Actualy I have been reading it a little at a time. Witch is why I hopped over to the OOC.
I dont like the story so far. Dont get me wrong I love the riteing. Just I was rased in one of those towns for about 7 years. and my neck is about as red as they get depending on the subject.

I think you misunderstand, then.

The point is not to show that those people are backwards or dumb or rednecks or whatever. I lived a long time in a tiny little town, and I live in the South now. There are plenty of reasons to mock some of the people down here, but that's not the point in this case.

Instead, it's Levi that's the one that looks at them that way... but he also looks at people as things to be controlled and taken advantage of. He is using the religion in the South as his tool to do that, but he's also going to discover it's not always as easy as all that.

This may sound ridiculously pretentious, and I'll totally own that if it does, but I think for me it's more a look at the way religion can be used to control, and at the way a psychopath can be a charming metrokoites and use that charm to take advantage of people. The south is the chosen setting, but it could've just as easily been done in a different way in Los Angeles or London or something like that.

I'm happy to say that sadist inciting is one of my talents. I gots all kinds of tricks, apparently. The big eyes, the begging, and sometimes the being a bratface to curly redheads.

I'd say, as far as that goes, that there are two replies really...

The first is that there is a sadist/maso element to it, which is probably to be expected given the writers. And, it's certainly not a judgment if you don't like that sort of thing. Not everyone does, and I'm certainly not going to tell someone they do or do not have to like something. You like what you like. As long as it's consensual and safe, then go for it.

The second is that it's a good illustration of the manner of control in that marriage, and so in that sense it goes well beyond the sadist/maso dynamic and into abuse. There is a pretty clear difference between, say, a scene I did with Vivi in the School and this writing with Tess, because things like "safe" and "consensual" aren't really in there. He doesn't care if she wants it, and he clearly didn't care that it had repercussions on her. Exploring those darker ideas, for some people, is really interesting. Not all of it (or necessarily any of it) is designed to arouse or "get us off" or whatever. It's all in service of the story (this is not to say that you said that, just a point of clarification).

There's some dark, messed up shit in this story. There will be very little sunshine and rainbows. But.. it's compelling and, I think, interesting. But if it's something you don't like and wouldn't read because of that, I certainly take no offense to that. It's not for everyone.
