The new Naked Party Thread.

I last heard from TE999 several hours ago. The storm was just arriving. I hope poor Tom is all right.

Don't know him. Oh, wait. I think I have that one on ignore. Not one of my faves.

Ah, OK.
It's mid-morning, so I think I'll buzz off to the Coffee Lounge for a bit. See you later.

PS. How about THIS for a plot bunny, then ?

"the Air Force never seems to have built a flying saucer" . . . that we know of!

Ah, the Avrocar. From wiki:-
"Originally designed as a fighter-like aircraft capable of very high speeds and altitudes, the project was repeatedly scaled back over time and the U.S. Air Force eventually abandoned it.
Development was then taken up by the U.S. Army for a tactical combat aircraft requirement, a sort of high-performance helicopter.[3]
In flight testing, the Avrocar proved to have unresolved thrust and stability problems that limited it to a degraded, low-performance flight envelope; subsequently, the project was cancelled in September 1961."

Tres sad, ain't it.

The IgNoble prizes are out. I just loved this one:-

Obstetrics - Marisa López-Teijón, Álex García-Faura, Alberto Prats-Galino, and Luis Pallarés Aniorte for a pair of studies “showing that a developing human fetus responds more strongly to music that is played electro-mechanically inside the mother's vagina than to music that is played electro-mechanically on the mother's belly.” The authors even productised their work in the form of the 'Babypod', a speaker designed to be inserted in the vagina.

There's a picture of it: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/09/15/2017_ignobel_prizes/
