Mars,
I would strongly suggest Fanny Hill. Intensely erotic and sensous. I read it years ago, and it still sticks with me today. Some of the scenes in there were so hot! Wow!
There's always the Marquis de Sade if you are into that sort of thing. Even if you are not, it's an intersting look at BDSM erotica during the Victorian Age.
I have never read any real erotica literature. But I do like your suggestion Ariosto! I tend to be a bit turned off my the vulgar terms. I prefer a more sensuous scene. (well maybe turned off is a bad term. I like it at times but wouldn't want to eat it every day, so to speak).
I cannot speak for the men, but I think woman lack romance in their life. The real world interferes with sex. (I am not blaming men here, ok...lol) It's just that I think women need more sensual stimulation. And when I read some of these guys works I am ready to run off with them...lol (oh, and the women's work too...lol)
<could someone turn up the a/c in here...It's getting rather warm. .....I pluck an icecube from Chele's drink and run it down into my cleavage>
I think all women are different. Yes, they all like the sensual, romantic stuff, but many here at Lit. go for the down and dirty, gutteral stuff as well. I try to keep in mind the female player's personality(what I know of it) when in a sex scene and tailor it to what I think they'd like. I don't know if I succeed or not, but I try.
*browses club bookshelves for Fanny Hill. Sneaks glance at Sexy, MtnAngel, and the cool droplet running between her breasts.*
Oops! I reread my last post and see that it may have sounded sarcastic. I was actually serious when I said that some of the writers (most actually) make me want to run off with them.
I tend to lean toward variety. Yes I enjoy the down and dirty stuff. But the work that gives me the most fulfillment is when I write to a slow build up. I like to hook the reader, keeping them wanting more. That's what I think is sexy!
I also want my character to have some motivation. I do not want to portray a virgin, for example, that just hops into bed.
I would like to know from the other ladies if I am alone in my feelings or do most enjoy the romance end? (but then I am the Headmistress of the School for the Romantically Deprived -- can't you tell by my dirty knees)
Well Mars and MtnAngel,
The writings of the Marquis deSade, from what I have heard, are good, but I've never had the opportunity to read them.
Also, major bookstores have some fairly good selections of erotica. The difference is between erotica and merely writing works of masturbatory skill. I'll let your imaginations fly.
However, trying to write in the erotic style of 100 years ago, while absolutely delightful to read, takes a tremendous effort to write - short quips may take hours. Also, it doesn't always suit everybody's style of reading. So you would have to determine: is SRP for the players? or for the readers? or a combination of both?
However, it may be an interesting endeavor to try. A slow one, perhaps, but sometimes slow is good....very good.
Well ariosto it would be a good exercise but from what I remember of the Pearl didn't they use cock and quim and so on quite a bit? And I agree with sexychele, I wouldn't want to pour a lot of time and energy into a period piece...
As far as erotica goes, that's a tough one. One person's wank is another's chuckle. I think Anne Rice is a great writer, for example, but when I tried to read her Beauty erotica novel it seemed to be mostly about spanking, which unfortunately doesn't really do it for me... I don't mind short scenes of it, but page after page after page?
Ariosto on being confronted by his (former) employer, drops his olive in mid suck. It bounces off the matini glass, rolls across the table, falls to the floor and stops finally under the stiletto heel of Lady Make-My-Day, who relishing the moment, slowly grinds the soft little thing into the carpet.
"Well?" She says with a wicked leer.
Ariosto aware of all his patron's rapt attention, blushes crimson.
"Ummm...I don't think I was quite ready Ma'am (a galling confession).Your house is err..unique. Beyond my modest abilities actually. I became quite lost after I showered with, with..."
"Natalya, you mean my maid Natalya whom you left practicaly in a state of flagrant delecti!"
She leans over the table, her breasts point like rockets at her would be domestic.
"Well no it wasn't exactly like that...(he squirms)
Here, let me by you a drink, anything in the house. Name it! Just name it."
He stands and adresses his attentive clientel,
"Everyone this is Make-My-Day, ain't she grand!
I used to work for her when I was a butler."
In a whispered aside..."You aren't going to hold me to that contract are you?"
Stirling is probably right, a flowery period piece would be a literary challenge rather than a topic for SRP. But what if the idea was to write a modern RP avoiding the use of the words we've all come to rely on. That I believe might be fun and not tedious.
I also agree with Stirling about being spanked and whipped. A little goes a long way. If any of you folks do get a big turn on from it maybe you could
explain it (I'm serious) to those of us who miss the point.
<Slips into the room, looks around, smirks at Make_My_Day bullying Ariosto, nods to MtnAngelWV, sits down and orders a Glenlivet on the rocks>
So, kind of a "kick the idea til it squirms and begs for release" kind of thread, hmm?
I've asked this before, and couldn't get a straight answer out of anyone at work either, but I work in a major bookstore and was always confused and amused by the fact that DeSade's works (120 Days of Sodom, Justine, Juliette, &c) are all in the Literature section, and Masoch's "Venus in Furs" is in Erotica. This still baffles me.
I would recommend reading "Three Rivers" by Roberta Latow.
That particular book is my own personal favorite, and there are passages in there that will leave you breathless..
*tip-don't loan that book out... most often you won't get it back...lol. I'm on my fourth copy.
Her books are very hard to find, unless you shop e-bay, or look in used book stores. If you look at the available book lists in the Amazon UK listings for her, many book titles of hers have never been available in USA. Perhaps because her books are so extremely vivid, and XXX erotica. Roberta Latow writes like velvet, sweeping you right into the love scenes. "Three Rivers" is a wonderful story, her books are romantic erotica, with a little of everything thrown in, making them enjoyable for both sexes. Many are out of print, so buying her paperbacks is an investment in the future. For instance one I purchased for $3, was selling on E-bay for $25. I believe she is out of Germany or UK, I'm not sure.
All that I've read of hers is exceptionally good. The stories are
all terrific, and she knows just how to keep her reader right there.
I can't put her books down, once I start one.
Regarding writing roleplay, I think women would prefer a slower
pace, more romance and foreplay going on... I think it takes us longer to get 'there' than men.
As far as BDSM, I think D/s is really more interesting... like a delayed orgasm, without all the pain & violence associated with
S/M. But everyone has different comfort levels.
Thank you for the recommendation! You make it sound SO sensuous and alluring, I'll definitely try to check her out.
As far as BDSM, I was never interested until I joined Literotica. Through roleplaying and so forth, I must admit the kink is starting to grow on me, but only the milder stuff. Whips and excessive pain seem to be a turn off for most people I've talked to.
Flattery won't get you anywhere ariosto..
But no, of course I won't hold you to your contract!
bows to the crowd and slides to the chair.. crosses her legs..
I'll have a port wine
A resignation would have been nice though...
Should another butler come along, I can hire him right?!
I was so happy to have found a butler at last..
accepts the port wine from ariosto..
Thank you
Now, I'll just sit here and listen for a little while, cause I don't know shit about any American erotic writers. I know a great Dutch one though..
And I know DeSade but have read very little of his work..
Oh oh.. wait.. I have read books by Nancy Friday.. she collected letters from women, in which they told their sexual fantasies, very intersting reading indeed.
Good, I know you will enjoy Roberta Latow, mars99.
I also understand what you mean about your interest increasing
in BDSM since participating here in roleplay, etc. That happened to me as well. I didn't have too much knowledge in that area, but reading up on it on the net, and roleplay sparked the interest. D/s is very erotic to me, but in real life I probably would run at the sight of chains and whips, but then...
that slight doubt about whether I would keeps me addicted to the delicious possibility... *S
Hey Ari, did you leave the box checked where you sent yourself a copy of every message you sent out. If so your 'sent' folder would be really full by now. There's a little pull-down menu to change what folder you are in. I have to remind myself to uncheck that box all the time.
Thanks to all of you for the advice. I didn't mean to use the Club for my little problems...Thanks Xan, but I have no folders showing on my Control panel at all. I'll email the MegaSwami's and see what they can do.
Well we didn't come here to talk about my PM problem...fixed now by the way.
Let's talk about something near and dear to my heart and most everyones.
Breasts.
Perhaps it's the artist in me or the red blooded american but I just love the well rounded, or small pert (not terribly choosy)
part of a woman that reminds me of Mom.
Since we are writing here not only to show off our unique and
literate styles but also to turn each other on, (we are aren't we?)
I'd like to ask the ladies how erogenous to them can be the writing about this particular erogenous zone. Are there some little tips , they'd like to share with us mammary challenged males.
Also a big kiss to anyone with a USABLE alternative to 'breast' and 'tit'
I, personally, am not all that turned on by tweaking, plucking or pinching of the nipples. I think that varying degrees of pressures placed upon them or using different "instruments" is a bigger turn on. Instead of hands, fingers or mouths maybe use ice cube, feather, sand paper, etc., to arouse this area.
Although the breasts seem to be directly linked to our pleasure, I am somewhat biased in my opinions of this area. Having been cursed (or blessed) with a very large chest at a very young age, I feel that they are a tadbit overrated. <yes, that's me with the invisible sign -- "reach out and touch someone" -- imprinted on my chest, since most men have an indesribable need to fondle them...lol)
Bosom -- would be another word for breast or tit -- but for some reason it sounds TOO proper.
Also, I was reading the thread "hawkes of the sea" and Sojournerwolf had, what I feel anyway, a great alternative to "pusy" and it was "fleshy gate." I kind of liked it and/or variations on the same theme.
----Afternooner, sneaking in hoping, that no one will ask him what hes doing up so late.---
Actually I'm looking for MTTnAngel (not a typo I heard what she said about her mammary glands.) Just kidding angel, thanks for inadvertantly leading me to this thread. and this club. Give me a beer and a bump and I'll be ready for bed. See you all tomorrow on a thread or at the club.
---Afternooner sneaking out trying to remember not to grope MTTnAngel on the way.----
