I found a puppy today that would have torn your heart out. He came up to me, tail wagging, big gray eyes begging for someone to just reassure him.

Of course I picked him up and told him he'd be all right. I think he was just at weaning age. Just a little mutt with no discernible pedigree, except he wanted to be loved. I took him in the house.

We almost had a new member to the family until two crying, sniffling little girls were going door to door looking for their lost puppy. Sigh. I had to give the little guy up. They had just gotten him yesterday and had lost him already.

The puppy yapped for joy. The girls screamed like only little girls could do. Their mother was quite grateful.

I already miss that little guy.
