than the few apprentices I had, I did not socialize very much. I preferred training my apprentices and reading my books of magic. Occasionally someone would be foolish enough to request my services but not follow through with payment. I never allowed such disrespect. The offenders were often used as test dummies for my apprentices until they were dead. And some I made horrible displays for before the people to demonstrate that I am not one to trifle with. I wanted them to all know that if you make a deal with me, you’d better not break that deal. Punishment would most likely be death.
One day a messenger came to my castle with a message from the King. The Messenger seemed terrified and could not wait to leave. I took the letter and dismissed him. He ran away as if running for his life as I read the message. It said, “I am a desperate King willing to take desperate measures. The Sanguinans are too fierce of a horde. We will all surely die if they are not stopped. I, King William, request your services to destroy this horde. Your powerful magic is unmatched. If you succeed in this mission, you need only speak your desired reward. Please, come to me as fast as you can travel. Your apprentices are welcomed too.” The message was signed, “Sincerely, King William.”
I grinned and then cackled as I said, “Even the King comes to me!” I called my 3 apprentices and told them of our mission. We all gathered a bag each with clothing and magical supplies. I then teleported the four of us to the gates of the Kings castle. The two stunned guards knew right away who we were and immediately opened the gates and kept their heads down as if afraid to make eye contact. We walked up the stone path and up the stairs to the main doors of the castle. I waved my hand and the doors swung open. We then entered the castle and made our way to the throne room.
There sitting upon the throne was King William. He looked old, tired and defeated as he slumped in his chair. He stood to greet me and I bowed before him. I was not above showing respect for the King, nor were my apprentices.
The King said, “Thank the Gods you have decided to help in this war. I do not care how you do it. I just want no more of people killed and I want those Demons utterly destroyed. Please, name your reward upon completion of your task.” Oddly enough I had not even thought of a reward. I was willing to help the King. I looked around for inspiration. A personal servant of the Kings came to him with a goblet of fresh wine. It was then that I realized what my reward should be, a personal servant.
I said, “Your Majesty, I desire a personal servant.” The King smiled, “That is all you wish for? Very well.” He clapped and 5 servants rant o him and bowed at his feet. He said, “These are my personal servants, 3 women and 2 men. You may have one of any of them.” I nodded my head no and smiled. I then nodded my head over to the 8 Knights standing nearby, four to the right of his throne and four to the left of his throne. I said, “No, I require one of your fine Knights to become my personal servant.” He seemed annoyed as he angrily waved away the servants. He said, “No! They are not servants! They are my Knights!” I exhaled, “Your Majesty, you said I could name my reward. But, I see you are unwilling to stick to your word.” I then turned to leave.
He shouted, “No! Don’t go! Very well, you may choose one.” I said, “Very good. The Knight I chose will remain my servant until I release him or he dies. Let us begin the selection process.” I then waved my hand and all of their helmets fell to the ground.
I said to the King, “Please send away any that may be married or widowed with children they tend to.” He sent a 3 of the knights away. I then asked the King to send away the Knights that were old. Two more were sent away. I was now down to 3 Knights. One Knight had a very scared and unattractive face. I sent him away. There were two left. One looked to me with what appeared to be anger. The other seemed a bit shy and as if afraid to look me in the eyes. He seemed quite youthful and handsome as well. So, I chose him.
I looked to the King, “You Majesty, King William, I choose this Knight.” He nodded in agreement. I then said, “My apprentices and I will go now. I will return when we have defeated the horde. If I do not return within 7 night falls, assume I am dead and release this fine young man from the deal with which you and I have made.”
Within 4 days the horde was defeated. It was a fierce and to be honest, frightening battle. I lost all but one of my apprentices to the horde. But, we succeeded in our mission. But, the remaining apprentice and I were severely wounded. It took almost all of my remaining strength to teleport us back to the King. Once before him my apprentice fell to her knees and then forward. She was very close to death. I too dropped to my knees but I looked up to the King, “Your deed has been done. The horde is no more. Please, have your healers tend to my apprentice. Provide me with a bed and I can heal myself. Send my reward to me in the morrow.” He did as I asked.
Once in my room I had one of the castle servants assist me in making a special healing potion. After it was made and I drank it, I lay in the downy bed and meditated my wounds away throughout the night. I fell asleep at some point in the night but awoke feeling much better as the sun began to beam through the windows. I squinted my eyes in the sunlight and looked around the room for my “reward”….
