The Last Daughter of Krypton - IC

Lex stopped Bruce before he walked out. "I know you meant well Bruce... I think you may yet be onto something. Could you meet me later tonight at my mansion, so that we can discuss... What happened here?" Lex asked, lowering his voice so only Bruce could hear him. "I'll take care of Misty..." He said normally as he let Bruce go.

Misty continued to cry on the floor. "Daddy Daddy please talk to me let me know your okay. Daddy what happened to you Daddy."

Misty was about to lose it and have a nervous break down it was just to much for her to handle in one day. The loss of her father and to figure out she had super powers. She just couldn't bare it anymore she finally just laid on the floor and sobbed like a baby.

Bruce walked out to see Alfred and the girl that he ran into in the hallway. It looked as if Alfred was helping the young girl out. Bruce's head hung low.

Alfred, I'm going to walk back to school. I need sometime to think. Bruce said. He explained quietly what had happened, before heading out the door.

On the way back to school, Bruce noticed someone asking for help in an alley way ahead. Bruce ran up to see two guys mugging another student.

Hey, why don't you leave the man alone and go home Bruce said. It was corny, but he couldn't think of anything else. The two guys stopped and stared at him.

Hey Conner, it looks like this guy wants to take his place. The bigger one said.

So, you want to be this years scarecrow? The other one asked. They laughed and walked off. Without fully understanding what they meant, Bruce helped the guy up, who ran off.

Back at school, the class was still going. Bruce walked into the history class, to see Mr. Smith, still teaching, and Kara, sitting by herself, with Kyle in the back. He went over and sat next to Kara. No one said a word as he walked in.

The silence was deafening.

Kyle

The history lesson was a good one for a change. The Jhonny Cash lokkalike sub definately knew his stuff. After the secretary interrupted he swung back into teaching pretty quick. Only problem was that with the lights off and me being drawn in, I must have been subcounciously leaking out my powers. Every now and then I would catch the other students straining to see because the shadows were getting thicker around me. The calming mantra I had learned helped, until the damn spitball hit me square in the glasses!
I looked over at another football ape as he laughed at me. "Scarecrow" is what he mouthed at me. Must be some kinda jock code I didn't know. I don't think the sub caught the change, but then again who is gonna discipline a jock in a football town. Forget the fact that I could beat any of these guys. Heck, in my non-armored form I can lift a car up off it's wheels. I put my glasses back on & got back to watching the slideshow. Here I am, one of the tenth richest people in the USA (well, once I reach 21 and get my inheritance, and if Bekka lets me) and with powers too, and I sit here in high school being picked on by neanderthals.
At least some of the girls this year are cute. The blonde in red is really pretty. Maybe I should get to know her.....

"Misty, I know it hurts, but I assure you, I will find your father, and bring him back to you. I promise." Lex said, reaching out to console Misty. "Now, why dont you let me take you and your mother home? This place isn't going to do either of you any good right now, okay?" Lex offered her a hand to help her sit up.

Misty looked up at the young handsome man before her and smiled with tears in her eyes and running down her cheeks. She was unable to speak she didn't have the energy and her throat was starting to hurt as she nodded her head and took Lex's hand. She wrapped her arms around him once she was to her feet and laid her head on his shoulder trying to fight back the tears.

Bruce sat next to Kara during class, talking only a couple of times. The lesson went well. Even though Bruce was mostly sidetracked with the events that had happened earlier that morning.

After class, Bruce walked out, kinda rudely to Kara, who seemed interested in talking to him. Bruce walked to his next class, Phisycal education. The hallway was filled with red and yellow jackets, signs reading "Go Crows", and the lining of red and yellow lockers.

Bruce didn't really care for the colors. A little bit of yellow every now and then was one thing, but this was too much.

Bruce saw the two kids that he had seen in the street earlier. One of them noticed him too. He tapped his friend on the shoulder, who looked up and saw Bruce as well. Hey man, it looks like our Scarecrow came back to school. The smaller one said.

Ok dude, we'll get him later. I have P.E. next, I don't want to be late The bigger one said. Great, Bruce thought, P.E. with one of these apes. It seemed that it was not going to any easier today.

Hell always did have a funny way of stalking those in the dark.

John Smith left immediately after the history lecture. In all, he felt it went pretty well. He was sorry to hear about Misty's father, yet there was absolutely nothing he could do.

He left the school and stopped by a local coffee shop where he figured he would spend the rest of his afternoon.

When Lex and Misty returned to the waiting room Lex addressed her mother. "Mrs. Graves, do you think it would be okay if I drove Misty home? I am concerned about her, being here, the waiting, I don't think it will do either of you any good..."

He noticed Bruce's man, Alfred still there, and excused himself for a moment to go talk with the man. "Alfred isn't it?" Lex asked, putting a hand out the shake the mans hand. "I was wondering if you might ask Bruce to come by my mansion later tonight? I asked him to stop by, but I think he kind of took me wrong..." Lex asked as he gave the girl, Erin a friendly smile.

He left Alfred to the girl and went back to Misty and her mother. "So, what do you say, Mrs. Graves, would it be alright if I drove Misty home?"

(eh why not, off to gym it is :cathappy: )

Kara left class and glanced at her schedule sheet. She felt a few students brush her from behind as they made their way out into the hallway and to their next class. According to her class list she had physical education next, located in the gym. She scratched her head for a moment, and had to ask a student to point her in the direction of the gymnasium. Upon arriving she saw a bunch of girls gossiping and chatting pretty loudly, each of them filing into the locker room. Kara felt a little color rise to her cheeks as she realized that she had no clothes to change into.

"Just bring some spare clothes next time we have class. You can wear what you have on now." her coach said, taking a look at Kara.

"Loose the coat, though." she added, and Kara nodded her head. She removed her jacket and put it aside, sitting down on one of the bleachers as the other students began to assemble. She saw a cart off to the side, the contents of which ranged from basketballs to volleyballs. Another bin was stationed next to that one, and inside she saw quite a few large, red balls. Cones seemed to divide up the inner gym, and she wondered what sort of exercised they'd be doing.

"I know what you're all thinking. First day of gym, all running laps, right? Well today I figured we'd all warm up with a game of dodgeball." the coach said with a smile, much to the delight of most of the students present.

Misty was to far gone right now to care what happened she was stressed and people were starting to think she was crazy.

Mrs. Graves looked at Lex and smiled as best she could under the circumstances. "Why sure Lex, Misty could use a handsome young man like you to take her home and maybe help her feel a little better. Things have to be tough on her today was her first day of High School." With that Mrs. Graves sat back down and looked straight at Misty. "Be a good girl and thank Lex for everything he has done okay Misty."

"Thank you Mrs. Graves, I'll take good care of her." Lex said as he gave her a consoling pat on the shoulder. Taking out the keys to his ferrarri, Lex nodded for the exit. "Wanna spin by school and make everyone jealous?" Lex joked with a charming grin.

Misty smiled up at Lex as she hoped in the side door of the car. "Can we really. I do need to stop in and let the school know whats going on with my dad." Misty gets a glassy look in her eyes as she stares at Lex momentarily like she is concentrating on him.

"Sure, just don't make them too jealous, okay?" Lex said as he slid in the drivers seat and turned the ignition key, reving the powerful engine. At first Lex didn't notice the way Misty was concentrating on him while he was thinking. "The project has been dismantled by now... I'll take Misty to The Talon and see if..." Lex looked over and noticed the way misty was looking at him, and almost instantly, his mind was a stream of stocks and bonds, and other useless information to a girl like Misty. "Hey, are you okay? Would you like to stop by the Talon after this, for a cappucino or something? My treat."

Misty was wondering what possible project he could be talking about when his mind went to stocks and bonds. There is definitely strange about Lex its like he believes i can read minds or something. "Sure the talon sounds nice better then me sitting around moaping in the Hospital. So what did i do to land such a nice friend like you Lex."

"Oh, think nothing of it Misty, its the least I can do for you, considering the circumstance. It looks like we're here. You go on in and do what you need to, I'll stay out here, looking dashing and mysterious for all your friends, okay?" Lex said as he pulled up to Smallville High and put the car in park.

Misty looks at Lex and pouts a little. "You don't want to come in with me? I'm hurt Lex. Well i'm gonna go in and tell the principal and then talk to each of my teachers individually so it may take me a few minutes if you insist on staying out here." Misty looked at Lex concentrating again and she started thinking how nice it would be of lex to come in with her.

"Of course I'll accompany you, I could probably even get you out of any home work too..." Lex said with a wink as he turned the car off and got out. The car locked behind Misty as she got out and chirped to signal that the cars alarm was engaged.

Misty looked back at Lex and decided that whatever the rumors were he wasn't a bad guy. A bit strange maybe and even though she had seen some of his thoughts he was still a mystery to her. She winked at him and smiled. "Thanks your quiet the gentleman Lex. There is hope for this species yet." Misty just smiled at her joke.

She walked into the school with Lex and walked to the princpal's office and explained the whole story on what was going on with her Dad and how she would probably be missing a few days of school. Then she went to each one of her classes and explained the situation to each of them. Lex was very kind and sweet this entire time. When she walked into her gym class she saw Kara and waved to her for a second She told the teacher everything that was going on and then looked over at Kara with a sad look on her face and waved goodbye. everything that was going on with her Dad was getting to her again.

Misty looked over at Lex "Can we go now? I'd like that cappachino now and whatever else you got in mind for me."

Lex followed Misty as she went from class to class, hanging back a little, when she spoke to each teacher, noticing the looks and whispers from Misty's peers. He stood in the doorway to the gym while Misty talked to her coach, his hands in the pockets of his dark grey trench coat

"Sure can. The blond girl a friend of yours?" Lex asked conversationally as the two of them walked out to his car. He started the car up, reving it as he noticed a few students peering out of windows at them.

"New girl just met her today. She is a sweetheart doesn't talk much though. Everyone was so jealous of me that makes me feel a little better though i'd trade it all just to have my daddy back lex." Misty's tears start to come back and she begins to cry again.

"Misty, don't worry, your father is only missing, thats all, we'll find him, okay?" Lex said as he gave her a concerned look. "lets get you that cappucino..." Lex said, as he pulled into the Talon's parking lot. He escorted Misty into the coffee shop and asked the waitress that attended them to give them the best seat in the house, slipping her a solid fifty.

Misty perked up as Lex made it clear that he believed her father was only missing. She watched as Lex slipped the waitress a 50 and it made her fill special that Lex would spend that kind of money on her. She giggled as Lex got her seat for her and sat down with her. "So ummm Lex what does Daddy do for you. He would never tell me."

"He oversees special projects for Luthorcorp, technical stuff, probably figured he'd bore you to tears with it..." Lex said dismissively as the waitress brought them menus. He scanned the menu, thinking. "Bruce seemed convinced that she can hear people's thoughts... I'm still not so sure... Maybe I should test her. This should get her attention... I wonder what color panties the waitress is wearing..." Lex sat his menu aside as he looked up at Misty, then glancing over at the waitress who was leaning against the bar, taking down an order from a man who reminded Lex of Johnny Cash.

crap lex and bruce both know i can read minds now and he is just trying to get me to bite on it so he can prove it. If he wants to know what color those things are so bad why don't he just ask her. Misty looked at Lex while blushing at his thoughts she couldn't help it. Why doesn't he wonder what I'm wearing underneath am i not attractive enough. What am i thinking i'm only 15 there is no way Lex could be interested in me. "So Lex I noticed you looking at the girl over by the bar whats going on in that mind of yours am I not pretty enough for you?"
