Some very interesting history, for sure. When I went to view the place the first time, one of the things I noticed was the sound of someone shooting not far away. Well, I took it as a good sign, because I wanted to find a place where I could shoot on my own land. So that sound just confirmed that I could do that.

Come to find out, the guy who lives two houses down had heard that someone was viewing the property, and he and his kids went out to shoot on purpose, to (as he told me) 'make sure the kind of person who would want to live there would be the right kind of person who didn't mind shooting.'

Downside to living in the city. If I ever started shooting someone would call the cops, and rightly so. Thankfully I live half a mile from a range. Pistols only but it's something.

*Comes in to flop down on the couch, thinking about the information I found out about the property I'm buying. It puts a smile on my face.*

Another thing I found out is that the land was directly in the path of Sherman's march when he came to Atlanta in 1864. So there is a good chance that there could be Civil War relics to be found there. It also used to be Cherokee land, before the Trail of Tears. So there could be arrowheads or pottery shards, etc.

Also, when I walked through the woods the first time I saw the property, I found a couple large metal rings half buried in the ground. They were like a large cattle trough that you might see at Tractor Supply Company, but they were set into the ground near the spring fed creek. Well, come to find out, those were the sites of a couple moonshine stills back in the days when moonshine was popular in the area. The road that it is located off of is called Sweetwater Trail, which apparently doesn't refer to sweet 'water' exactly.

Downside to living in the city. If I ever started shooting someone would call the cops, and rightly so. Thankfully I live half a mile from a range. Pistols only but it's something.

Yes, I currently belong to an outdoors club where I can go shooting. They have rifle and pistol ranges, and even shotgun, and archery ranges, plus skeet and trap shooting stations. But it's about $250.00 a year, plus $25.00 for a range pass. I could use that money for other things, and besides, I have to drive about 8-9 miles to get there. In this new place, I can just step outside.

Im gong to spell this wrong but. Try ironoxide,amumenium powder,(equal porions by volume) and magnezium shaveings. Light it with bbq lighter and move back!A coffie can size will go through a car. any ware through the car.

You know, that's the best side effect of going shooting. I come back so calm and yet quite focused. I theorize that the same exercises you have to do to make a good shot are similar to the things you do to meditate. Breathing control, focus, being able to tune out distractions, and careful muscular control, etc.

And Im sorunded by farmers that dont like deer,badgers,bevers,rabbits etc. in their fields. So hunting as food is year round income. And I get to tan the leather and make stuff.

Well, I've never killed anything, just targets. But if it came down to it, I'd learn how so I could have food to eat. One thing I want to do when I finally get moved is to take up archery too.

I've wanted to learn to use a bow for a while. Seems a bit fairer when you hunt. I'd use a gun to eat if my next meal was depending on it but I'd rather use a bow otherwise. Sort of like fishing with a rod and reel vs. net or long line.

I feel the same way. Not interested in trophies. If I want that, I just save my target with the center bullseye chewed out from my shots. I can put that up on my fridge, and throw it away when I'm tired of looking at it and want to make another one.

I plan to get some chickens too, for eggs and occasional meat, and raise a garden. The property has a well and a spring fed creek, so I figure water won't be a problem.

Yeah, maybe a little more drop over longer ranges. But I saw one that intrigued me. Instead of the bow part forming a curved T across the front, it was inverted so that it curved up along each side towards the front, like a U when seen from above. I'm attracted to the unique and different I guess.

So compund or recurve bows? recurve is what you see in robin hood. compound is what you see in season one walking dead.(yes im waaaay behind the rest of you) as for cross bows Ann its a lot like fireing a rifle, but the kick is difrent. and the bolt is slower.

Well, I'd probably just get a compound bow. The kind with all the pulleys and cams. They are smaller, space-wise, but I understand they are powerful. And they're adjustable to arm length and draw weight I think.

*Chuckles* Well that would be the first time any man called me 'mistress,' that's for sure. Some females in the past, sure, but not men, at least not yet. I never figured myself for the type really.
