Do you have any idea what civilized countries think when they hear Republicans arguing about how the threadbare rag of a health act Obama cajoled through a bought and paid for Congress is socialism?

This isn't Woodrow Wilson or Charles Lindbergh's time any more: you can't isolate yourselves from the world and hope it will play nicely. Especially when you keep starting wars and not finishing them. And it isn't the 1950s any more - the world is no longer in thrall to American manufacturing and the dollar.

America ought to be the most wonderful country in the world. It has the best universities, the best research funding, a wonderfully productive country...and yet, increasingly, when I hear Repubricats and Democans arguing it reminds me of Borges describing the Falklands conflict: 'Two bald men fighting over a comb.'

Free education would certainly have been a good idea in your case, you semi-literate chump. But if you really mean some kind of half-way house between socialism and capitalism, you are looking at the kind of social-democratic governments popular in Europe post-war for 50 years or so. Denmark, Holland and Scandinavia still have something similar to this. 60-80% top tax thresholds, free education, health, childcare, etc, etc - excellent quality of life, BUT lots of large, independent companies trading freely.

The problem is, the American definition of socialism is so far off base that you consider Obama to be a socialist. He is, by his words and deeds, an out and out capitalist. This mythical space between Democrats and Capitalism isn't even a cigarette paper in width.

I Agree Free college with Regs that need to be met I am all for that. But I do think student loan debt is getting to high these days and without a job after you Graduate with you Degree then your shit out of luck because you still have a debt to pay regardless. but a free college like Canada would work or something like that.

I do not agree that the wealthy should get a tax break over and over again. I firmly believe they should pay more in taxes.. Yes they might encourge Job creation.. but they need to be paided more and more.

Also Not a big fan of cuts to pell grants.. The Republican budget would do that and its a big No No. Why limit even more people going to college.

But anyway why are we getting angry over this.. Even if this passes.. its not binding and the president does not have to sign it at all or veto it. its Non binding and only sets benchmarks for spending.. Which Obama can veto when they give him the bill. so its more symbolic than anything.

Let the illegal aliens die? Then what?

Nope, the Senate passed a non-binding resolution. More Rethuglican Derp.

In another display of bold, big boy leadership, Senate Republicans just barely passed a budget resolution on Tuesday, which serves no purpose whatsoever other than putting on the record, again, that they are the party of terrible people who want to do terrible things to America. As if we didn’t already know.

The non-binding resolution does not go to Obama’s desk to be signed into law. Instead, it helps guide Congress’ consideration of government agency spending bills and serves as a Republican fiscal policy manifesto that will influence 2016 election campaigns.
