It had been a month since my older brother was killed in an accident when he was on his way back from college for spring break. I was devastated by his death considering I had been really close to him. Before he went to college, we use to hang out a lot. He would take me to the mall and other places that I wanted to go. He was also there for me if I needed a shoulder to cry on and if I just wanted to talk. I had became really depressed, barely ate, and was separating myself from my friends. In order to try to get through it, I began to help my parents a lot more with chores and errands to help them out.
It was time to clean out the attic. My parents had a lot of stuff that they were going to sell in a yard sale to help out with money. Most of it was stuff that my grandma owned before she died. My parents had inherited the house from her. My grandma was a very eccentric woman. There were rumors that she was a witch, but it was from the neighbor kids in the area. She had a lot of interesting looking stuff. The attic had originally been a room for my mom because she liked the view from the window. There was still a large four post bed with a canopy over it from the 17th century, books about the occult and romance novels, a piano, boxes of clothes, and a large mirror from the 14th century.
"After you are done with the attic, we want you to go do something fun." my mom said, "You are doing way too much. Sara called and she wants you to go to the mall with her. I will even give you the money."
I tried to refuse, but there was no arguing with my parents. I began to start going through things and dust them off so that I could take them downstairs. As I was cleaning, I noticed that there was a note by the mirror. It said: "Put a picture of the one you care about by the mirror to see them, but beware if you spend too much time near this mirror it will change your life in a negative way. Avoid the temptation...". I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. I asked my parents if I could keep it and put it in my room. They agreed and helped me bring it downstairs.
I decided to try it that night after I got home from the mall. I heard a knock on the door. It was my friend, Sara, who I had not seen since my brother's death. "I missed you, girl!" she said giving me a hug. At the mall, I bought a few outfits and then some lingerie when Sara told me that a guy I had a crush on was wanting me to go out with him. I called John and he said that he wanted me to go with him to a charity dance. That night I went home and decided to try the mirror I placed my brother's picture at the side of the mirror and began to get ready for bed. I bought a really cute pink nightie and a pair of pink lace panties. After dressing, a familiar voice startled me.
