This party has been running for a loooong time, yet I haven't looked in until now. Shame on me! My wife and I are long-time nudists, so a naked party seems like a natural destination.

Seriously, after Dad developing post-covid complications and having to be intubated and my writing partner/uncle/best-friend collapsing on me, I've fucking had enough.

Couldn't get to dad, but I'm the one who found Unc. Got him on his feet and to the hospital. 12 hours later, he coded--twice--and was having heart surgery.

And that's some of the better aspects of the past 11 months.

At least I got Unc home. I'm telling you, when they called me at 3.30 AM on Thanksgiving to tell me his heart had stopped twice, I felt my world crash around me. I'm without my soul without that man. He's the brother, the father, the joy of writing, and the only way I can function in this world these days. It was awful.

Just what IS mescal ?

Mezcal is a liquor from Mexico. Similar to tequila, it's made from agave, a desert plant whose fruit is harvested, roasted, and smoked, then fermented and distilled. Unlike tequila, many different types of agave can be used. Tequila is made from only specific agave. Mezcal is sometimes known to have mild hallucinogenic properties and you will often find a pickled worm in the bottle. This originally happened by accident in the last century when a moth larva was found in one maker's mezcal and he discovered it added flavor. Weird stuff happens when you make mezcal.
