As we head into the main house, I lead you into the living room where my wife and two children are. I smile as I introduce you, "Melissa, this is our new nanny...... Ashley....." I say. I watch as you smile and greet her. I think you are being very polite, but I can see Melissa looking you over. I know that look on her face, and part of me knows I will be hearing about what she thinks about my choice later.
As you finish talking with my wife, I then turn my attention to my children, "Ashley, this is my daughter Lauren, and that is my son, Blake...." I say as I watch you interact with them as well. To me, you are nailing it. You seem excited for the opportunity and you are being very polite to both my wife and children. Blake definitely seems excited, however, Lauren is giving you a dirty look. I expect that, as she did not want a nanny to begin with.
As we sit and talk, Melissa goes into detail about expectations. Her tone is very to the point, and I can tell that she is having doubts about you. I wonder if it is because of how you look. She never was one to be overly jealous, but I can see a bit of jealousy coming out of her today.
I smile as I stand up, "Well, I am glad we all are getting along...... Ashley, I hope you will join us for dinner tonight..... it will be nice to have you with the family." Melissa agrees, "Yes, please join us," she says, but the sound of her voice is a fake nice.
I sigh, "Come on Ashley, I will walk you back to your place....." I say as I lead you back through the house. Once we get outside on the back patio, I smile, "Sorry about that.... I hope it wasn't too awkward for you...."
