He he...

I've become an expert on rodents... I've been in the new place for 6 weeks today and have killed 4 rats and about 6 mice!

Why they like my yard I don't know... There isn't any food around for them but if I don't control them I know the snakes will come...

1) if there are places for them to keep cover, they will love it,
2) if there is stuff for them to chew on or pull around to make nests they will love it.
A place to hide & breed is more essential to them than food...
trust me I breed the damn things FOR snake food remember??LOL

the snakes may come, but they will only stay till the food runs out...
& if they do come & clear out the rodents but then won't go... put down cedar chips, these are normally deadly to snakes... but DON"T put them down if you have rodents... the rodents will eat them & kill any snakes that eat the rodents...Rodents can reproduce about 10 pups every 2 months, these pups sexually mature at 6-8 weeks old, you do the math...
I had one of my momma rats impregnated by one of her sons while they were still nursing !!!
enuff about rodents... lets get back to the OSP thread... :)

LOL... I know Steg...

My trapping is temporary until we hire a landscape designer to enclose the yard to keep them out.

You were correct about using oily meats. I used pastrami and after two days in the sun and heat it was almost jerky but I caught two in two nights.

The dang buggers ate holes through the pool skimmer net that is metal window screen... I found a path of screen heading back into the brush which has now been cleared back to the mandatory 100' so now all the predators have a chance to get'm first too.

Like ya said tho, time to get back to OSP...

#2 checking in... ;)

I'm now intercepting them before they make nests. ;)

NICE work!!!!

Who made those?? They're very well done...

I did... :D

It's loom work. I got the itch last year to try my hand at bead work.

I made these two strips and then started hand stitching on a barrett that I need to finish. I also have a larg dear hide that I want to use for other projects.

I hope that I will get some time after things normalize here again.

I'm just to darn busy right now.

VERY nice, au!!!

I'm impressed!

Loom work is fun. It looks like you used some good quality beads, too - for my classes, I tend to go cheap, so the sizes are all that consistent.

Really nice work, au.... Very nice...

Thanks I did have to sort through a lot of beads to keep the width consistant as the sizes of differing colors does vary as I'm sure you know...

Now if I can just improve my stitching skills to the point I can make my own shirt from deer hide...

I know that one can never make back the investment of time but I do enjoy the creativity.

I have a beading program that makes the design very easy and actually keeps a bead count too.

So, you teach beading, or are you taking classes?

No, no classes... I teach a group of little kids some traditional crafts during the summer...

I learned from my grandparents, and from some other native people in this area...

If you're willing to spend some extra money, try buying delica beads. They're more expensive, but *very* consistent in size...

Thanks for the tip!

The beads I purchased were smaller than traditional... To make matter worse my eyes have gotten weak with age and I have to use a lamp and large magnifying glass to see what I'm doing...

Seems we missed my lamp during the move and it is now gone but the wife has promissed to replace it for me. ;)

I still have much to learn but have spent many hours collecting designs from many other native people to use in my own designs. I have spent hours researching musiums on line that have photos for original bead work...

I have a deep respect for the native people, their arts and culture and all who do everything they can to keep the way of life alive.
