Well, there are collars, and then there are collars. I think it's fine to use collars as accessories. Why not? Now, a collar, that's different :)

FWIW, I believe that we're in agreement (cue the shock), for I was definitely talking about collars. It seems to me that a collar ought to hold meaning and having a dozen or so, which is probably a woefully low number for some shoe collectors, I suppose, would dilute the effect, no?

I hold my collar in the highest regard, but I have all sorts of collar-shaped accoutrements which hold only a fancy for me, just a slight affection. So for me, personally, no. I know my collar from a toy :)

I'm thinking out of bdsm context for comparison.

I only have one wedding ring ( though I don't always wear it). I have one because I like that one, and know I like that colour of metal and style etc. many of my friends have one in gold and one in white gold or platinum. They live different lifestyles than I, wear theirs daily, and with other jewellery. For them its the symbol of the ring I guess rather that the ring itself ( as I think it is for me, though differently).

Many people never get married and love each other as much.....no ring.

Can the collar be the same for some.....some want to wear one, some to match to outfits? For me my commitment is made, I don't need anything further ( We felt the same about marriage and our civil ceremony was a paper work formality with no 'event' to legalise something we had already concluded between us. I only need him, his love and care, no symbol. ( similarly mind you.....I don't celebrate my birthday or care for gifts for occasions.....but celebrate his like crazy!)

Haha, I read the collar discussion here and wanted to post this analogy, scrolled down and found that you had already done so.

If you don't have a special collar, with some meaning line a wedding ring, I don't see why you couldn't have one for every occacion.
Although Endless, I think we have talked about shoes before, so perhaps the shoe analogy could get you in trouble, space wise?:D

Reading Darcy's blog is sometimes tough for me.

On one hand I learn a lot, and I love reading about folks who are doing what I want to be doing, where I want to be doing it.

On the other hand, they are all doing what I want to be doing, where I want to be doing it, and are all about my age and I know I'm still at least ten years from being there.

It is simultaneously encouraging and discouraging.

Ummm, I plead the fifth. :D

Though...Collars wouldn't take up nearly as much space as shoes. Just saying. :p

Hell's bells. If you don't have control over your damn dog, at least make sure the damn dog can't slip it's damn collar.

I am going to have a bruise.

Perturbed is an understatement. Why do people feel they have to ignore you and leave you wondering wth instead of just coming out and saying whats going on. Hate the confusion when things go from going alright to nothing.

It's funny how when I say something, people are quick to say I'm the Sociopath Queen of Bitch Mountain, but when those same people say the exact same thing, it's ok and not at all hypocritical?

Blech. I hate everything.
