the "new law" is not a new law.... they were written into law back in 1994 (or was it '96)... under the clinton administration... and due to, among other things, a new influx of underage registrees to these adult forums, (and it's not just LIT being affected), they're cracking down and tightening up... enforcing the laws that have been on the books for years.

Do I agree with all of it?.... nope... but I can sure understand the reasoning behind it.

Keep in mind tho that stays and injunctions have been filed and this is all being battled out in court... could be days, or months or years before we see any differences in the way things are run here... if ever

Laws might have been on books during Clinton's admin... but they were just AJUSTED by this administration. If they enforced you can kiss off your access to a LOT of porn. No one will want to take the risks!

Granted I'm not supportive of this administration at all....... but the fact is the changes were made recently are the ones that are going to be the biggest problem.... they take effect.... tomorrow?? or by the end of this month anyways.

Changes....... ?? I know some sites are already closing up.... and some are removing picts they can't document. The bottom line is while some might have the money to fight.... the fines or court costs for most "hobbiests" will not be worth the risk.

Well I did sign up to Pengy's place to try and explain things, but haven't as yet recieved the registration email..

So will try and explain things here for you all..

The Site was indeed initially taken down in Anger due to the whine of a few, and I felt certain areas needed to be improved/changed if the site was to carry on without tearing itself apart..

Now I'd just turned the forums off, I hadn't bothered to look at the notice that would be displayed so didn't realise it was quite so harsh (an honest mistake on my behalf)

anyways, I soon recieved two highly abbusive emails which narked me even more.. and I responded to them in the short sharp manner they deserved (which probably fueled the rumours)

Now this is where things took an unfortunate turn for the worst, the hosts noticing the site was down then decided to spring on me that the felt it was no longer a good idea to be the hosts of an adult site, because of all the law changes and problems erotica sites are facing, and also because of a few dDos attacks we'd suffered they wanted us to move to other hosts..

Well, not much you can do when your host tells you to up and leave, so I backed up the site and went looking for new hosts, during which time I was still uncertain about the future of the site, the old hosts had used clauses in their contract to mean we were going to get a refund on our payment, so a new host would mean more money, money I didn't have.. and I certainly didn't want to go begging the users again..

So there we are, no hosts and a site without hosts is no site at all, nobody wants to touch it because of the domainname and the nature of the site because they all fear for legal problems with it over the coming weeks and months as new laws are rolled out and tested..

So the site is dead in small part to my reaction to a few members comments, but mostly because our host got cold feet and nobody else will touch it with a bardge pole, so I've decided to try and sell the justerotica domain name in the hope that an existing site might wish to purchase it, and will then use the cash from the sale to refund those that were kind enough to donate to help the site..

I'm sorry folks, Really I am, I loved JE as much as the rest of you why else would I put in the many hours I did making it all work the way everyone wanted, I miss it more probably because it was baby, my growing project, cut down before it ever really got a chance..

I am considering the prospect of opening up a more general forum, with a more obscure name and having an erotic section as part of that in a bid to try and keep everyone together and not let the dream fully die, but of course would need everyones help with getting that up and running..

Well I've just moved house so have been real busy, only just getting back to focusing on the websites, will be getting it back online in the coming weeks.
