Because the Secret Service says so and is actually going to screen every single person coming into the venue unlike gun-free zones where they believe that a sign saying it's a gun-free zone provides some sort of security. Are you really this dumb?

I have no problem with any location that is actually gun-free. Not pretend-gun-free. Loaded firearms are forbidden in most gun shows. There's actually a guy at the door checking to make sure your gun is unloaded when you walk in with it.

Yeti, an exhibitor at the 2017 NRA convention, doesn’t appear on this year’s list of exhibitors.

Neither do Camelbak or Bolle, both owned by outdoor sporting conglomerate Vista Outdoor. Camelbak, which makes water bottles, and Bolle, which makes sunglasses and bicycle helmets, both exhibited at last year’s conference, according to an NRA website.

After the Parkland shooting, major retailers said they’d stop ordering products from Vista brands because the corporation — which also owns makers of ammunition and rifles — hadn’t sought “common sense solutions” to prevent future mass shootings. Earlier this week, Vista said it wants to sell its gun business as part of a “strategic business transformation plan,” though it will continue to sell ammunition.

Nikon had planned to exhibit 28 new products at the convention, according to a cached NRA webpage from March 1.

“Prepare to experience an all-new Nikon at NRA 2018 with a greatly expanded presence in the tactical shooting optics world,” says a description that appears on that now-inactive page. It also notes that Nikon would be in booth 7420 in the Dallas exhibit hall.

But a current floor plan of the exhibit hall shows that booth 7420 is now occupied by Blingsting, a Dallas company.

Earlier this year, Blingsting had been unable to get an exhibit space for the conference; there wasn’t any room, said Andi Attebery, one of the company’s owners. Not too long ago, though, she called the NRA back on a whim and learned that a booth had just opened up, she said. She was happy with the location, which she said is near some really big companies.

Another cached NRA webpage from March 25 indicates that a company called Brand Champion Marketing had reserved Booth 96.

Booth 96 in the exhibit hall now has a very different occupant: the Army Reserve Careers Division, Area 6, 12th Battalion. Army Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Brookshire says he’ll use the booth to advertise the career- and benefits-counseling services he offers to military veterans.

Still, he wasn’t sure it would happen; the service doesn’t have a big budget and for a while, he wasn’t sure the NRA would find a booth for him. Then about two weeks ago, Brookshire said, the organization offered a booth at what he called a very steep discount. “This is just a great opportunity for us, so we are really happy this all worked out,” he said.

Publix suspends political contributions following criticism for supporting pro-NRA candidate

On Tuesday, (Parkland survivor David) Hogg called on advocates of gun reform to stop shopping at Publix until the company withdraws its support for gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam, who has earned a top rating from the powerful gun-rights group and even once described himself on Twitter as a "proud NRA sellout."

Publix and its leadership have donated $670,000 over three years to Putnam, according to the Tampa Bay Times. He currently serves as Florida's commissioner of agriculture.

The NRA of today is no longer the "civil rights organization" it once was. It's a political cartoon.

The group has forfeited its ability to represent American gun owners like me. We are no longer, as my father once said, like-minded. There are real problems with guns falling into the hands of people who shouldn't have them — problems that deserve real debate grounded in real solutions, not divisive rhetoric. We need an organization to represent gun owners across the political spectrum in these crucial conversations.

Dick's, one of the nation's largest sports retailers, said February 28 that it was immediately ending sales of all assault-style rifles in its stores. The retailer also said that it would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and that it would not sell any gun to anyone under 21 years of age, regardless of local laws.

Net income for the first quarter rose to $60.1 million at Dick’s Sporting Goods, up from the same quarter the year before, when it were $58.2 million. Sales were also up, increasing 4.6% to $1.91 billion.

The results indicate that, at least so far, the threatened boycotts by the gun community and actions by gun manufacturers to isolate Dick’s didn’t have an effect on the retailer’s financial picture.

GUN sales are down. So yes it did affect their bottom line, and will forever having alienated 1/2 of the sporting public or more. The fact that a few people are throwing them some support now is temporary.

There has been a concerned effort from anti-gun folks to demand that businesses divest from the gun industry.

This isn't an example of the NRA sinking, it's an example of anti-gunners trying to engage in sanctions.

I already don't use paypal because of their anti-gun stances, I have no problem not using Enterprise either.

I don't use paypal because Peter Thiel is a cancer on society, but it's good to have another backup reason to not use them.
