The Seven Keys.

Cali

It took me a moment to make my brain come up with an answer- it was busy salivating over a guy that was obviously able to take care of himself.
"Huh- uh, no," I could feel myself blushing and hoped my tan hid it. "Sorry, I've a thing for chest scars- living through something that scared that badly..."
I laid my hand on his chest and looked up into his eyes, a smile that was a mix of lustful, admiring, tired and pleased on my face. "It means that you're very strong- a wise thing in a man I plan to follow. A very good thing in a man I'm going to sleep with."
I stepped back. "You go clean up- bit chilly in here, so I'm going to go hop in bed."
I laid a kiss on his lips, brief and soft. "Take as long as you need, Yris."

Yrismir

Yrismir was a bit suprised. He had had several different emotions shown over what that ogre had done to him. He rubbed his hand on the wound, moving inside, and filling the tub with hot water with a thought. He could feel the ship beneath his bare feet.

It was more than the feel he'd had at other times. This ship was alive. He grunted, and completed his undressing, lowering himself into the water. His head jerked to the side as he finished getting in.

He closed his eyes, lowering his head. He sighed, but steeled himself against the terror-filled screams that echoed inside his head. He dared not even suggest turning back unless needed, and even then, they'd try another port. But this, he was certain, now,...

And if they were the Champions of the Evil Gods, that made the Girl,... Well, it was a start. Hopefully, they would never need to return to the island. It would make it harder for the others to find items, he knew, but not impossible. He sighed.

He relaxed into the hot water, letting the screams run through him. And suddenly, they were gone. He put his face in his hands. "Oh, dear Gods,...I'm sorry. But who would have thought,...?"

He sighed, and took to washing himself. Once he was finished, he got out, letting the tub go empty again. He performed a small spell, and cleaned his pants, pulling them back on. He stepped into the other room, looking at Cali. He grabbed his staff from where his things were. "I have to take care of a few things,...I will be back, very soon."

He stepped out beyond the room, closing the door behind him, and made his way into another, empty room. He was going to be busy, so he had to take care of his staff.

The ship cut through the waves at a lightning pace. We were miles from the trade isle, miles from the foes we had encountered and miles from our next stop. I would have to call us all together at some point during the voyage and let everyone know why the girl was so important. I was pretty sure Yrismir had figured it out. He was a sharp knife for a drunk. But he had likely sobered up by now. Hopefully, we could get along better following day.

The ship shuddered a bit and steam rose off the sea around it. I knew what that was. We were attempting to be scryed. I rose my hand.

"Invisible to the eye, both naked and enhanced," I said. ." The ship gave off a soft glisten. We were hidden behind a shield of great magic power. Not one of mine, but of the Whisper's herself. And whoever attempted to scry us in the next few hours would get the equivelent of hot poker to their eyes. It wasn't a permanent blindness, but it usually got the message across. Or that's what Lan had told me. I swear the Gods themselves had to have built her with all of the magical bells and whistles on her. I really regretted not having asked Lan where he had gotten this ship. I was grateful that he had given it to me though. I was also glad that he had taken the time to teach me all of the protective wards and other spells this ship possessed. I always felt safe on the Whisper.

I looked back to the moon in it's full glory. I sighed once more. I would call the group together in the morning. Or after I got up. Whichever happened later.

Trianna

OOC: Pfttt! If you think I am writing a monster post to include everything she does up until now you are going to be sadly disappointed. Lets just say she was there and couldn't shoot her arrows because of what she considered innocent bystanders being too close. 'Nuff said.

IC: Trianna sat on the deck. She would not go below except to eat. The feeling of being in an inclosed place would be too stiffling for her and she prefered to sleep out in the open, on the deck of the ship if need be.

Sitting there, watching the waves as they lapped along the ship, she reached in her pack and took out a small stringed instrument. Strumming it, she hummed to the sparkling music of the tune. Then, low at first, she began to sing.

It wasn't actually a magic spell, more a song, a prayer or hymn to the Elvin God of the sea for a safe passage of the ship and protection against their enemies.

As she sang, she lost herself in the music, let it swirl about her and let her voice carry over the ship and the waves below.

Ophelia

Ophelia had not entered the fight for the girl. With magics flying about she was sure to get hit before she could get in a physical blow. She contented herself with watching from the shadows, her eyes taking in details of the enemy and, when they ran, she was right behind them, though they could not see her in their panic.

In fact, she had watched Goven and his new toy as well as the big brute who followed him. With a raised eyebrow she noted the effect the water had on his flesh and, when he transported out, she chose to come out of the shadows and walk to the portal instead. Magic, no matter if it was a spell meant to serve, still gave her the creeps.

She was one of the last to reenter the place they had started and she melted into the shadows. It was probably not going to be a pleasant sight when the person who sent them found out they had failed the first step and she didn't want to be up front with everything came unraveled.

I was about ready to call it a day. I had spent maybe an hour or longer standing on deck, watching the stars and wondering what our next course of action would be. I turned towards the stairs that led to my quarters. I took the first step, but stopped dead. The most beautiful song I had ever heard floated out over the ship. The langauge was elvish, the forest dialect I believed. Lan made sure I understood elvish. Towards the end of my training, we almost never conversed in the common human tongue.

I made my way across the deck. Leaning to a side of the Whisper was Trianna playing a small stringed instrument. I leaned against the mast pole and folded my arms. I listened as she sang with perfect pitch and melody. Truly it was beautiful. I waited for her to finish before addressing her.

"That was beautiful," I spoke in near flawless elvish. "Where did you learn to sing that way?"

Trianna

Trianna looked up as the last note faded and seemed to spill into the sea, into the waters of the God she had just prayed to. She was startled to hear elvish spokes so well by one not of the race and she looked at him for a moment before his question registered in her mind.

"Forgive me," She answered in the same tongue and with a smile as she sat down on the deck, laying the instrument in her lap and lovingly caressing it,"It is rare to find one that speaks the language as you do without being born elvin."

Her smile softening, she strummed a few cords on her instrument and said,"My mother taught me how to play and sing. She was much sought after for her songs of history and would sing to the clan of deeds done many years ago. I remember so many nights sitting at her feet and listening to her wonderful voice. It could capture the imagination and spirit you away to a time that was already gone."

Shrugging, she sighed,"She taught me how to sing and play but I am afraid that my voice is simply a poor imitation of hers."

Looking up at him again, she added,"In my clan we believe that the Gods controll everything. From the hunt to the weather to how the trees grow or the sun shines. And so, we pray to them before and after whatever we do."

"When I hunt I pray to the Goddess of the Hunt and, if I should catch anything I pray to her again in thanks and then I pray to the Goddess of the Earth to forgive me for spilling her children's blood and ask her understanding for the need that drove me to do this."

"You will probably think it foolish, most who are not of the race or clan do but is how we believe. My mother simply instilled in me the desire to pray in melody when I can. She said that the sweeter the words, the more the Gods would listen."

Gesturing out at the sea with one hand, she said,"I have simply asked the Sea God to see our passage safe. I thought if I sang for him he would show favor to us in our time of need and help us thwart our enemies plans."

"I don't think it's silly at all," I replied still in elvish. "We all have to have something to believe in. Who am I to scoff at another's way? Especially when my mentor believed the same. I have my Gods, you have yours, and there is balance because of it." I smiled warmly at her. "As for my elvish, I spent many years under the tutelage of an elf. He refined my sword play in the elvish tradition, as well as taught me how to speak to him in his tongue. By the end of my time with him we almost never spoke the common tongue of my race. He also gave me the suit of elven plate I wear. Fantastic stuff. I've oft wondered how the elven smiths make it so light. I figure some sort of magic is involved."

I walked over and sat down on the deck beside her. I rested my hands on my knee. "But I must be boring you with my ramblings," I said as I sat. "Tell me about you. About your homeland, where you got your skills, and just whatever else you care to share. It's been ages since I've had down time to talk to anyone."

Cali

I watched Yris leave, didn't try to stop him, though his absense vexed me.
Rolling my eyes, I attributed it to him being a green, leader type male and rolled over to get some sleep.
Way things had been going lately I'd probably need it, I mused before dreams of fire and flame overtook me in a comforting warmpth.

The little girl finished her meal, and watched the silent stranger leave the hall. She had hoped she woud meet the small fellow, but she never saw him at the hall throughout her meal, when she left the hall she saw that the two ends of the hallway ended in stairs going down or up.

Since she didnt know what these people wanted from her, and she was being fed and kept comfortably perhaps they werent so bad, her bow shaped lips curved in a little half smile, as she decided to take the stairs up.

Her awe was instant, the vast inky black sky with the infinate number of sparkles, seemed endless. She sat by the edge of the boat, knowing somehow that the she would be safe, she layed on her back and stared up at the sky.

Just when she thought she was alone with the calming sound of the sea, she heard voices comming from the opposite end of the deck. Slightly afraid she got onto her knees and crept towards the unknown duo having a discussion or what it seemed likea disscussion , it sounded liek music, but not the same, felt more like talking,

It was not that she was afraid they would hurt her, she just was scared of them, that could speak differently from her, and she was insanely shy, that she couldnt really do much except do what others expected of her.

The scrunched her marked palm into the folds of her raggedy dress, and wiped the sweat off it. She soon became so enamored of the voices that she leaned against one of the posts content to simply listen to the two unknown people talking...

Trianna

Growls had been skulking around the ship, not happy at all with being on ground that moved underfoot but not wanting to leave Trianna either.

When the girl came up on deck, he was laying down in a shadowed spot bemoaning his fate. As she sat nearby him, he sniffed the air and looked from her to Trianna. Making up his mind that she was no threat to his elvin friend and somehow sensing his presence would scare the small girl, he lay still. As time passed he seemed to sense her fear and began to move toward her on his belly until he was close by her, his eyes looking up at her with a soulfulness that most canines possessed, waiting for her to either pet him or run away screaming in fear, letting the first move be up to her.

Trianna smiled at Ramas and shook her head, strumming the instrument as she talked.

"Almost everything the elves make are embued with magic. Unless it is something that we sell outside our cities. We guard our magic well and rarely trust it to other races. Your mentor must have thought much of you to gift you with something so precious."

"It is not a very glorious past as I am sure yours must have been. In fact, I do not know why the Gods have chosen me for this mission. I am the daughter of a simple ranger from a small Wood Elf clan. My mother sews tapestries along with my sisters and they sell them to support the family along with what my father and I bring in from the hunt."

She smiled at a thought,"Though my mother's tapestries are sought by the best families in the elvin cities and beyond. She sews murals of the stories she tells in song. It is almost as if she can sew the very song into the material and it almost comes alive with it."

"As for my home. It is the most beautiful place in the world to me. Houses high in mighty trees older than most of the human race. Byways constructed between the trees and, at night, lights among the branches signalling families in their homes, sharing the love all families do. To anyone not familiar with our ways it looks quiet stunning. Some have even sworn that the lights are pixies in play upon the great trees. We allow them to believe it for it protects our privacy and what is the harm if some take away such a miraculous dream?"

Looking up at him, she says,"But tell me about your past. What brings you to this place and time?"

the little girl gasped softly when she saw the wolf on his belly towards her. Senseng that he meant no harm , she smiled down at him and hesitantly patted his belly. When she grasped the soft fur, she was surprised of hte softness that the fur was. she ran her fingers through it over and over again.

IT had been so long since she had time to simply enjoy, that she felt as thoguh she was in some paridise. by the time that she got sompletley engrossed with playing with the wolf she giggled, it just didnt seem like she cared if anyone heard her adn she started to play around with the wolf. Who would have thoguht such a beautiful and ferocious animal could be so tame and nice to her.

I let out a small chuckle. It wasn't out of disrespect. On the contrary. I chuckled at how much I was enjoying her company. It had been ages since I had actually stayed up talking with someone. It was very refreshing. I was feeling much better.

Our slave girl had appeared on deck and I just realized I had ignored her down in the dining hall. I got that way once in awhile when I was lost in my thoughts. She was making friends with the wolf that had accompanied Trianna by petting him softly and with respect.

"My past? My upbringing wasn't quite as simple. I was born to a noble human family, the eldest son of the most feared and revered knight in the kingdom. Lord Logan Aurous Vae. My father," I turned my head towards Trianna and brushed my hair from my face. "There was no question that I was to be a knight like him. They started teaching me the sword as soon as I started crawling. Or it seems that way once in awhile. Two years after I was born my family ushered in a brother for me. Snider," I spat. "He and I are nothing alike. I'm ashamed to have the same blood running in my veins as him. But, I suppose he is partly responsible for my being here now. Gods curse him."

I could tell from the look on her face what the next question was going to be. "Let me explain. I fell in love with a common girl. Jasmine. Beautiful red hair, green eyes, perfect in every way I could have ever hoped for. I loved her with all of my being. I kept the affair hidden because I knew the taboo of nobles mixing with the common folk and I didn't want to tarnish my father's reputation. I was waiting for the right time to reveal my love interest was to him before anyone else. But Snider discovered me sneaking from the castle one night. He followed me, watched Jasmine and I together and became crazed with anger. He held in the deepest belief in seperation of classes. I never cared much for it. He had kidnapped and sold into slavery. Then he murdered her entire family."

I paused for a moment of silence. A moment of respect for Jasmine's kin. " I abandonned my training to become a knight like my father to go and find her. To free her. And to live out the rest of my life with her. I tracked the ship to the very isle we're fleeing now. I found out that a band of adventurers had freed all the slaves. In fact, Yrismir himself was amongst that band. I discovered that she had taken up an apprenticeship with an elf by the name of Lan Hawker, the famous elf ranger, on the elven isle. When I found her, she had grown from a common girl into a fairly powerful battle mage. When I finally laid eyes on her, it was like we hadn't missed a day, when in reality it was more than three years. I had just turned twenty three."

"We were never happier. Lan allowed me to stay and partake in the training he was giving Jasmine. He never said what we were being prepared for. Jasmine and I would spend all day working on spells, swordplay, learning the bow, defensive manuevers and acrobatics. The nights were filled with long walks hidden deep in the elven woods. Then Snider killed her."

"I still have no idea how he found us or why he even cared to look in the first place. He appeared almost out of shadow. We were completely off guard. By the time my sword was drawn Jasmine had dual short swords in her belly. I lashed out at my brother. He never was a competant swordsman. I caught him in the chest with a slash of my long sword and he tumbled down the waterfall that Jasmine and I walked by every night. I never saw him again, thank the Gods. I held my love in my arms as she perished. Lan gave her an elven burial deep in the woods"

A tear rolled down my cheek. "That was over fifty years ago."

Yrismir

After a few spells had been cast, his staff was safely frozed in a block of ice filling the tub of the private privy of one of the unused rooms. He made a side-trip to the dining hall, and had a few things to eat before going back to the room he shared with Cali. She was asleep.

He shrugged, and finished undressing, and climbed into bed with. He thought momentarily of waking her, and doing certain things that would be a great deal of fun for them both. But, instead, he decided to but it off to morning, and went to sleep.

Trianna

Growls happily wrestled on the deck with the girl, alternately giving off small yips and playfully licking her face as her hands moved through his fur. He was happy having found someone who truly needed him and her playing with him let him forget that he was certaintly in a place he had no desire to be in and on a ship he had no desire to travel on.

Trianna sat quietly, watching his face and the emotions that played over it as he spoke. Her heart went out to him though she had never known the kind of love he spoke of...nor the kind of misery he lived in either.

Her eyes flared in surprise as he spoke of the years that had passed though. For an elf it was a small block of time but for a human...briefly she wondered what kind of magic kept his youth as the years marched by but she did not ask. It was not her business to know.

When he was done, she shook her head and lay a hand on his arm. "You have been given a great gift, this love you had. You have also been given a great burden to bear."

"I know of this Lan though I never met him. All elvin rangers know of his tales. For you to be tutored under him was something that very few have been able to do though many have tried. As I said before, he must have thought both you and the woman you loved were promising to have done so."

With a sad smile, she picked up her instrument once more and strummed a few cords.

"But you still hold the bad memories deep within you. This is not the way it should be. You have triumphed over her murderer and your sword avenged her as it should have. You have done nothing but brought honor upon the name of the man who taught you. This is the thought that you must carry with you, Sir Ramas. For whatever reason, your life is expanded beyond the years of mortals and you cannot carry this sadness with you forever or you will surely lose your sanity. And long life without the use of a sharp mind is no life of quality at all."

Strumming the instrument once more, she let her smile soften. "We elves believe that long life was bequeathed to us because we not only know that the amount of those years are important but what one does within that time is just as important. It is that which you must think of now."

With another pass of her slim hand across the strings, she hummed the cord that filled the night air.

"You have recieved much in the way of gifts from the elvin. Training, armor, this ship...and probably more...allow me to give you one last gift, Sir Ramas, from one who envies your fortune in having the teacher you did as well as the love you had found."

With that, Trianna began to pick out a melody that was strange and new, which sent thrills of happiness or sadness through any listener depending on what part of the song she was singing at the time.

In the song, she told Ramas' story. His love for a woman who many thought not his equal was sung with a mixture of happiness and sadness. The treachery of his brother was sung with a dark air and the music swirled and sent shivers down the spines of whoever it touched.

Ramas' search for his love was played in slow, agonizing tones as she told of the despair he must have had at wondering if he would ever see her again and their reunion was told with a sparkling of music that almost caused sparks to move from the strings and shower over him.

Lan's teachings and their love in that brief time of reunion was sung with a wonder she felt at any who could be taught as he had and happiness for the time the lovers had. And then the last scene where his love dies and he is forced to kill his brother is sung with a sadness that would almost make the stars themselves weep, the music wrapping around them both as well as the wolf and the girl as Trianna sung of his lost love which he must bury beneath the ground.

Then, in a spin of whirling and shifting emotions within the song, she sung of his great deed, how he had triumphed over the evil of his own kin and had laid the spirit of his love to rest by avenging her killer, allowing her spirit to soar to the heavens to be embraced by the Gods themselves, to be protected and sheletered within and become one with the stars that shone down on Ramas, guiding him through the nights, her love for him still warm and tender and caring.

With one last pass along the strings, Trianna let the last note die down, to settle on the ears of her listeners before she drew a breath and put her instrument away.

Turning to Ramas, she placed her hands on his, her eyes meeting his and their gazes locking.

"When I a small girl my mother told me that once a song had been created for a person their name and life, what they stood for, both evil and good, would never be forgotten by any who heard it. She told me that a song would make sure that a person lived on in the hearts of all, even if they never knew that person before they heard it."

She smiled at him, tenderly,"I give this gift to you. It is a song for you and for her. Keep it with you and you will be able to remember not only the bad but the good as well. And, perhaps, you will be able to let go of the hatred that still resides within you for a deed that has already been punished by your own hand. When you are able to do that...the long life that has been given to you...will mean more and seem more precious than ever before."

Cali

I heard him come into the room and knew it was Yris- a glance in the room's mirror told me that. He slipped into the bed and lay down.
I curled up against him, heedless of his own chill, most likely from his errands. I had enough warmpth for the both of us and then some, I mused with a smile before drifting back to sleep, an arm thrown over him protectively.

OOC: I'm sorry but I think it's best that I bow out of this one.. I can't get online enough to keep up but I will continue to read it. Sorry! :)

Micaelae and Ambrasia
The two stepped out of a portal of shadow,a bit fashionably late but still not the last to enter.
Micaelae stalked forward, cloak swirled to cover his ruined side as Ambrasia simpered and tryed to comfort him.His spells were a bit weak at the moment,a lapse he had when the pain of his ruined body became to great for illusions to hold. His good side, however, was full enough as he waited patiently. He had failed...this time.but it would probably not be such a bad thing,in the total scheme of thigns. It was not as if they had completly lost.

Ambrasia looked around almost fearfully, and she naturally portrayed herself as incredibly alluring in self defense. All at once she seemed to be more fuller, softer, her face innocent yet seductive, body as if sculpted by a god, especcially when dressed in barely mroe then a stip of cloth that wound between her legs and up her body across her chest...barely.

Ooc: I think we're all waiting for you lady, whenever you're ready to go on to phase 2.

OOC: moving things along

IC:
I awoke some time later, the ships gentle rocking telling me we were in calm waters. Sunlight poured in the port windows, glinting on the silver buckles on my saddlebags.
I looked at Yris, still asleep, studied him for a few moments. I'd already figured his parantage- elf and orc, though I knew not which was which nor did I really care. I meet a few elves that were the scum of the earth and a few orcs that were truely decent folk. Judging a person by thier race was not one my hobbies. Least he knew what he was, I mused with a wry smile.
He stired in his sleep, as if he were on the way to waking. I decided to help the process along a bit and ran my hand over his cheek, the skin warmer now then it had been the night before. I laid my lips against his, wondering if the movement would wake him.

Yrismir

His eyes openned witha resounding pain in the back of his head. For a moment he didn't remember where he was. He felt lips on his own. He pressed back with a kiss, pulling a definitely female form against his own. Jansa, a voice in the back of his head told him, as he kissed the woman passionately.

She's dead, another voice replied. Yrismir pulled back, realizing the woman was not who he thought. He brought a hand up, pressing two fingers to his temples and muttering a few words. He mind cleared and he shook his head.

He looked at Cali, a lifetime of pain flooding back to him. He ignored it, and pulled Cali back against himself. He smiled, and pressed his lips hungrilly against hers, his hands wandering across her smooth skin.

"Morning."

Cali

"Aye," I said softly, struck by the pain that rippled across him before he shut it away. As if he'd lived my lifetime and more in a pain I couldn't imagine. I couldn't erase the pain, couldn't really ease it, but I could take his mind from it.
"You sleep well," I asked from where he'd pulled me. I finished the movement and knelt on top of him, , knees on either side of him. "Yesterday was quite a day to say the least. Haven't had that much fun in a while. Think we can top that?"

THe red skinned man looked at those that gathered, and grumbled some vile cure under his breath. He looked at the wizard, and smiled evily, " This girl wasnt one of the ones you were supposed to choose, but it doesnt matter, what mattes is getting to the isle , we can steal the components later when you all are at the temple, either way it doesnt matter, you can use the girl for bait or pleasure whatever you please. .. it doesnt concren me anymore..

THe next Item on the agenda is finding a certain item that is in the royal treasury of the .." THe red skinned man shuddered. " the Good King Tildiir, the elvin king. .. I believe there is to be a grand function at the castle just get to the main isle, my contact was there, and recently well.... not so recently been detected and the last that stupid advisor told us was that it was in the treasury... so you all we want this to be a covert operation, subtly would be the best way. "

He waved his had and an image appeared before them, (emailed to you) this is what the form was last time,... the function that we plan to hit is a grand ball, in the hopeds that the king of Ankoria or the Elvin Kingdom, seeks , or rather his family seeks a bride for him, in hte hopes that the kingdom will have an heir.. soon. " The red skinned man smiled and lifted one brow, " I am sure you all can think of ways to seek entrance and be subtle upon finding the item.

The ball is set for the next week, on the eve of the cresent moon. Be gone, THe portal will lead you to the outskirts of the kingdom. And if I may have a word with our priest, I would be most greatful. "

ELLIE and the Little girl

Ellie looked out of the port and saw that she could see the shore of her home, where her brother ruled as king. Smiling she realized that they were just in time for the grand ball that was to take place in a weeks time.

SHe headed into the dining hall hoping people would come there, and she would learn more of why her Teacher wished her to join this group to accomplish what it is that they were destined to accomplish, she wasnt sure of what her role in this was yet, and hoped someone would tell her soon, because she was feeling lost... incredibly lost.

After a few minutes a girl in raggs slipped into the dinging hall, looking extremely flushed and embarressed. She looked behind her, and the worlf she had fell asleep beside had padded in after her.

Ellie looked up and saw the girl with the wolfe it was obvious the wolf didnt belong to her, and was just there to make the girl feel more at ease. She knew from experience that animals were much more than they seemed to be.

The girl opened a silver cover and saw a huge leg of mutton, she tossed it to the wolfe and then opened another and saw a bread roll, picking it up she went to the table and nibbled on her bread.

Ellie cound understand why of all things the human child wanted a piece of bread, she spoke in elvin, "Hello, " and when the girl didnt respond, Ellie cleared her throat and in a thick accented common she said, " hello child what is your name?"

The Young woman looked up indignantly and saind, "m-my n-name is Gaetana..but the family I serve calls me Tana, which is what I am used t-to. .. and I am eighteen years old, no child at all.."

Ellie looked tenderly at the child. For in Elli's mind that was a child. " well met Tana. .. well met"

Tana simply smiled and rubbed her hand through the wolfe's silk fur.

A kingdom of elves with royalty of the immortals. This was almost too good to be true. A gallant party such as this, anyone uninvited would be suspicious, and anyone who wasn't an elf would be even more so.
Lucky for him.
There wasn't much seperating the two kingdoms from each other, a simple dirt road, and a sign telling those, in english and elvish, they were now entering Ankoria land. The ogre and girl followed him with quiet obediance.
The stick in his hand quaked once, trembled, spit out sparks of cold fire, and then lay dormant.
"Ahhh, it is simmering now," He held it out to the girl now in his party, "If you would..."
He handed her a small witch's dagger, in which she took it, and unflinching, cut her wrist deep. Dark blood almost black spilled over the warped wood. Once the blood hit the staff, it didn't coat and cover it, and then begin to drip off, but rather was sucked up by the staff.
It began to glow, and a low thrumming sound could be heard.
"Enough," She passed the witch's dagger over the wound, and it disappeared.
The staff was almost ready, it had the makings of a great magical item. A few more days, and he could challenge anyone with it, hands down. Lucky enough, it would take them that long to reach the castle.
