Smiles softly and blows a kiss back to the beauty

It's okay. Just means I'm not getting out of here any time soon. One of the surgeons today was a complete idiot.

That sucks.

shakes her head

Hopefully the rest of the day will calm down a little for you and pass smoothly.

I hope so lol. He scheduled two surgeries that require a certain piece of equipment at the same time....there is, literally, only one of that piece. It was specially designed and custom made. So...like, it can't be in two rooms at once. Both surgeries are very long. It's like

Really, dude....really....You knew this. Why? Lol

It's the same here in the UK.

My mother's a nurse and the stories I hear from her make me afraid to go to some hospitals...it's awful really.

Seriously? Bloody hell. Yeah, stuff like that only makes me even happier that you're usually unconscious when around surgeony types!

Even at good hospitals....the stupid happens. And you're stuck going "Thanks, asshole. I get to be here until at least midnight now..."

Yup! When you work in a hospital, you learn real quick who you want as your surgeon and your anesthesiologist....even your nurses. I'm like - "I want you and you....you're not touching me with a ten foot pole....I wouldn't even let you touch my dog...."

Yeah. If patients knew half of what they went through after the propfol is pushed...they'd freak out lol

Oh yeah. I started out with nursing and stopped. I really couldn't believe the allowed idiocy in the medical field.

Makes me very glad for Nurses. They keep the doctors in line and make sure you don't die. I cant be one but I can damned sure be grateful for every single one of them.

Of all the people who work in hospitals, the only ones who are bad at cleaning their hands after contact with a patient are the Doctors...no wonder noro-virus is closing down wards.

*propofol
I have a very very unhealthy love of that drug.

But! It makes me look forward to surgeries instead of freaking out, so that's a bonus.

It makes me feel like theres sparklers on every inch of my skin and when it stops the surgery is done. i'm not groggy or cranky or in that fucked up fog. Just: awake - asleep - awake. It's magic.

This is exactly why I dont shake doctors hands when I have to be in there!

The good anesthesiologists keep doctors in line, too. OR nurses are a little differen from floor nurses. Most of the time, they're stuck having to follow what the surgeon wants. Most of the OR nurses here are really good, but there are definitely some lazy ones. But I have a lot of respect for them. The way surgery runs is different than the way the floor runs. The only person who has authority over the surgeon in the OR is the anesthesiologist.

Yup. Propfol will burn when it goes into the IV, but you only feel it for a second. It knocks you out within 20 seconds. And then you remember nothing until you wake up

Your lucky to have a nurse over here...most night staff are brought in from outside agencies, costing hundreds of pounds each, and their not even qualified...my mother was working the same shift as a man who was a security guard during the day...he had no idea of how to lift elderly patients, change colostomy bags, procedure for when someone passed away.

 I feel a rage filled rant building

In defense of all of the people I work with, it only takes a few bad apples. This surgeon usually isn't a total idiot. He's not bad. I'd pick someone else to do my spine and someone else to do my aneurysms, but that isn't because he's bad. The othe two are just better. And most of the nurses and techs work really, really hard. Good things happen here. But, because its health care, when someone is even the least bit lazy...or is having a bad day...it shows. And it affects patient care.

No.. it doesnt burn for me... That whole 20 or more seconds the entirety of my skin snaps and pops like there's a sparkler close to my skin. It's wicked. First time it happened I was talking to the anesthesiologist about it... WHILE going under. I asked him to slow down cause i wanted to feel like that forever. I remember him looking at me funny and then I asked him when i was supposed to go under. He told me I was already done and I informed him that I'd like to kiss him all over cause that was fuckin awesome.

Hey Tess x

Hi, doll! Sorry about the thread idea, my muse has needed a serious kick in the ass lately. Working on it. Apparently I'm turning into quite the slow poster.
