The Legend of Dragoon (Casting Call)

I will post my bio, then.

Name: Cairalyn
Alias: Amber (on account of her light hazel eyes)
Age: 24
Height: 5'4"
Weight: 128 lb
Species: Human
Hair: Deep chestnut, falls in a curly cascade down her mid- back
Eyes: Amber hazel and slightly elongated framed by dark lashes
Skin:A tanned complexion where her skin is visible (face, hands), but under her clothes, she is a fairer olive tone.
Appearance: She is slim, though gently curved in bust and hips. Her legs are lightly muscled from a great deal of hiking in the forest collecting plants. Her hands are calloused and slim, with delicately boned fingers.

As a traveling healer she wears brown leather boots, green tights under a short dark brown leather skirt, a moss green, v-necked camisole with eyelets at the shoulder to tie on sleeves, under a dark brown laced leather bodice. Around her forehead is a braided leather circlet, tied decorated with a violet feather and a bone charm fashioned into a dragonfly at her left temple. She bears an oilskin cloak also in dark brown and green to blend in with the forest.
Around her neck is a dark purple amulet on a leather thong, which lies in the valley of her cleavage.

Occupation: Healer and herbalist
Weapon skills: shortstaff, some hand to hand combat, but very rudimentary
Weapons carried: three daggers (thigh, boot, hip) and a short staff strapped diagonally across her back tucked into her sleeping roll.

Miscellaneous skills: Cooking, mending, some experience in skinning, but not very good at it, reading, writing.

Brown leather satchel hanging from her shoulder includes: small mortar and pestle of pink quartz wrapped in cloth, several pouches of dried herbs, bandages, poultice packs, three vials of different colored thick liquids (oils for salves), and a healers' toolkit (pincers, small bone knife, needle, gut thread, spatula, small palette with dipped sections to mix salves) There is also a traveling dining kit (wooden bowl, mug, spoon), flint and kindle, and a few leather patches.

Personality: Soft-spoken, observant, and introspective, Caira isn't the bold, gregarious type. She leaves that to the warriors and bards. Instead, she maintains a quiet demeanor and an optimistic view for the sake of those she tries to help. She's encouraging, and just a bit naive when it comes to relations with people who aren't in need of her services (especially men). She is quick to smile, and clever, but also stubborn in regards to her teachings and her principles. It is not often that a person gets to change her mind. She is dismayed by violence, but not unrealistic, knowing it is a violent world she lives in, and were it not for violence she would not have a life-calling to heal the wounded.

Bio: Cairalyn was born the second child to a hunter and his wife one autumn afternoon. Growing up with her older brother Cian, Caira used to go out with him and her father to learn about the forest and nature. Often she would bring home injured animals to fix, and it was soon realized she had the compassionate heart of a healer, and the hands to help the wounded. When she was old enough, her parents apprenticed her to a healer in the nearby village. This woman taught her everything she knew about the forest, herbs, and the ways of the world. To protect herself, Caira begged her father to teach her the way of the shortstaff. At first he refused her, saying that she should not be worrying about such things, but she insisted, citing the reason she would not always have protection in the forest, and she might need to protect the healer and herself. Eventually he acceded to her request, and along with her lessons in herbalism and healing, she practiced with her shortstaff.

As the healer was one of the few herbalists in the rural forest area, she and Caira were called on to travel to different villages to help those who were sick, needed herbal remedies, or when there was too much to do for just one healer. It was on one of these trips that Caira stumbled upon a dark violet stone in the woods when looking for some herbs. When she touched it, she felt as if the world stopped a moment. It was warm in her hand, and she felt as if it belonged with her. That night she thought she heard it whispering to her, but she couldn't figure out if it was real or just her imagination out in the forest among the whispering leaves.

As time wore on she saw less and less of her family as she and the healer travelled more and more frequently to the further edges of the province in which their home forest lay. It was in one of these outer edges that she heard of a group of rogue knights who had gone through her corner of the province imprisoning and killing, pillaging and plundering, and her own family had been killed. Heartbroken for the loss of her family, she and the healer decided to continue traveling selling their skills, living off the land as best they could, but the healer herself was getting weaker with age and a fatiguing sickness that wore on her bones. The spring after she lost her family, Caira lost her mentor as well, and was left to fend for herself.

Very nice, Caramel. You set the bar high with that bio. Now we'll be expecting nothing less that an equivalent effort from your IC posts. :D

Hee hee, that bio took me somewhere in the vicinity of 4-6 hours

If I'm not mistaken it seems like our master jedi and the thread creator got caught by rl again. Will have to wait a bit I think
