The Outlook

Most people don't realize that he's one of the few engineers referenced in Star Trek (in the form of the episode of TNG in which they encounter Captain Montgomery Scott in a bufferlooped transporter in a crashed shuttlepod...crashed on, of all things, a Dyson Sphere)

I never knew that he was the one they meant. I thought a Dyson's sphere was sort of like a Ringworld, ala Larry Niven, where all the planetary mass in the star system was formed into a ring around the star at the optimum distance for life support, but in a Dyson's sphere, it is an entire sphere, not just a ring.

lol. Dyson designed the concept as a description of the perfect use of the energy of the sun.

Message floats on the wind to Thyri, "Did you want to join me in the inn? or did you want to have that swim?"

The sun had set. The sky was dark but for the twinkling stars. A set of feet left footprints in the sand, all of which were swept away as the waves rolled in and gathered them, taking them back out to sea. The waves caressed her ankles as she walked close to the water's edge, sandals held in one hand. The beach stretched for miles, seemingly endless. Now and then, she stopped to pick up a shell and examine it, tucking it into a small purse she carried.

Awakens from my quick nap.

Mmm... wha-?

Gets up and gets a drink from the bar then heads out to the pier and gazes out at the ocean. ponder to himself about his recent task.

Her steps slowed as the pier came into view. Someone was out there. It was too dark to tell who exactly. She paused, wondering if she should.... then shook her head. She had been bold enough making her way to the Outlook as it was. Instead, she opted to continue her walk.

Seeing the female warrior wandering down the beach, Apollo rose from his chair, stretching a little, before suddenly vanishing from the deck, appearing behind her as if he had being trying to catch up.

Hi... mind if you had some company?

*flying waterbombs that explode in the vicinity, drenching everything for about three meters around*

Her step paused, turning around to see who was speaking to her. She smiled, "Hello. I wouldn't mind at all." She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, "What brings you down here this time of night?"

He raised a hand, shooting all thrown waterbombs back at Dragon, before smiling.

Just the relaxation. Besides, beautiful women shouldn't walk alone on a lovely night like this... how about you?

Her head had turned sharply as if sensing something. However, her current companion saw to the matter. She stared up into the darkness, trying to see who the mischief maker was, but darkness cloaked them. She turned back to look at Apollo a moment, "Thank you for that," then started walking again. She shrugged. "I enjoy the sea and it called to me. Far be it from me to be able to resist such a lovely night."

hot here, I've come to the outlook to cool off with a swim in the ocean.

Apollo followed, matching her gentle pace and observing her stance like it was a thing of beauty. "I'm afraid that it's you that makes this night even more lovely than it could ever be..." He paused, before looking down shyly.

"Sorry. I'm just another hopeless romantic."

She glanced at him, "You're very kind and there's nothing wrong with being a romantic, ---" she laughed softly, "I'm sorry, I don't even know your name," she stopped and turned toward him, " I've been called several things before, but please, call me Caitlin. Most call me Dark, but Caitlin is my given name."

Smiling, Apollo gently took Caitlin's hand and placed a soft kiss upon her knuckle. "Pleased to meet you... People tend to call me Apollo. I'd tell you my real name, but I think it'd be best if I told you in private. That is... if you don't mind being alone with someone like me."

Giving her a playful wink, invoking the possibilities of what he meant, Apollo waved a hand and a blanket appeared, resting gently on the cool sand. "I believe this is a good spot, no?"

needing a bit quieter atmosphere my steps draw me to the outlook where I sit on a rock looking out over the waves.

She arched a brow in his direction, "And why, praytell, Milord, would I mind being alone with you? Do you have an ill reputation I need to consider?" Her tone was teasing as she gathered the hem of her sarong and sat upon the blanket he so thoughtfully provided.

She arched a brow in his direction but for the moment said nothing, "And why, praytell, Milord, would I mind being alone with you? Do you have an ill reputation I need to consider?" Her tone was teasing as she gathered the hem of her sarong and sat upon the blanket he so thoughtfully provided.

He smirked. "It all depends on what you would want to do with me... and my reputation is far from ill, but I can't say it's fantastic either. I'll let you decide." Sitting with her, Apollo laid down and gazed up at the stars, admiring the shimmers that he has to banish from the sky every day.
