A new Lounge!

Oh....another place that I'll visit rarely...*sighs*

But hello to everyone. :rose:

*walks in, folds up his umbrella and tucks it in the umbrella stand*

Evening, everyone. Hope the day finds you all well.

Hi Tess and thank you.

I've seen some of your writing....I like it

*nods*

blushes.

I like yours as well, thank you!

Very well, how is yours? Any more delightful recordings in the works?

I can't complain, really. Weather's supposed to take a nasty turn tonight, but I don't have to be anywhere particularly early in the morning.

Funny you should mention recordings...I picked out a passage from a book for my next recording and actually recorded it this afternoon. I think I'll probably post it tomorrow morning before I go to work.

It's turned nasty here already. Blizzarding!

And I eagerly await the recording. Yay!

No need to blush

And thank you...though I suspect you must have searched through the history archives for my writing!!!

Maybe! No, actually, I found some profiles that linked to threads they did with you, and also the Thread Appreciation list. So I'm not too much of a stalker.

Don't let the Fish fool you. He's worth the wait.

I'm not going to complain if you're reading my writing and enjoy it. ;)

Collapses on the couch in a sports bra and spandex and wraps a blanket around herself, looking quite pathetically exhausted.

I don't ever want to move again.
And hello, all.

A rough day for the young rugger?
Nods slowly, sipping from her water bottle.

I fucked up my knee two days ago, and apparently it's worse than I thought it was, and I can't run without hurting myself. My coach managed to find other ways to exhaust me, instead.

*waggles his eyebrows* Well, there are all sorts of methods of exhaustion...

Seriously, knee injuries are nothing to mess around with. If you can't run without pain, it might be time to have a pro take a look at it. Have you been icing it in the evenings?

*chuckles at himself with a wry smile* Can you tell that I played a lot of sports and hurt myself a number of times?

Throws a pillow lazily at him.

I'm going to see our trainer tomorrow. I didn't realize it was anything more than a dislocation. Developing while playing softball fucked up my knees, and they used to dislocate a lot. I'm used to it. So when two of our largest players landed on my lower leg while my femur was going in a different and it hurt like a bitch, I just assumed that's what happened. I think I was wrong. So I haven't really been doing anything for it...

winces at the thought of two people landing on the lower leg while the thigh is going the other way, and looks almost ill at the thought of multiple dislocations

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a terribly pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Try to avoid the big people landing on you. It never ends well. And always remember that ice is your friend. If nothing else, it numbs the pain a bit which makes everything else easier.

grins evilly

And, of course, all of that ice lying around has other uses, too.

It doesn't hurt when I'm not running, at all. I can even scrum. (I don't know if you know what that means, but it requires a lot of knee bending for me.) I guess I just bend it a certain way or something when I run? I'm not sure.

Sticks her tongue out at him.

Large people land on you in rugby. It's part of the game. It's really not that bad, most of the time.

I do, in fact, know what a scrum is. And a ruck, and even a maul. One of my best friends for the last (almost) twenty years was a college rugby player, and he has undertaken to educate me in this area as some sort of bizarre public service. The few months that I lived in England were not nearly enough to impart a sufficient knowledge base!

Still, do try to avoid being landed on by the really big ones. Overall, I have three friends who played college rugby, and two of them are well north of 300 pounds. I'm around 200 and pretty fit, but I wouldn't like to be landed on by any of them, particularly the two big guys...I'm not sure that there'd be enough of me left to leave a greasy stain on the grass.

I'm a forward, so, sadly for me, most of the people I get landed on will be bigger. However, my team isn't a very big team. We have maybe two people that might be over 200 pounds. We're small people. It just so happened that the two that landed on me were the biggest girl on the team, and the third biggest girl on the team.

That's okay, today one of them (one of my best friends, really, here at school) tried to push me in front of a car so she wouldn't get hit by a bike. Clearly she has my best interest in mind.

Umm...just so that there's no confusion, "having someone else's best interest in mind" usually means doing things that don't involve shoving that person in front of a car.

Just so that we're clear on that.

Oh. Well. That's awkward... :p

Yeah. Um. Sorry about that, but at some point, pushing your friends in front of cars is sort of counter-productive to the whole "I have her best interests in mind" kind of meme.

Never mind causing knee injuries by landing on said friend. We'll assume that's "just an accident."

I keep telling her she broke me but she won't feel bad :(

With any luck, she didn't break you too badly...

Probably a couple of days riding the stationary bike rather than running and you'll be good as new.

Ahh, to be eighteen again and not mumblemumblemumble. If only for the ability to heal so damned quickly.
