I would have to agree with Weird Harold here. I've read some of the other sites, and quite frankly, I don't read most of them any more. The formatting at richardsrealm is atrocious and it distracts so much from the story that I simply don't read those stories. The quality of the stories is quite a bit less as well.

I "kiss Laurel's ass" as you so blithely put it, for one simple reason, so she will feel appreciated. Everyone needs that, don't you think? Feedback is something authors crave, you ought be familiar with it, so that they know what they are doing is appreciated. Authors post these stories for the readers to enjoy, among other reasons. Sending her emails to tell her how much she is appreciated is detrimental at this juncture, she has too many other things to do than open emails. The board is a good place to put these things so she can see them without having to worry about responding.

In addition to offering the BB and the chat as well as the stories, she also keeps the place a free site, when it could just as easily be a pay site.

Call it ass kissing, call it complimenting, or call it just plain fun. Its been said before, if you don't like it, don't read it.

The fact of the matter is that there is a thin line between complimenting and "kissing up". Sure, a pat on the back and "Keep up the good work" advise is something that we can all use once in a while. But hyperthetically speaking, when a thread is labeled, "HOW DO I SUBMIT A STORY" and the posts dwell from the topic onto 100% ASS KISSING, it becomes pathetic. And this is what I am noticing in almost all of the threads.
How about we submit a thread that is dedicated ONLY to compliments, back patting, and ass kissing then? So break out your lip stick and lip balm folks and........ LLLLLLLET'S GET READY TO KISS ASS!!!

I have gotten quite a few e-mails from Literotica readers and/or writers that have told me that they no longer surf the Bullentin Board, due to the uprising epidemic of the ass kissing virus that seems to haunt this website. It's a good thing that I keep Lysol spray near my computer....LOL

Some of us actually like Laurel as more than just a porn site webmaster. I like to think of her as a human being. She may have more interesting things to do with her time than read every single submission she receives the instant she receives it.

Yes, I shamelessly flatter Laurel for no discernable reason. You may call it ass kissing, if that makes you feel better. As I have no motive for doing so other than making a person I consider something of a friend smile, then it is not, by definition, ass kissing. There is no realized gain for me. It will not make her like me anymore, it will not make her send me money, it will not make her post my stories without regard to content, it will not make Dixon send me pictures of himself naked, it will not get me a job, it will not do a thing for me, other than make someone else feel good.

Next time someone puts that .357 magnum Desert Eagle to your head and forces you to submit your stories to a site that cannot post them in a manner you deem timely? Tell them to kiss your ass. It won't be less painful, but the wait isn't nearly as long.

I usually try to avoid beating a dead horse by echoing thoughts already posted, but as I'm waiting for my pizza finish cooking, I'll subject y'all to my opinion.

Yes, the adulation of Laurel can be a bit annoying. But the fact is that Laurel does a great job and honestly deserves the great majority of the praise she gets. I've been to some of the other sites mentioned and they really don't hold a candle to this one. As much bickering that goes on here, there's really a genuine sense of community and that's something I simply haven't found anywhere else. Other sites just strike me as commercial enterprises. This one seems to be a labor of love (or perhaps lust ).

So lay off, GuyJD. You're giving us coonasses a bad name.
