If you've started doing freehand work, you're learning fast! Don't be discouraged with learning it - your first few tries with Cheyenne Brick or Peyote stitch may come out rough... But when you get used to it, you can make some beautiful things with them...au_man said:Thanks for the tip!
The beads I purchased were smaller than traditional... To make matter worse my eyes have gotten weak with age and I have to use a lamp and large magnifying glass to see what I'm doing...
Seems we missed my lamp during the move and it is now gone but the wife has promissed to replace it for me.![]()
I still have much to learn but have spent many hours collecting designs from many other native people to use in my own designs. I have spent hours researching musiums on line that have photos for original bead work...
I have a deep respect for the native people, their arts and culture and all who do everything they can to keep the way of life alive.
As for stitching the deer hide, I still just use a heavy needle, and simulated sinew... Would prefer to use real sinew, but it's hard to come by large quantities of it, and it's *very* expensive to get good stuff...
Happy throbbing, thumping Thursday tongue lickers!!
would you want it any other way?
