Scarlet Dragon
The tables turned quickly as Wulf, Jura, Blade and the remaining men charged into the battle on the deck of the Scarlet Dragon. In minutes, all the Sea Devils had been sent back to their own dimension. Nya had returned from the battle under the ship, and was relieved to hear Red was no longer singing her horrible song.
“Was it that bad?” Red asked Nya as she pushed another dead Sea Devil into the sea.
“Once every 150 generations or so, there is a song. A song that shines like a sun of hope across our vast, dark world. A song that holds a mirror up to society so that it may gaze upon its sallow visage and take stock of it’s potential. A song, by way of its mere existence, threatens to shatter all evil in our civilization and construct anew the foundation for this world.” Nya explained. “Ahhh your song … was not that song. In fact, I think it was the opposite of that song. Please never sing it again. The Baddie Crunch! the tittle of it almost makes me vomit!”
“Wow … that was harsh!” Red commented
Wulf ordered a damage report be taken. All stations reported back to him and it was learned the Scarlet Dragon had lost 5 crew members. In addition, a boatswain had splintered his thigh bone. A catapult operator had several shark teeth embedded just above his left eye, and finally a ballista operator had lost 4 forefingers and his thumb from his right hand. Jabil was called over to preform whatever healing magic was possible. Any that could not be healed, would be fitted with wooden peg leg, a hook or a patch for their eye.
Jabnil looked like shit herself, with contusions all over her perfect skin. But she used what magic she had left to help the wounded.
The ship’s damage was not too bad. The mast had taken a few powerful blows from swords and tridents but could be repaired quickly. It was still structural sound. The rigging was damaged but some new lines would fix that up quickly. The worst damage was in the storage room … a large amount of the food was gone and worse much of the fresh water too. All the porthole windows needed repair except one.
Red nodded as Wulf reported the damage.
“We’ll need to resupply … Let’s get underway as soon as possible. We are a sitting duck for more sea devil attacks if we stay here. Our new destination is the Chain Archipelagos and in particular Albatros Isle. We can resupply there.” Red ordered.
