The Mandalorian

Yah, I think you have unrealistic expectations for a Star Wars thread. :D

My expectations were meet. 😂 I was not expecting big swords or anything. But gizmo really? Stay in your universe. Next thing you know they will wonder off into Borge talk and that does not belong here either. (I am the rare sexy nerd. Ok not so rare these days. 😅)

I guess we will see.

However look at the hits his armor takes. A Mandalorian armor made from the Beskar is able to repel most hits including blaster fire. His new armor is able to do that. His older armor not so much.

Unless you're comparing Gizmo to 1980 Yoda, this is meaningless.

Meanwhile...

Thanks for playing.

It's not hard to roll back the years on an old Yoda and link the influence his design had on Gizmo.

And comparisons were made as late as 2014, though it wouldn't surprise me if comparisons were made as early as 1984, before Twitter or the internet could share someone's light bulb moment.

And, it just so happens that Chris Walas, who created Gizmo in 1984, was a creature consultant on Return of the Jedi in 1983.

I suppose if we were playing games, this is where I'd topple your king and say, "Checkmate." If you're going to be a smart ass, take a minute to learn something.

Wrong. Is this new character Yoda? Is it an adult character who resembles Gizmo in the way the baby character does via the evidence I provided? Do I need to teach you the Star Wars timeline?

...which means nothing, because Yoda had his debut in Empire, and was already defined by Jedi.

If you're going to counter an argument, come with better ammo. ;)

Notice how dude's conveniently fresh tag is only coming for specific members with this "gotcha" M.O.? Like, right off the bat instead of saying, "Hi, I'm Mr. Such-And-Such new to this board and I like Star Wars stuff, too."

who do we know who's done this recently but eventually dried up, mmmm? :D

BTW, I think Baby Yoda was cuter...when he was Gizmo from Gremlins. :rose:

You called him baby Yoda. You don't like being wrong, do you?

And, we're comparing the look of a puppet to a puppet/CGI. The aesthetic, not a characters name.

When you come to a discussion, take notes, then bring them.

I love it! I’m a life long Star Wars fan especially into the Mandolorians as characters and you just can’t beat baby yoda(I know it’s not actually yoda himself)

Damn, Rory...I didn't know you were this deep of an "influencer" to make everyone call this thing "Baby Yoda!"

Lol - nail on the head.

To quote: all too easy.

It's so fucking nuts, man. :D Where and what is this clout here that these schmucks go so hard for? Is it gonna get him ass or something?

the Mr and I are huge fans.

Taika Waititi as the droid bounty hunter had me in stitches. :)

I'm six posts in and I can already see what kind of forum this is.

Great.

People call various Yoda-like characters "baby Yoda", "girl Yoda", etc because there is no name for the species or planet they come from. It's the only way to discuss them. Saying "you said it was Yoda!" is stupid. What else you gonna call it?

Does no one follow the entire conversation? Is everyone thinking of what to say next instead of comprehending what is being said?

RoryN made a snide remark about Gizmo coming first, when in fact it was Yoda, then he tried to play it off by saying an older Yoda doesn't compare, when the pictures show they do. Then he tried to steer the conversation from old Yoda's picture as if the ages meant anything.

We were talking the characteristics of the model. He tried to be smart and say that Gizmo came first, I pointed out it didn't, and then IrezumiKiss joined in for some reason.

Either way, RoryN's argument -- I thought we were having a discussion, I didn't know I had upset him into an argument -- is wrong.

As far as the Mandalorian goes, it's still rough, but it's only three episodes in, so since it's not an instant classic for me, I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season. I like some things, some things I think they could have spent more time on developing, but it's watchable.

If you have thin skin, this isn’t the place for you - just saying.

You’ll find out soon enough that some people around here like to argue for the sake of arguing. Then, if that isn’t good enough, they’ll call you a moron. After that, all the sock puppets will rush in to the rescue and drown out your opinion.

As for the thread topic, I like the Mandalorin so far, no complaints😎

Sorry..but..obviously baby Yoda.

Question 1: Are there any other mentions or viewings of Yoda's species in the SW universe?

Question 2: What happened to Yoda's species, and why was "baby Yoda" wanted to be killed? (As well as the entire race?)

Question 3: Is it true or not that there is a recurring theme of genocide of the "Jedi"?

1) There was another of yoda’s species on the Jedi council in episode 1...gone as of 2

2 & 3) I believe that “baby yoda” is a clone of yoda. It’s 50 years old (putting it at roughly Vader’s age at this point...so “born” around the time that Sidious had started the clone army under the guise that it was for the republic. As Jango Fett had told Obi Wan, he was contracted by yoda’s former apprentice to be part of it all...someone with pretty easy access to yoda and who could conceivably get access to his dna. Finally, the doctor working with the imperials in the Mandalorian has an arm patch insignia that is from the cloners, worn by both the clones and cloners. My guess is, we will find out that this was how Sidious was testing out the immortality trick learned from Darth Plageius. Create a sustainable, clone body of yourself, and transfer your consciousness into it somehow when on the verge of death...explaining why the emperor appears to be a major character in the last movie.
