[OOC : This is a closed thread for myself and slicemeup.]
Nesbert Holdings was not a corporation many knew anything about, which was the entire intent behind the corporation in the first place. It served as a convenient shield for the real corporate interests of the board of Nesbert Holdings.
Biogenesis Ltd.
The biotech company had been at the forefront of a few major discoveries, as well as a few equally quiet patents being issued by the government, in return for some equally quiet benefits to the US defensive capabilities. Genetic manipulation, with the intent of eradicating genetically passable conditions, was also applied to make humans better in other ways. More resistant to damage, heal faster, be stronger. The list went on. The scientists managed these feats of near miraculous outcomes by borrowing from what nature already supplied.
Boosted reflexes, increased agility and dexterity were isolated in the DNA of felines, but every time they introduced the foreign DNA, they would get too many other feline elements coming through, making the subject more monstrous than human. The same issue came up when using Canine/Lupine DNA, and any other animal DNA that was infused into a subject.
But the testing and research continued, and one scientist discovered a combination that was useful in a totally different way that would allow the corporation to recoup some of the money spent of the research.
"We have a Nekomimi!"
"A what?"
The scientist sat down carefully, adjusting the white coat to maintain his appearance before the expensively dressed executive across the table.
"A catgirl. For years, there has been a genre of anime about these creatures. There are people out there would would buy these from us for a small fortune each. With a little tweaking, they would be a perfect product."
"How so?" The executive was more curious now.
"Well, they are the feature of many sexual fantasies. With the proper adjustments to their neurological layout, and some training, they would be... well... sex toys. Their pain thresholds are higher, they are much more agile, flexible, playful. Make them loyal to whoever owns them..."
"How long before you can demonstrate one of these?"
"About five to seven days."
"Do it."
Through a dummy corporation, Neko Unlimited, the newly created creatures were being sold to a discrete customer base under the full sanction of the US, Japanese, Chinese and most European nations. Most citizens were unaware of the new creatures, and Nesbert Holdings was working on the PR campaign for when the news finally broke that the creatures existed.
The main line of research continued, while the artificially created, then bred, catboys & catgirls were sold to further the company's bottom line. All was going fine until...
"Doctor Rosemont?" The mousy looking woman shifted from one foot to the other, occasionally glancing over her shoulder.
"Mmmm? What is it, Angela?"
"We... have a problem."
The graying man lifted his head from looking at the monitor, peering over it and his glasses at Angela, who's face was growing lighter by the minute.
"What kind of problem, Angela?"
"Subject... ah... N-two-one-five, Doctor. She's... um... she's..."
"She's what? Ill? Refusing to eat? She's not scheduled for mating is she?"
"She's... missing."
